That's really an unfortunate story... Is there a way to easily digg a story within FF? or is the best way to use FF to get to your digg profile?
- Frankie Warren
I think twitter made the right choice. Isn't there a block option anyway?

best way to digg a story is to click the "digg" link and then find it under the user's dugg section. It would be nice if there was an easier way to get directly to digg stories on FF.

Tyson, if Twitter made the right choice then they shouldn't have that language in their TOS. If you are going to have that in there you need to enforce it in my opinion.
- Thomas Hawk
harrassment if no one is listening? Sounds too much like he said she said. If she didn't want to hear the chatter turn it off. It was her responisbility (and had the tools) not Twitter's.

The TOS is clear - I can be patient about downtime, I can't understand this. Bad business and community decision, Jack.

Doesn't Ariel work for a competing service? Is that a factor here?
- Brian Sullivan
If you read the comments on the site it looks like the Digg crowd arrived. C-bombs everywhere
- Andrew Smith
Brian, Ariel works for Pownce. This is disclosed on her blog and her post. I don't think that working for a competitor means that Twitter should not honor their TOS though. I think she has every right to be mad about this. Lots of people use both services. Kevin Rose is one of the founders of Pownce and still is one of the top subscribed people on Twitter. I don't think this is a factor in this case.

It does seem strange that the timing of this post and discussion is same time as Twitter is trying to dig itself out of a host of other problems. Though come to think of it Twitter hasn't been without problems lately so maybe just a coincidence?
- Brian Sullivan
Hmm, take a look at @ev's latest tweet: "Note: Before joining a mob, you might want to check if everything they're saying/assuming is true."
- Mike Doeff
I find this whole episode rather interesting in terms of timing, the people involved and what is taking place. I also wonder if @ev's latest tweet is an attempt at blame misdirection.
- Scott Jarkoff
Quote from Twitter Product Manager http://snurl.com/2a65x "As a communication utility, Twitter does not get involved in these disputes between users over issues of content except in limited circumstances. Twitter is a provider of information, not a mediator. Specific physical threats, certain legal obligations, privacy breaches of specific types of information (e.g. SSN, credit cards), and misleading impersonation are some cases where we may become involved and potentially terminate an account."
- Mike Doeff
Mike, if that's Twitter's position then they shouldn't use the terms that they do in their TOS. They took those from Flickr and Flickr clearly does get involved in disputes between users and has kicked many users from the site for violating their TOS. I think it's reasonable for a user to expect them to uphold their TOS.
- Thomas Hawk
Thomas, I agree that their actions are not consistent with their TOS. I'd like to see Twitter take a more aggressive stance against trolls & griefers. Seems to me that they are positioning themselves as a network operator and not a social network that has some obligation to moderate the community.
- Mike Doeff
To the people who think it's not that bad anyway: Stalking is bad, it's not just something you "look away and everything's fine". If they have the TOS, they have to enforce them if they want them to be taken seriously. If what Ariel said isn't lied, what I don't believe because most people don't make up e-mails and telephone conversation notes, Ev's response is really a shame. Twitter's really getting the negative PR, but this incident shows that they clearly deserve it.
