You know what Lemon these people are better .. purer .. do you know what I did this morning, I assisted in the birth of a fowl they named it Jack and it was delicious - Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock
"Arundhati Roy justifies Maoist taking up arms". They should make a Hindi cinema movie with non-urban protagonist whose family dies, women get raped and then he will avenge the political leader. Wait that smells of innumerable Hindi cinema flicks, whats new here? Because they are getting a voice outside the silver screen. - http://ibnlive.in.com/news...
Still waiting for release of the movie. Anurag Kashyap has a very nice ear for music\background score as a film maker. Take Black Friday, Gulal, Dev D and I expect the same from Paanch - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Laconic: "concise, abrupt," 1589, from Gk. Lakonikos, from Lakon "person from Lakonia," the district around Sparta in southern Greece in ancient times, whose inhabitants were famous for their brevity of speech. When Philip of Macedon threatened them with, "If I enter Laconia, I will raze Sparta to the ground," the Spartans' reply was, "If."

The Spartan in 300 wasn't so; in fact, he was quite the opposite. He too a full three minutes to just kick a guy into a well ;)

Chomsky is always such. Haven't read it, I'll put it on my 'To Read' list. You should totally bring this to Goa next time we make a trip. This will be awesome discussion on the shores with Macallan for company. :D

Haven't read Chomsky before so liked the informal, conversational style in which he has written. Found it accidentally in a second hand bookshop for 3 CHF. Startling part so far was use of SS officers by US post WWII

I have read his following work and found all of them awesome:1. Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media 2. Necessary Illusions: Thought Control in Democratic Societies, Boston: South End Press, 1989. 3. Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance, New York: Metropolitan Books, 2003. Would love to read all of his works over a period of time.

Finished it. Interesting view point on the media propaganda he compared the way media or government propaganda works with George Orwell's doublespeak and in fact gives ample examples. Next I might continue Bruno Latour's Science in Action or MN Srinivas' A Village Remembered
