"Austin's outfit was horrible, but it could have been a few steps up from horrible if he'd just left the ruffle off the sweater. It still wouldn't have made the outfit good by any stretch, but he might have bested Kara, at least, which shouldn't have been a problem for him. I was really sweating it out during the eliminations, though - Michael, Austin and Mondo are my three favourites this season (Anthony was my other ::sob::) and while there are a number of people KENLEY I would have loved to have see leave before Rami, out of the options we had, I'm glad it was Rami who left. That green shirt was dreadful - the stitching on those weird seams in that colour made me think of a Frankenstein monster. The blue jacket was incredible, though!"

"Seems to me that Newt's association with the Toffler's ideas should be hung like an albatross around his neck the same way conservatives hang Bill Ayers around Obama's neck."

"I'd really enjoyed the Muppet Quickfire challenge during the Top Chef All-Star season, so I was actually looking forward to this one when I heard Miss Piggy would be guest-judging. I think its fun to see the contestants having so much fun with the concept and how delighted they are at not just getting a chance to "meet" a favourite memory from childhood, but also have a great story to tell thier own kids (if they have them, of course,) knowing how happy it's going to make the child. Yeah, ok, so it's kind of a silly challenge, but no more so than making an outfit from the 99 cent store, you know? I hope EW will get a picture of Miss Piggy in the dress so we can see how it came out :)"

"Sweet P's dress was fugly and inappropriate for the opera, no doubt about it, but it could potentially have been worn SOMEPLACE (even if it was just something like Awards Night at the State Fair) but April's dress was so bad it would be completely unwearable. The bottom really did look like it had been dipped in oil or something, and it's OBVIOUS the fabric was dyed as you can still see so much of the red showing through at the bottom. And while asymmetry can add some wonderful dynamics to a dress, it needs to look intentional. They way April did the top of the dress, it ends up looking like the dress was just a bit too small for the wearer, so the added some extra fabric, but only on ONE side of it, pushing the centre of the neckline and the "V" trim beneath it off to one side."

"Austin absolutely MUST show his true self this week... the "real" Austin Scarlett is such a divine creature, and he comes up with such fascinating creations, I desparately want to be able to see him all the way into the finals! Of course, much the same can be said for Mondo, and I thought he truly deserved the win this week. I could see someone going out for a night on the town in his outfit with no real modifications - you can't say that about Rami's. I respect that he was trying to make nice big rolls on the shoulders, but the natural tendency of a shopping bag to square out gives it a very awkward look to me. As for Kenley, the sooner she goes away, the happier I will be."

"I hadn't been familiar with Isaac as a personality until I saw him on Bravo's attempt at replacing Project Runway - "The Fashion Show" - but I found him so intriguing that I'm absolutely thrilled that he's now on PR itself :D I *really* miss Tim - though I'm glad they didn't try to find a faux Tim to fill in, and I miss Heidi, but I appreciate that they're bringing in a whole new set of judges/mentor/host for the all-stars so that it's a completely clean slate. There were so many questions about the judging - especially during the Mondo/Gretchen fiasco - that I think this was a VERY wise decision. I can't wait for more!"

"I actually like how the show doesn't go for the obvious fairy-tale jokes and comments. There are a LOT of subtle references in the show (such as in the next episode - the Rapunzel one - where they find the girl living in a tree house "tower" but no one ever uses the word "tower." The writers just seem to assume that the audience is smart enough to pick up on the references without them needing to point them all out to us, and I LOVE it when a show respects my intelligence."

"I think he did both of his tours prior to taping the show. It's only been a couple of months since he died, and unless they filmed the show quite awhile ago, I don't think there was time for him to have done the show and returned stateside between filming and airing. Either way, though, it's tragic."

"Andy, do you know when the show was filmed? I know on a lot of the reality competition shows like this, all of the cast members remain sequestered even after elimination, so that no one outside the cast and staff of the show knows for sure who was eliminated when. I would presume that "Next Great Baker" does it that way as well, but do you know for sure?"

"That's an excellent suggestion. As part of the packet, she should also get a statement from each police department who has checked out tips that her daughter may be Lisa stating that the tips have been investigated and that the police have determined to their satisfaction that the child is NOT Lisa. The letters from the police could be helpful when dealing with both well-intentioned people who think they may be helping save a child *and* with other police officers she ends up having to deal with. I really feel bad for this woman, though. That has to be an absolute nightmare!"

"The Florida Family Organization that is sponsoring this campaign has one of those "fill out this form and we'll email it to everyone on our target list" options on its website (http://florida-family.org/take.... Luckily, it lets you change both the subject and the entire text of the message, so I went ahead and wrote my own letter urging the companies on their targeting list to ignore the FFO's demands. I think this is one of the more despicable campaigns I've seen in a while. Hopefully, no other company will be stupid enough to fall for it."

