Can anyone tell me what the teams do for you in the 30dc. Does it really help to be a part of a team? If so how do you choose one that is right for you. What are you really looking for in joining a team?
Compatible people. Although you each work on your own project, team members can help keep you on track and answer your questions; together you can help each other test your sites and give opinions on what's working. What project they're working on is less important than whether working with them is fun for you. 8-) Of course, I could be wrong . . .

I also have found collaborating to be worthwhile... Working together, creating content for one another, cross promotion, etc. For example, everyone who is interested in joining our team is welcome, but we need people to be willing to help each other and share insights. It might not be advisable to "share" a project with a stranger, but if you know friends who are interested in the 30dc it could be the motivation you need to keep it going throughout the year. Synergy = greater than sum of individual parts. Etc. Etc.

most people can lie to themselves quite easily. They might be white lies about why you "can't do" something. A LOT harder to have that accountability lodged with a third party. Do yourself a favour and make sure you have a team that will kick your bottom when you slack up...and you will, it's human nature for 95% of people!

Thank you for all of your comments. Being a mom on everyone else's schedule I do have the tendency to get pulled away from my own scheduling. I do like being held accountable, it really helps out.
