A room for sports such as football (soccer), motor racing, athletics, tennis, rugby, rowing, cycling, snooker, squash and tournaments like the Olympics.
The idea is to compliment the Sports Talk 2.0 group, which mainly covers US/American sports. This group is to cover the rest. :-)
"One year into the Great Depression, millions of Americans were turning to football to take their minds off unemployment, bread lines, debt and deflation. Despite the hardships of 1930, there was something to cheer about in New York."

"[I]n New York City, Mayor Jimmy Walker had formed his own fund to help the unemployed. Walker hoped the Giants would be interested in playing an exhibition game for the benefit of his fund, so he met with Mara and some sportswriters to kick around ideas for a matchup that would capture the public’s imagination. “Why not Notre Dame?” one writer asked."

"An Italian-American businessman, Cala has spent the last decade trying to raise funding for a series of underwater resorts and casinos built in glass-bottomed boats. Having failed to get that project afloat, he is now eyeing the embattled club in England’s naval city."

"After the son of an arms dealer, a Gulf “millionaire” who appeared to have no money, another who may not have existed and a Russian banker wanted for alleged asset-stripping, Pompey’s sixth owner in 30 months could be a businessman already dubbed ‘The Man from Atlantis’. "

Pompey taking on our south coast neighbours Southampton live on BBC shortly. Why is it live on BBC1 early on a Sunday? Because the police want to encourage as many people as possible to stay away from the ground and the pubs. Your Manchester, Liverpool, and London derbies and rivalries have got nothing on us.

Europe win 11-7 over the US in Las Vegas. Bit of a fightback on day four but my wife's favourite - Niels Feijen - beats Rodney Morris in a tense last game to take the cup.

Is it just me or is it always more exciting when there's a bit of rain. The stewards are probably going to get hamilton for that bit in the pits, those were some impressive passes he made later on though.
