YouTube search has "Wonder Wheel" !! Has it been there for a while? If Not, it is now. Coooool
youtubeww.png
They had a warp.swf meme going around in reddit a couple of days ago. It was something like bubbles of videos where as you move your mouse over particular video it expands into more bubbles of related videos - sorta like video recommendation engine. - TrafficBug
That would have been cool. Do you have a link? - Ron"micronet"Harwood
I knew it was on Google search but not on YouTube till I went to watch Lisa's video yesterday and decided to do some research and noticed it. Was it on Youtube since then? Never noticed it before, but hey, s**t happens :) - Ron"micronet"Harwood
@Ron, heres the pertinent link from reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r... - TrafficBug
Wow that youtube search Wonder Wheel is too cool! (I just reread your original post Ron so deleted my previous idiotic comment). - Isha (Marysia)
Noticed that some of the searches give the Wonder Wheel & others don't - weird :D - Isha (Marysia)
Thanks for the link TrafficBug. That youtube hack was really cool - Ron"micronet"Harwood
@Isha I noticed that it doesn't always show too. Maybe they are still tweaking it or maybe there isn't something relevant for it to spin off on with certain vids?? Just a guess. - Ron"micronet"Harwood
it has been there for a while and it will only display info when it has relevant info to show. - jimmy williams

Does anyone know how to split test a sale offer in the side bar of a Wordpress blog? I would really like to know, but have not yet found an answer after around 4 hours of trial and error....
I don't... I thought about that myself... Have you looked for a plug in that gives it the capability? - Michael Bunata
There are a bunch of wordpress plugins to allow Google Website Optimizer to work. However, none allow tests on the side bar offer. - Tim Brennan
something like an ad rotator? http://wordpress.org/extend... - Allison
Ad Rotator doesn't seem to be trackable. I want to be able to combine it with google analytics - Tim Brennan
if each goes to a separate version of the landing page.... - Allison
yes, but I don't think it will work with a sale offer in the side bar - Tim Brennan
You would have to test this, but use the Ads Rotator script http://kpumuk.info/project... and link your ad(s) to go through a redirect page that you could have as a goal in analytics. When your ad(s) are clicked on they would go through the redirect page which would log in your analytics goal and land the potential customer on the landing/sales page. - Ron"micronet"Harwood
Thanks I have been searching for this type of ad rotator script to display multiple banners from a pool of affiliate banners. - TrafficBug
Does that script attach a cookie? If not I guess I would need to set up the ads with different redirect links in order to track it. That brings up another question - I heard that pretty links are not trackable in google analytics, is that true? - Tim Brennan
@TrafficBug Hope it works out for you :) - Ron"micronet"Harwood
@Tim I would just have an ad image that links to a redirect page (php) with your affilate link as the redirect. That should credit you for the sale if one happens. Your analytics goal (which would be the redirect page) would show a hit triggered from the redirect page pass through. Or...you possible could use a 1x1 pixel on the redirect page ( I would use a slight delayed redirect) and... more... - Ron"micronet"Harwood
Thanks for your advice, Ron. I'll try that out... - Tim Brennan

Just uploaded a video to show how you can make your podcasts (or any audio product) sound more professional by mixing a couple of pieces of audio together seamlessly on Audacity. Thought it might come in useful for all 30DCers (or 30DCer Plus) who are moving on to create their own products: http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Great vid Lisa Thanks!! Audacity rocks for audio.I have been using the beta1.3 (unicode) version and really like it.If I may add to your tut, you can fine tune the moving of a track(s) by selecting the "Time Shift" icon (the double headed arrow) and then click, hold and move the track with the mouse. Helps to fine align the tracks after doing the align to cursor move :) - Ron"micronet"Harwood
Excellent - will give that a mention in my next tutorial. I'm so used to working with Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition that I forget how things work in Audacity between times! - Lisa
And here it is...thanks Ron: http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Lisa
My pleasure, Thank you for the helpful videos. Subbed to your YouTube and looking forward to more great vids ;) - Ron"micronet"Harwood

Is anyone else suddenly unable to make any posts or PMs on the 30dc forum? Everything I try to write I just get back this: "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters". The forum software also won't let me put in any smilies 8o
If it's just me then I'll have to get a pal to message a forum admin. In that event does anyone know who would be the forum person to contact about it? (PS all the posts I tried to send were way way over 10 characters) - Isha (Marysia)
It's fine for me. Try emailing jon [at] wuranga.com - Lisa

Leo Laporte Makes $1.5 Million Per Year from Podcasting [Video]
"Laporte’s TWiT (This Week in Tech) network does $1.5 million in revenue per year, doubling yearly. His costs, however, are more impressive: it only takes $350,000 per year to run the business with 7 employees." Hasanyone come across Google's new tool Sidewiki? Is it useful?
I've just installed it, and read a little elsewhere - one interesting thing is that Sidewiki comments will appear in Google Search. Anyone can comment on a site - but they need a Google account I think. The site owner gets 1 spot reserved at the top of the comments. You can put links in too but I understand they are Nofollow. - Jonathan Jenkins
the comments actually appear in Google Search?! if that's true, that could.. well, mean a lot - Juho Tunkelo
I'm pretty sure that people have to subscribe to Sidewiki for the comments appear in their Google Search results. - Isha (Marysia)

Great 30DCplus lesson on PDF content creation quick question how to upload to wpd blog anyone? Here's my attempt at content @ed_dale
Nice PDF Groobers :) A question about your question. Are wanting to upload the pdf for others to download or to have as a post? - Ron"micronet"Harwood
Hi Ron I was going to upload it as a pdf for download, I never thought about having it as a post, that is an even better idea, any tips on doing either would be good :) I have uploaded a pdf before in weebly but never with wpd so have no clue. I like the idea of it just being a hand written post but no clue how to achieve this? - Groobers
I don't know about WPD, but why not upload it to scribd or another file storage service and share the download link in your blog ;) - Jorge Blanco
@Groobers I don't think it is possible to upload it from within your WPD contrl panel. The best way to upload it (or any file) is with FTP. I use Filezilla which is very easy to use. All your FTP info is shown in your WPD "manage websites" area. ** If you need help setting up FTP, Direct message me here or PM on the forum**. You would just upload your PDF to your server and than link to... more... - Ron"micronet"Harwood
Thanks for the help, I may just take you up on the offer :) If anyone is looking for me I'll be in my cpanel ;) cheers again - Groobers from BuddyFeed

Right from the outset, I do not use Traffic-Bug. Furthermore, I do not think any self-respecting individual should either. Using Traffic-Bug is the equivalent of crapping where you eat. The ultimate outcome of Traffic Bug and services like it will be to negate any positive effect of social media in boosting one's ranking in the major indices. I'm...
Traffic Bug doesn't post to social media other than bookmarking sites, which don't count for much in rankings already. Near as I can tell, TB links are fairly low-quality. It might get your site indexed faster, but it doesn't really seem to help with ranking. I'm doubtful about the long-term value of the service. - Bob Ress
Hi Bob, Thanks for the feedback on this question. Frankly, what I'm most concerned about is the ethos that the TB approach de facto endorses. I think it's the wrong message for Ed to be sending out. The 30DC is just fine without TB and "services" like it. As far as I'm concerned TB is a cash grab of the lowest order and Ed should not be promoting it, especially if he values his... more... - Sam Sotiropoulos from email