"It doesn't matter if he used it or not. The contract he signed specifically forbade anyone from even *having* pattern books. IIRC, he also had left the production area and had made a few calls, another big no-no. I don't think the issue was explained well on the episode, and until I found out about the above info, I thought it was rather lame as well, but the clincher for me is his signing a contract that states "no pattern books" and he brought them anyway. That's just stupidity."

"On "Sanitarium (Welcome Home)" during the instrumental break right before the line "Fear of living on / Natives getting restless now" and during that verse, they actually are using the same chord progression and timing as Rush does in "Tom Sawyer" (it's the section that goes with the lyrics "No his mind is not for rent / to any god or government.") Metallica did it as an homage to Rush, and there's even a thanks to Rush in the liner notes for that album ("Master of Puppets")"

"@5e8e9917d9529515c6256345429013af Back in the mid-70's, when I first heard of Rush, I HATED them - simply because of Geddy's voice. Then a friend of mine got me to listen to a couple instrumentals they'd done, and I found myself so stoked by the music itself that I decided I was going to get past the voice issue so I could listen to more of their stuff. I did that by focusing on the guitar lines (guitar has always been one of my favourite instruments,) and it wasn't long at all before I realized that Geddy's voice didn't bother me in the least any longer. And, of course, since then, his voice has actually mellowed quite a bit. There no more shreiking (unless he's doing one of their older songs in concert, but it's easy not to listen to those - don't go to any concerts or buy their live albums - *g*) and his tonality has warmed up considerably. They do have several instrumentals you might enjoy if you like their musicianship - La Villa Strangiato (from Farewell to Kings, best version..."

"Some of Rush's earliest music might be considered somewhat "pompous" but they're getting ready to release their 20th album, and while they'll never be "mainstream" as they've matured, so has their music - considerably. And Geddy's voice may be something of an acquired taste, but even though it was initially off-putting, their instrumental prowess is such that in no time, I found I'd grown not just used to it, but rather fond of it - and, it's another thing that has gotten toned down over the years. As for their qualifications, well, they have been frequently cited by bands over the last 2 decades as significant influences, and hey last two or three tours they've done, they've had to add extra dates to accommodate the demand for tickets. It's not uncommon to see two or three generations of a family together at their shows, and the band itself has had a the same lineup for over 35 years. Each member is considered to be a virtuoso of his instrument, and even as they're nearing their..."

"I really can't stand Lola, and I'd actually feel bad for Sucklord if she decides to try and pursue her idea of a "romance" there... (I'm not entirely sure she understands the concept of "romance" - or most other human emotions, really... she always strikes me as just a bit alien, but that may just be because she gets on my nerves.)"

"It was their going back in time that created the alternate universe. It wasn't something that already existed and they slid into, but a whole new branch that developed specifically because of their actions. Abrams DOES love the whole "alternate universe" thing, though, doesn't he?"
- Kriselda Jarnsaxa
"I have to say, I absolutely LOVE the "alternate time line" concept that allows Abrams (and anyone who might follow him) to create truly new stories using beloved characters. All of Star Trek's history as we know it still exists, in the original time line, so all that made Trek great in the first place is preserved, while allowing for new ideas to be explored - including different social issues - something Trek has always addressed - some of which may not have existed them or at least had not yet been recognized. I'm excited for the next chapter, and hope there will be many more to come!"

"I have a soft spot for Chris J, and like Nyesha after seeing her earn her job as executive chef at Wilshire on "Chef Hunter," but they both seem to like being in the bottom a bit much, so it's making rooting a bit hard. I kinda like Edward, though it'll be interesting to see if that lasts, depending on his snark factor. Other than that, I'm still really trying to sort everyone out. I'm having fun watching it, though, so that's something I suppose, eh?"

"I think Regina adopted Henry - via Mr. Gold, IIRC, making it likely she knew the special origin of the boy (otherwise why have someone so good at acquiring specific and special things) - because she KNEW he was Emma's son, and that his presence would somehow bring Emma to Storybooke, where Regina could destroy her before she could destroy the curse."

"It's been a couple weeks since I last heard anything, but initially, at least, the Chew (what a HORRID name!) was getting significantly worse ratings in its time slot than AMC did. I hope that has continued - it certainly is a nice bit of schadenfreude! As for watching ABC in general, pretty much the only time they've had to pitch their nighttime shows to me over the last several years has been via promos run during OLTL. I found a few shows I liked that way. Without OLTL, ABC has lost their ability to reach me as a viewer at all, and I don't really care. I have NO interest in giving them any more support Aside from the sadness over losing such a great story (and story-telling medium) as OLTL and soaps in general, the only thing I regret is that because I refuse to support ABC, I haven't been able to support Top Chef's Carla in her new position on "The Chew" (STILL a horrid name!) I've adored Carla since her initial season and her recent return on the "All-Star" season was brilliant...."
