Apple CEO Steve Jobs confirmed the existence of the so-called "kill switch" capability, following last week's ruckus over early reports of just such a function. The word from Jobs was tucked at the bottom of a story in The Wall Street Journal about Apple's hot-as-a-pistol first month of sales at its App Store. The intent behind the capability is high-minded, Jobs said. Apple would need it in case a malicious program inadvertently were to be distributed to iPhones via the App Store. "Hopefully, we never have to pull that lever," Jobs said, "but we would be irresponsible not to have a lever like that to pull."
- Leo Laporte
personally, I like the idea of applecontrolling apps. But they need to do a better job of keeping crapapps out of iTunes. They need to distance themselves from windows mobile.
- Bob Blunk
How about they fix the pairing issue with bluetooth first.
- Ryan
it isn't really what they have to do first or second, as the kill-switch was most likely in the initial release of the 2.0 software anyway.

Leto is out and, he's OK! A little groggy thanks to the medication but, he's fine. Everything went well and all the bad stuff is out. Now, Leto needs rest.
He was down and out for a few days with some flu like symptoms. Turns out, a lymph node in his neck was infected. They did a biopsy to check on things and see what the problem was. He's blessed. It was just an infection and, he's on the way to recovery...with happy pills. Yes, happy pills.
- The Geek Media
Glad all is well and wishing him a speedy recovery
- Cecil Sandus
Just curious, I don't want to start a potentially ugly debate, but how exactly is it insulting? Thanks.
- Randy
Randy: It's not, not in general. But I can think of any number of reasons why an individual might *feel* insulted, and they're entitled to their feelings.
- Roger Benningfield
So it insulting and demeaning for playboy to post a head shot of Sarah Austin, for a poll and she wants it taken down. Fine it is her image and that is her right. Though is it also insulting and demeaning that Sarah spent todays entire episode of Pop17 playing the Wii fit girl video over and over? http://www.viddler.com/explore.... Will she pull down that episode if the Wii fit girl ask her too?
- Charles Dick
Um, settle down, Beavis. :) The "insulting and demeaning" thing is Leo's. I asked Sarah here on FF if she was offended by Playboy's offered opportunity, and she said she wasn't. It's possible that she's just not comfortable being put in a competitive position with these other women... not everyone loves a contest. Don't project Leo's bias on to her.
- Roger Benningfield
I'm happy whenever a decent guy defends women's rights to not be objectified. Go, Leo!
- kiwinerd
Yeah, I don't know the whole situation, but this is *Playboy*. I think we all know what their motives are. And in the interest of full disclosure, I'm a male, but I think it's all about the way in which it's presented. Some women may feel as though this is akin to walking down the street and running into a bunch of guys going ga-ga and saying, "Whip out dem tits baybee!" But unlike real life, if you don't like what you're seeing in the Internets, you can close the window/tab and ignore it.
- Randy
From what I understand and, have read quite a few of those women (if not all) were made aware by Playboy that their pictures and bios were going up in the poll. Although, apparently they weren't aware the winner may be asked to pose nude. Given that and, the fact a commenter here said she wasn't offended, I wonder why she wants it taken down?
- The Geek Media
I also can appreciate and respect her desire to not have her "brand" associated with that one. Insulting may be a little strong however. After all PB is not exactly triple X material.
- Robert
It's totally insulting. Playboy values women only for their looks. "Win" the poll and get an invite to pose nude. Yick. Would you ask Einstein to pose nude? I would hope that Sarah is more interested in being valued for what she knows than how she looks. If you think Playboy's vah vah voom attitude isn't demeaning to women you might want to examine your values.
- Leo Laporte
To tell you the truth, I hope that the winner chooses not to pose (especially if it's Brigitte, because I follow her video blog). Somehow something important would be lost IMHO, whether it's a perception of innocence on the part of her followers or something else. Somehow it seems wrong to me, it's hard to explain
- Thomas B
from NoiseRiver
"If you think Playboy's vah vah voom attitude isn't demeaning to women you might want to examine your values" Luv ya, Leo, but couldja show me your "I'm a middle-aged guy entitled to speak for women" certificate? I believe these legal adults made their own decisions - and some had "poser's remorse" afterwards (posus interruptus?)
- Dean Barnett
Well that's a good question. Did Playboy ask permission? They certainly don't have to - all the women are public figures. If Playboy did, that's great. If Sarah said yes and then regretted it, I can certainly understand, but at that point Playboy has no obligation to take it down.
- Leo Laporte
Yeah, wow Leo. Tone down the snark a bit. Oh, and I wouldn't ask Einstein to pose nude because 1) He's *dead*, and 2) He isn't sexy to me. It's as simple as that. Playboy isn't drugging up runaways on Sunset Boulevard, they're saying, "Hey, flat out--we think you're attractive and some people may want to see you naked. Cool? It's not? That's cool too."
- Randy
Unsure about the Playboy thing. After all, @shelisrael and @Scobleizer posed topless. Maybe if more male bloggers--never mind!
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Now seeing someone only for their looks is one thing. But this started based off their jobs.. AND, its saying that they have the brains to be in this position, and yet also have amazing looks. It's hardly insulting unless someone takes offense to what most would consider a compliment, or a dream offer.
- InsaneNinja
I agree with Leo. Its simply an opinion poll. The only thing they could possibly be asked to take down is the picture, and that was probably taken by their own photographers anyway, so no take-down there. The Funny part I think is what is it with Mothers taking their 8 year olds, to go to a signing for Playboy Models.... Please someone explain that. But besides that, it brings and interesting question of how companies deal with polls. Do you think its right for things like that, be put live without consent?
- Tyler (Chacha)
Well they are meant to be fun. But i was wondering if they ask for the Bloggers to agree to be on it or not? I don't know that.
- Jorge
