It was a very good and fruitful conversation.

Great interview, and lots of good tips. But here a few questions that I would have had based on my on daily photo projects. Are most of your photos near where you live or do you travel a lot to shoot photos? Do you even travel a lot in S.F. or do you just take shots when you’re running errands, etc.? I heard in the interview that you shot like 3,000 photos in Chicago, so is that pretty normal for you? Does your day job allow you to travel a lot?

Bakari, I LOVE traveling to shoot. It's a real treat. But most of my photos are around where I live. Mostly just walking around the streets of SF, Oakland, Berkeley, etc. A lot of times they are exactly as you describe, a few shots while I'm running errands, a few shots to and from work. 30 minutes during my lunch break. Sometimes though I'll go shoot for several hours in the afternoon as well. More and more I'm thinking of trips though. I just got back from Bakersfield/Mojave/Arrowhead and loved it. I shot over 13,000 frames actually in Chicago. My day job doesn't allow a lot of travel but I can usually get away for a long weekend here or there. I'm going to go to Vegas in two weeks I think and shoot more there. It's kind of a combination of all of these things.

Thanks, Thomas for responding back. It’s pleasing to know that both of us are thinking along the same lines. Of course, I would much rather shoot in the Bay Area than in Sacto anytime. I and a friend of mine did a brief shoot in China Town (http://www.flickr.com/photos...) a few months ago, and it was way beyond what I’ve experienced here Sac. Also, I’ve talked briefly with my wife about possibly taking some weekend trips for photo shoots. I plan to do the Scott Kelby photowalk in Santa Cruz this year, but I would also like to find a way to do some quick, cheap get-away weekend trips to some photogenic hotspots outside of Sac or even Calif.. Anyway, you’re an inspiration, and I definitely plan on revisiting your site.
