Today... I was spammed by a spammer. He put me on a list that I never signed up for. Then when I clicked on the unsubscribe button... It auto-subscribed me to another list!!! Needless to say, I complained to the website program to which he auto-subscribed me... But I think that was clever...
Unfortunately a lot of spammers will send emails suggesting you signed up for something you didn't then offer an unsubscribe link. The minute you click it you confirm you are a real person that they can spam some more! - Lisa
So I guess the lesson here is to ignore any email newsletters and messages that you didn't sign up for. I heard the spammers can even confirm whether or not the mail was opened using embedded images... they are a real plague - Jorge Blanco

Just set up a gmail filter and you can sort out all newsletters easily - TrafficBug

I agree and by learning the hard way by using one of my branded email addresses in the beginning. Gmail is the way to go for sites that you are not so sure you want to have a long relationship with them. - Karen Purves