I think that just the simple fact that they're objectifying these women can be construed to be both demeaning and insulting. However, on a personal basis, I wouldn't mind Playgirl putting my ugly mug on a poll. Further, since they are public figures, I don't think Playboy has to ask to do anything with their faces and bios.
- Charles Ju
Leo: I have so many problems with what you're saying that I scarcely know where to start. :) Saying that Playboy only values women for their looks is like saying that ESPN only values Kobe Bryant for his athleticism... um, yeah, so? If Einstein were hot and alive in 2008, we would have already seen him at least half-naked via Perez. And since when is life a series of binary options? Why can't a woman be valued for what she knows *and* how she looks? *And* how she can belch the Constitution's preamble?
- Roger Benningfield
Leo: But most of all... "examine your values"? That's an awfully high horse you've got there, Mr. Laporte. Beware the steeplechase. :)
- Roger Benningfield
Roger: I am kinda with you on that one. I mean if we can not value someone for their looks than Hollywood should just shut down, modeling should become illegal and teeth whitening the subject of tabloids. Also all of those old oil paintings in the Louvre? Confiscate them. I think people took their clothes off for a lot of them. PB is about as Americana as Elvis by many people's estimates. To be sure a lot of extreme adult stuff is distasteful to a majority of people. Not sure that I see this in that light.
- Robert
I don't much care for Playboy either, but seriously don't get why the intelligentsia is so anti-beauty. It's weird. I'd just reiterate what I said more extensively in this conversation: http://friendfeed.com/e... , which is: beauty is just as valid a way for the world to unfold as is anything else. Kinda agreeing with Roger and Robert here.
- Anthony Citrano
I'm an adult woman and a loyal member of the "TWiT army", and I back Leo strongly here. Leo's defence, on air and off, of women's and girls' rights - like the right to not be objectified - is way admirable. Leo Laporte is the Chief TWiT for a reason, and it's not just for his technical, journalistic, and teaching prowess and friendly demeanour. Leo's a fundamentally decent person, a role model, which is why it matters that he exerts leadership. Leo, you're my hero!
- kiwinerd
Well said @kiwinerd! I believe that is why so many good people are drawn to Leo.
- Jim Bednarz
I don't know why you people are criticizing Leo for openly protecting the liberties of another human being. It's pretty ridiculous that Leo has to defend his stance, you guys are immature and should be ashamed. Just think if your wife, gf, sister, or mother was put into a Playboy poll, would you be ok with that? If not, then you're a hypocrite.
- Charles Ju
Doesn't the poll just boil down to "Who would you rather see naked?" That seems like a pretty crude and immature question to me.
- Mark
So, Mark, once one "matures", they don't like to see girls naked? I'm also not getting what's "crude" about naked women. I dislike Playboy, too, but because of their unapologetic tack and ordinariness, not that they aspire to worship at the altar of women they find attractive.
- Anthony Citrano
Ask yourself why it's important to get female bloggers naked, and yet nearly everone wants to keep the male bloggers fully clothed. It doesn't strike you the least bit odd that only guys can be noteworthy simply for the work they do? I've been playing around on the net for 15 years, and I learned quickly not to let people know I was female. No one asks for pictures if he thinks you're a guy; it's what you say that's important. Reveal your gender, and the request for pictures -- clothed or sans -- begin.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
I was trying to say that the concept of the poll, any kind of poll like this, seems just kind of stupid. I agree with those that say these kind of layouts make women objects - I think MiniMage makes this point very well. As a man, I know I have to fight the temptation to see women only in terms of their appearance. I think things like Playboy and this poll play to almost a caveman instinct. Is this really what being a man is all about - voting on which woman I would rather see naked?
- Mark
Examined values, don't think it is demeaning. We've seen the emails asking permission. They didn't even need to do that.
- matthew
I see what you mean Mark. I'm just saying I don't get why saying a woman is sexy/beautiful is objectifying. Pointing out one asset of a person in no way diminishes the others. I mean, if someone says to me "that's a great article you wrote" or "what a great picture you took", I don't stomp my feet and get indignant and whine, "is that all I am to you? just a string of words?! what about my heart, my soul, my cooking, my business skills??"
- Anthony Citrano
@MiniMage - the reason men ask for pictures of women is because men are far, far more visually motivated than women. Guys care what women look like more than women care what guys look like. I also disagree with your premise; women can be noteworthy simply for the work they do - plenty are. But if one is beautiful, I just don't see why that's a bad thing. The world gives everybody certain gifts - and beauty is no more or less a gift than athletic ability, speaking skills, or being a good programmer.
- Anthony Citrano
@Anthony Citrano (acitrano): The premise isn't mine; it's the message I get from Playboy. I get that guys have the visual "on" switch. Furthermore, I'd be lying if I claimed my eyes only looked at my beloved technology. However, I think this goes beyond (beneath?) "this blogger is an excellent combination of functionality and form." Can't women be beautiful without looking like they're about to cater to a fella's, ah, reproductive instinct?
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
from NoiseRiver
@Mini - understood. And I'm not sticking up for them; as I said, I'm not a fan. Just was exploring our reaction to the broader issue of beauty. I think sometimes people have this knee-jerk reaction that's weirdly anti-beauty, or at least anti-beauty-appreciation. And you're right that they're not pitching the whole product, no. But they're in "entertainment," so what can we expect? :)
- Anthony Citrano
Interesting discussion on a provocative subject. The double standard in political correctness bothers me. PB bad but XYZ thing good. Males are visual I get that too and who would apologize for biology? My wife has had a net presence for years and she gets a lot of interesting emails to say the least, most are pretty poor attempts but some are rather funny and creative in a non-threatening sort of way. It is simply nature.
- Robert
Fair enough i do like the ambiguity of the name

