Any suggestion for something semi-fast for under $300?

It says the S10e has good battery life - how long will it run on a charge?
- Jim Connolly
I am not sure. Battery life honestly isn't my concern. I want something cheap, but fast for a netbook.
- TheHenry
I think the best price on an NC10 is around $350 - Pity, as it's fast, 160gig hd and beautiful to work with.
- Jim Connolly
I’m considering either a tablet, or a Netbook. Since I’ve never tried either of them, I’ll need to get some hands on time before I can make any kind of decision.
- Michael Fidler
I will consider the NC10. If it's good, I will spend some extra money.

I used to use a tablet PC but found that other than MS OneNote, most programs are not too Tablet-friendly. I would go with a netbook, personally. You're right though Michael, you need some hands-on time first.
- Jim Connolly
@michael: I just came from a tablet. The One thing I didn't like about it was how small and slow it was. Which is why I am a little edgy on buying one.
- TheHenry
I've only used a couple of tablet PC's and they were both slow too.
- Jim Connolly
I actually sold my Tablet PC today, on ebay for $200. It was from back in 2006
- TheHenry
I'd love a good tablet. Nothing quite like illustrating on what you're actually illustrating!

I might have to face reality and acknowledge that tablet’s aren't what I hoped they would be. Either way, I need to get something portable.

Something else I need to add, if next week, Apple announces a netbook, I will have to buy that for sure!
- TheHenry
Take a look at this; http://bit.ly/2OIE9g I'm just glad I don't need to make an immediate decision. I'm interested to see if apple announces something, too.
- Michael Fidler
wow, thats amazing. I hope apple does announce it too, because that is what I am planning on getting. (Fingers Crossed)

I currently have a laptop, which is as close to a desktop replacement as you can get. It has a top line CPU, 4 gigs of memory, and two Nvidia 8800 GTX graphic cards. It also weighs 20+ pounds with the power adapter, not to mention all the other stuff I drag around with it. I love it, but it’s not something I can run around with. That’s why I want something small, light and powerful. I don’t want to worry about the number of tabs I have open.
- Michael Fidler
I understand that dual core chips are right around the corner, and the Nvidia demo was impressive. I don’t mind spending $350 for a lightweight system, as long it has a little power behind it. From the research I did last night, it appears that many of the engineering efforts undertaken to address this growing market segment, are just now making their way onto store shelves. It’s a tough time to make a decision.
