The_Rooster on [WSIG] Casual Players - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"My wife and I often play [Castles of Burgundy] (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardga...) which is why I often suggest it about here. Plays 2 players so well and scales to 4 beautifully. It's a little more complex than the others you have but well worth the effort to learn. Once you do it isn't that hard. I would recommend hitting BGG for some player and teaching aids. It might not fit with your other preferences but my gaming group love Euros." - Dave Gray
The_Rooster on [WSIG] Looking for a new family game. Ticket To Ride or Flash Point? - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"TtR is a great family game I agree but I would also say that Flash Point is a totally different game. Being co-op it is less competitive by nature and will be more interactive. No winners and losers is always good for family games. But I also like TtR, it's just an enjoyable game and simple to learn. I get bummed because my wife beats me regularly! Totally different to Settlers too. Both in my opinion are family friendly just depends what your preference is. Co-op Vs Competitive." - Dave Gray

"I second Jaipur. I would also recommend Castles of Burgundy - excellent game and scales very well from 2-4 players. The rule book is a bit of a struggle but well worth it and there some excellent player aids on Board Game Geek. My wife and I are also after kids to bed players ;)" - Dave Gray

The_Rooster on Looking for a good co-op game for 2 players - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"I agree with the assessment of 2 player Pandemic. But once you are familiar with the game and mechanics it's pretty easy to play multiple roles each. Just sayin' Worthy consideration all the same." - Dave Gray
The_Rooster on [WSIG] More games for the kids - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Was just about to suggest this! I have an 8 year old and 10 year old - they love it. Great game and can be made more suited to adults with the expansion. I'm sure younger kids would get this fine." - Dave Gray

"Thanks. I checked out Brugge as well. Thanks for putting another dint in my wallet!! Looks great. The wife and I love these style of games these look amazing. CoB, Agricola, Ora et Labora and LoW are our current favorites. Do we have any idea of release dates for any of these?" - Dave Gray

"I'll second Bora Bora. We too have been playing Castles of Burgundy and love it. Can't wait for this one. You mentioned other games that Feld is working on or got coming out - anywhere to look and see?" - Dave Gray
The_Rooster on Rule Query: Ora et Labora - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Excellent thank you. Just wondering about stone: the rules state *The grapes (only in the France variant) and stone enter the game in rounds 11 and 18 respectively, which means that stone does not enter the game until the second full rotation of the production wheel (indicated by a 2 in a spiral symbol).* Given your answer this means that it comes into play *on* the second rotation - or the second time the wheel passes the stone symbol - correct? Thank you for helping me out." - Dave Gray

"I can see the value and the challenge. Posters here have certainly made a case for it as a good game, which it is. If anything the very fact I am finding it initially frustrating is reason enough to take it as a challenge and work it out." - Dave Gray

"Quickly realizing that utopia is unattainable or rare in this game. That does appeal to me and I am starting to see where the actual game is. Easy to forget you playing others in the same errr field. Winning the last game I played was good but I had to work hard and felt a bit hollow. I think I am going to approach the next differently though and with some key goals." - Dave Gray

"Sound advice. Your example certainly makes sense. It's pretty obvious that there are many, many different strategies. I think I might be getting a bit lost in that. I needed some advice on what general direction to head. Your example is certainly one that I am going to try. Thanks." - Dave Gray

"A 60 point game! Seems way out of my league right now. Something to aim for - my last game I won with 24 points. The two of us are noobs - obviously!" - Dave Gray

"THIS is exactly the advice that I was hoping for! Trust me I'm not THAT frustrated - more I want to know how to exploit the game for enjoyment. I play a number of Euro games and this one is not so much a wrong fit. I just don't think I understand it enough yet. Thanks for clarifying just what can be accomplished - not everything. So I need to narrow the focus of my strategy. While still aiming for the main scoring goals. I think I am just expecting to get more done than what the game is intended to allow you to. Given the way you have explained things I don't know that I am missing anything - everything made sense which means I think. We have the turns and actions right for example. I think the reason I'm only able to expand once is I'm still learning just how to best do that and only focusing on that at times. For example I could plow the odd field while I'm building resources to get to expand. Which helps with your other suggestion - diversity. I'm defiantly learning that once you..." - Dave Gray

"I agree. It's getting cooler here and the chook shed is iron and a bit warmer so he snuggled up in one of the boxes. I moved him which I'm happy to do. Just in case he got hungry. Given the design of the shed I'd have a hard time keeping these guys out. The wire is small enough but the shed bit has a few gaps. (I had never heard the boiled egg thing - thanks for clearing that up)." - Dave Gray