- Robert Fischer
Not bad! A few suggestions: Minimize the number of colors, and choose them from the same palette (colourlovers.com has lots of beautiful palettes). Lower the font size a bit. Increase the space between the header and the content; they look like they're all part of the same "thought" as it is. Also, I assume it's about iPhone apps? Then why is the word "apps" buried in the middle of the catchphrase?
- Brent Newhall
I could talk to our web guy. He's fantastic. See what he can do.
- The Geek Media
Another suggestion content wise is to, at minimum, mark which apps are free. ;) Cool site though!

there are quite a few online blogs that i use, some protected. last.fm and torrents also.
- DJ Swole
Tinysong.com was very nice. I did find some of my bands on there but, other bands are not available. I guess my music is very obscure. There are some really good resources on the web for the type of music I listen to. You do have to pay for the tracks but it is worth it.

I stumped the band the first time out. "Father's Day" sung by Goucho Marx.

Glenn - My use of Twitter has dropped off to the point where it was a tweet or two every few days, and now my friendfeed posts are syndicated on Twitter, so it was just getting redundant. I'm now officially a Twitter poser, I guess. I should probably stop syndicating over there as well
- Phil G
very good decision! also did that some time ago...

I kind of wish I could splice someone's tweets into their Friendfeed stream just for my viewing, the same way I create imaginary friends. there are a couple people who don't import tweets but whose tweets I'd like to see in their feed anyhow.
- Nathan Rein
How are you pushing your FF posts to Twitter?
- John Duff
oh yeah, I was going to ask the same thing as John. Are you using Twitterfeed? They've been awfully unreliable for me lately
- Nathan Rein
Well, now I'll have to create you as an imaginary friend as well and add your Tweets to it. :)
- David Cook - 2010!!!
Sorry nathan and David. I've actually stopped syndicating my ff over there, and most people have tweets hidden over here, so I can re-add twitter syndication if you like. It will be pretty spotty though, I do days between tweets sometimes.
- Phil G
don't do it for my sake... I was just sort of musing, on principle, that it would be interesting, as a Friendfeed feature, to be able to splice new feeds into your friends identities (privately, for your own viewing). For example some folks don't import their del.icio.us posts, but if I really want to see them, wouldn't it be handy if I could just tell Friendfeed their del.icio.us username and see their posts on my friends page spliced in with the rest of their feed.
- Nathan Rein
Ok, sorry for the wishy-washiness, but I did re-add my twitter feed here in FF. But I stopped syndicating everything on twitter, since I don't use it much it felt like I was just advertising over there. So just tweets from me from now on (on Twitter).
- Phil G
I wish more people would use the expression "wishy-washiness"
- Nathan Rein
Nothing wrong with disconnecting your Twitter feed. I've only come to use my Twitter when I am not at a computer and, I need to update something via the mobile. I do have Twitter followers who are not FriendFeed users so, it's become almost like having two separate services instead of one integrated service.
- The Geek Media
Looking at the screen shots, each slice represents different folders ie: My Documents, My Music, My Videos etc., so basically it's a fancy flash drive...I can't even use a multi tasking mouse. This is WAY too high tech for me =\

It's going to be a tough thing. There's a ton of sites with game guides already in place like WeGame.com and..of course the popular Warcraftmovies.com . They've got their competition in line but, I'd be interested to see how it pans out.
- The Geek Media
The other sites don't have ALEX though. Not to brown nose, but the guy Bleeds personality. These other sites are not personalities. Not only is he one but he is a gamer who knows his stuff as well.
- Da-Chief
I'd beg to differ. If you want to talk about WeGame.com one of the most well-known machinima makers in World of Warcraft (Oxhorn) is a very big member of the company who also does a weekly video blog. Warcraftmovies.com holds some rather well-known personalities with the WoW player base as well. They've got some competition.
