Reasons why I unfollow someone on Twitter | Brad Grier | bradgrier.com - http://blog.bradgrier.com/2009...
"I just realized that I cut and pasted out this section…doh! So, why do I unfollow? If you’re not interesting to me, if you spam me, if you try and get me interested in YOUR make money fast scheme, if you don’t tweet in 300 days, or if, after I search your tweet history, I find you’re mostly talking about things I’m not interested in….if you fit into any of those categories, odds are I’ll not be following you for very long. Sorry, it’s nothing personal, I just don’t have the time or bandwidth to follow you in a meaningful way. To assist me in managing who I follow, I’ve used the following tools: * Friend or Follow (thanks @frostedbetty!) - a simple way to check out the status of folk you follow * Twitter Twerp Scan - applies analysis and ranking to people you follow to derive a ‘value’ * Twitter Karma - a great interface to ‘batch’ manage who you’re following * Twitoria - checks the last tweet age of folks you’re following" - Thomas Hawk from Bookmarklet
I haven't put that much thought into why I follow or unfollow someone. I follow because I think they'll be interesting. I unfollow if they do something to annoy me. Annoying behavior doesn't have to fit into any of prescribed categories. Annoying is just annoying. That's good enough to push the button. - William Beem
yes, killed my puppy would be a good reason to unfollow. - Thomas Hawk
"Now I'm having a cappuccino" "Now I'm drinking a latte", "Now I'm about to have a shower" are reasons enough for me to unfollow. I should say were as I've not been using Twitter for a while. - M F
"fucked my wife" or "killed my puppy" would yield more than an "unfollow" action from me. and totally unrelated but, TH, you are not following me :( - Plug1
actually Plug1 I am following you. You're also on my superfaves list. :) - Thomas Hawk
@TH: hmm. i do not see you on my "Following" list on Twitter. not a biggie, either way. i think we have enough ways of contacting each other :-) - Plug1
ahhh, you're right. it's because I'm following your tweets here on FF. Just subscribed at Twitter as well though. :) - Thomas Hawk
lol, "Thomas Hawk is now following you on Twitter" and all is well... - Plug1
If only FF would let you "follow on Twitter" when you added a twitter feed here. Make FriendFeed a better social client than each of the sites it supports. Couple that with more "find related" links for URLs posted and you could really start to pull together a social net around each topic posted. - Kevin Kuphal
I don't really use Twitter that much but I think someone has to follow you for you to DM them. I wish I could just autofollow anyone I'm following on FF on Twitter as well. - Thomas Hawk
One reason I unfollow sometimes is too much talk about follower numbers and the like. I'm just NOT interested in your follower numbers! - Iphigenie
”Anthony, it is nice to be following you! Please to follow me, also, and tell me of your online business, so we help each others with fruitful success!” - Anthony Citrano
autofollow would be nice on Flickr, too. - Plug1
I wish FriendFeed could synch up with Flickr and show me everyone on Friendfeed that I'm following on Flickr but not on FriendFeed yet. That would be a really helpful discovery tool. I also wish that I could use my flickrmail to invite all of my flickr contacts to my Friendfeed stream. Another thing I can't do today. - Thomas Hawk