- The Geek Media
The Geek media, Competition is good, I think there is something for everyone if there is competition. What I am trying to say, there are some sites out there that are "MEDIA" org's (I.e G4) who are only thinking of the bottom line. These guys are "PLAYA's.." :-) Why is it that Diggnation, and TRS work? Other follks have done the same thing, these guys though and their personalities are what make the shows. You can't just put a "GAMER DUDE" up and expect to do well, you have to have personality.
- Da-Chief
Makes you really question what you covet, doesn't it? "What is it that you really want?" "I would like a red gas pump the size of a quarter. I'd like to put it on my ear."

the nice thing about friendfeed is that you can bring twitter with you and the comment threading rocks. Many conversations start in twitter but they now finish in friendfeed.

Isn't the Honeymoon over yet for FriendFeed? It's getting really old. Twitter is NOT dying and they will eventually fix their issues. Also, I don't see how everyone is doing a competition between the two products. They are completely two different products that serve different purposes. I will continue to use both Twitter and FriendFeed they go hand in hand together.
- Chris Rodgers
Music too Loren. I'm loving the new music I listen to as a result of people sharing Last.fm, Pandora, etc.
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I have to disagree. I don't think Twitter is dying. I think Friend Feed is helping Twitter in a lot of ways. I still use Twitter and, update from my phone and other apps. My updates come right onto FF and, people comment. That's the same a lot of us do. Yes, we're all getting tired of Twitter's constant issues. Isn't that the real problem though? Twitter's constant issues it's what is the most frustrating.
- Candace
You guys are drinking WAY too much of the Kool-Aid. I love FF but Twitter isn't going anywhere.
- Mike Doeff
Certainly FF is more stable, but I still enjoy the quick update nature of Twitter. I think that both can exist alongside one another and actually enhance each other.
- Mark
How about Twitter and Pownce coming together, maybe they can make it that way. I think friendfeed is cool, but will it replace Twitter. I'm hoping for Twitter to change!!! Listen to the users!! Twitter!!!
- Jorge
I gotta agree with Chris R. Twitter and FF don't seems to serve the same purpose. I use Twitter for conversation and FF for following the stream of what my friends are doing.
- Robert Chute
saying Twitter is dieing because of FriendFeed is sort of like saying Yahoo IM is dieing because of Adium or Trillian. Two different products. One is a mobloging site, the other is a social media aggregator with the ability to interact with other social media/moblogging services. If Twitter did die out and close it's doors, FriendFeed would lose it's ability to communicate with it.
- The Geek Media
Twitter is still king of micro blogging although with identi.ca's open source platform, we'll see what happens. So far I don't like Plurk and Pownce can't stay up long enough to use it.
- David Ward
Truthfully, I grew tired of Twitter two months ago. It served its purpose during conferences I've attended over the past year, but I just couldn't get enough of my friends to adopt it to make it worth my time. FriendFeed, however, is much more informative, and it seems like I'm finding something new and cool every few minutes.
- Jeremy Botter
twitter's only assets are a user base and a variety of data entry points. That is not an unsurpassable moat. If friendfeed added SMS and IM updates they could steal a significant amount of twitter's traffic.
- Andrew
Prediction - Twitter hits 5 million users by Feb 09
- Sean Kelly
Friendfeed will outnumber Twitter sooner rather than later because it already controls a significant part of conversation streams. Plus, it aggregate every other webservice produced content that's a main part. Add those features @Andrew Burd is talking about and you will definitely talk about Twitter as something from the past.

- Roberto Bonini
weird how jason isn't in on this discussion!
- Gavin
I just Twittered Jason, but I don't expect him to comment. Most CEOs won't comment on rumors unless they are true, and even then, they usually comment on their own schedules, not someone else's.
- Robert Scoble
That said, if Microsoft bought Mahalo and Powerset that'd be the first signs of a search strategy inside Microsoft in years. It'd be smart to do.
- Robert Scoble
Powerset is shown to work great on factual, structured data. Why wouldn't Mahalo with its human editors and coordination + Powerset be an excellent combination?
- Mattie
i don't know any reporter who would run this as a post, unless they're shooting it down as an example of an unfounded rumor. we'll see who writes a post entitled something like "Rumor: Is MS buying Mahalo?" personally, i've run stories that i've doubted, but i've always had more to go on than this, and i very heavily qualify myself. if anyone here wants to write a rumor-mill post on this, be my guest -- but you'll experience the backlash that causes reporters to not run such unfounded stories. geez.
- Eric Eldon
Who says a reporter would cover it? I said bloggers. Big difference considering the majority of bloggers aren't journalists. As far as this rumor..first, we've had zero source to go on. Second, not one word from the person who would know for sure. I chock it up to a rumor but..I think this rumor is about to get fun.
- Candace
@Roberto - a rumor that makes sense is still a rumor. Though this would be a great experiment. How much of a buzz could a rumor on friend feed start? Hmmm...
- Candace
If Mahalo is snapped up by Microsoft for some undisclosed fee, it will be a clear signal that Microsoft is on the warpath. Startups everywhere, beware!!!

seems like it would be a smart move by MS, hedging bets on the future of search by investing in a variety of areas, which is more than google has done recently

- Charlie Anzman
I can't believe people still think Mahalo is a search engine. Jeez, it's a wiki/directory with a search feature. Edit: and lately, it's been more of a current news/blog than anything else.
- Paul Short
The other night I actually was pondering this very acquisition idea. Though I've never really used Mahalo for anything, I enjoy Calacanis and Mahalo Daily. Is it search, wiki or news?
- THX152

- michael sean wright
Working on Mahalo's mission statement. Would love some feedback on it: "We're here to help people easily find information, answers and resources they can trust." - http://any feedback?
It's nice, and accurate, but it would be great if we could get something in there about curation. I feel like that's the best description of what it is we actually do.
- Lon Harris
from twhirl
How about mentioning that "We're people helping people easily find info, etc." to differentiate from algorithms?
- Tom Guarriello
We are here to assist people by easily finding the right information, answers, and resources with a human touch ;)
- Robert Barr
how about something about free pizza and tshirts?
- Stefan Hayden
I think it needs to be more proactive . . . like "We help people find information, answers and resources they can trust."
- Telemill
Yeah Cason I don't think you could've put it more simple
- John Blanton
from twhirl
Jeez, you've been hanging out with Leo too long...sounds like some of the TWiT network's catchphrase has rubbed off. However, it does sum up Mahalo to a T.
- Steve Gillette
from twhirl
It's a great mission statement. Especially with FTGs creating pages, and link checkers (such as mike, debbie, and jeffhoard) checking all user-submitted links. I say that mission statement is a keeper - nice and accurate. PS, Jason, I've left you a few pieces of feedback to your Mahalo email address. ;)
- Chris Thomson
Lon Harris: a mission statement shouldn't get into execution as that is secondary to purpose. Our mission is to help folks find this information, but the way we do that is going to change and evolve. The fact that we currently do curation of links is really not super important to the mission... if we wind up getting a better product using another process (i.e. social bookmarking or semantic search) then we will do that. So, that's why i left out "with humans" or "by using human intelligence."
- Jason Calacanis
Or even . . . "With Mahalo find the information, answers and resources you can trust."
- Telemill
I see your point, but regardless of the process, think Mahalo would always involve some form of curation. Even social bookmarking would "curate" the Web, albeit differently than we do now.
- Lon Harris
from twhirl
Well, it COULD be simpler . . . "Mahalo, information you can trust" but then you sound like a bank for something.
- Telemill
A mission statement is about you, your business and your ideals. The best policy to a mission statement is to keep those three things in mind and, keep it short and simple. "We're here to help people easily find information, answers and resources they can trust." sounds a bit more like a catch phrase or slogan. What is Mahalo going to do to achieve that statement?
- Candace
Telecommutingmillionaire: I like the "We" It adds the human element vital to Mahalo without beating you over the head. I agree that it seems long so here's a modification that takes out a few words, but not the meaning: "We're here to help you find trustworthy information, answers and resources." Leaving in the We and the You sends the "by human, for humans" message.
- David Jones
I was musing the other day about whether mission statements still make sense. They remind of offsites and consultants.
- John McCrea
The word information makes "answers and resources" redundant, doesn't it? How about "Mahalo is people connecting people to information they can trust.".
- Joe Coughlin
@Telecommutingmillionaire "Mahalo, information you can trust" also sounds too close to "Netcasts you love from people you trust" from TWiT. For the network that Candace Holly and myself work on I picked the tagline "A Community of Creativity", simple and to the point. But that isn't exactly a mission statement rather than an overall tone.

Don't forget to add a vision statement. Mission = What is our business. Vision = What we want to become. You will gain clarity by doing both rather than putting them into one statement. I have an outline that will get you there if you are interested.

I think it's good. I think there can be a distinction between "answers" and "resources" and encourage you to keep the wording if it is accurate.
- Kimberly J
How about adding something like: We sort through the rubbish, so you don't have to.
- Ross Maguire
I think you should include the words "Real world" somewhere. Like "Solving real world problems."
- jonn
Jason, it is alright, however... I would rather prefer the word "guide" to be placed in there. It shows that your company is more active in assisting the user instead of just "help" which seems more passive.

needs more... "syngergy." And also some buzzwords indicating a strong human algorithm at work. =)

Andrew and I seem to be on the same path. That is, again, why I suggest replacing the word "help" with a stronger word. One that represents Mahalo's efforts in bringing the users the best quality information available.

The tech writer in me wants to cut it down to "We help people easily find information, answers and resources they can trust." I agree that it doesn't emphasize the human element as much as I'd like.

Comment: Interesting that you're crowd-sourcing a mission statement-- seems that a singular point of view would be important. Suggestion: it helps to define scope, focus, and end-result. Right now, your mission statement doesn't appear to drive employees down particular directions when they hit crossroads. Example: Mahalo exists to guide customers to the most relevant and trustworthy answers whenever/wherever they have questions
- Vijay Goel
shorten it a bit? We help people... Make it more assertive too. I think someone already said this? So I'm just a copycat

@David Jones, I still feel you are softening up the "punch" of the statement with "we're here". Take the here out. Rearrange the last few words so it flows off the mind and the tongue . . . "We help you find trustworthy answers, information and resources." Answers should be first, because we all really want good answers. Information is also what we are searching for but it's such a esoteric concept. And please, is there another word we can use for resources? It's just so . . . corporate speak.

Vijay: This isn't crowdsourcing. :-) It's asking the cloud for comments and feedback.

Revisit Guykawasaki's lecture at last years Gnomedex, you'll end up with "Answers you can trust"
- Greg Birch
I hate to say this but it doesn't really catch my attention. It seems too generic.
- Blaine Fleming
It does sound like a corporate mission statement, I might Leo-ize it to "the answers you want, from people you trust." Just because Mahalo seems to be positioned as a friendlier entity than most corporations.
- Robert Morrison
The test would be how many employees can remember, and recite the "mission" no fluff, all my staff know our mission is "to give patients hope" Guy gave a great talk, mission statements that sound great can be found at http://www.netinsight.co.uk/portfol... but they usually fail the staff test. Disney's mission statement "to make people happy" even a CEO can remember that.

We're here to help people enjoy finding answers, info and sources they can believe in.
