I have a couple of my startup applications loading up twice (only 2 out of all of them). They are not in the two different startup folders (for my user and for all users). I've had this before and it required a simple registry edit I think. Can anyone help?
If I put the two apps in one of the startup folders they don't load up at all, if I put them in the other startup folder I get them twice. I've cleaned up the startup apps with msconfig too but no joy.

INSHA ALLAH i will be pleased to know that i am vista user but when i use ie8 it does not work while google chrome goes and when use firefox it does not let ie8 work.thank you indeed if you please suggest for me the better browser
- NawabIkramullah khan
Give Startup delayer a try. That's what I use to manage startup apps.

did any of the invites make it yet? they have a really funky invite interface and it is kind of making it seem like I can only invite contacts from services I have ported into inbox2 which will annoy me if its the case
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
grrrr they have the worst invite functionality - so sorry for the delay all - lemme figure out how the hell to send these out
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Sorry gang. I tried twice. If it were just me with the problem, I'd say it was user error...but it appears as if Marco is having issues as well. Their invite setup stinks.
- eEditor
filled out a feedback form - will see if I get a response (it appears to be a simple send a message form vs something more robust and helpful like Get Satisfaction: strike 2 for them)
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Hi there, actually we are also using http://features.inbox2.com/ :-) We'll be moving to something more suited along the way, the feedback form gets the job done for now. But anyways, you can also send invites to people using their email address (they don't have to be in your Inbox2 contact list). I'll bring the "sucks" advice to the attention of our UI designers. @aureliusmaximus I'll look into why your invites are not arriving.
- Waseem Sadiq
Waseem: Would really welcome an invite as people have tried sending one to me but I am yet to receive one. Could you help with that: rohitsonika (at) gmail dot com. Thanks!
- Rohit
Thanks so much Waseem - it tells me to put in the email address, i type it in, it says its searching and doesn't find the contact (but the email address I type is still there), I click the Send Invite button and...nothing. No error message, no message sent notification, no invite cannot be sent - nuthin.
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
anybody receive invites yet? if not i will try again to see if they fixed it
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Marco: Haven't had one yet. You could try rohitsonika(at)gmail.com Thanks!
- Rohit
Hi guys here is an invite code for you, use this link http://www.inbox2.com/account... (limited availability). I would love to hear your opinion on the Inbox2 beta, regardless of whether you love it, hate it or don't care :-) DM me, twitter me @waseemsadiq or send me an email waseem at inbox2.com, Thx for your patience!
- Waseem Sadiq
Waseem: Thanks for the invite! It is finally working.
- Rohit

- Robert

- Sergey
Hello, is there one more invite? hmnunes(at)gmail.com Thx
- HN
Sergey and HN - they have been sent - anyone else see Waseem's comment above for invite code - thanks for your help waseem and thanks to everyone else for being patient!
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Gee..just what I was looking for! Thanks a lot :)
- Rohit
lol this has to qualify by the longest process from invite request to receipt in FriendFeed history - thanks for helping out Waseem - anyone else who is looking for an invite expand the comments and see Waseem's comment highlighting a special FriendFeed invite code

This has to be the first blog on home PC security that I completely concur with. Around 3% of the total risks today come from traditional viruses. Other sources are sites which offer you free smileys, cracks and other malicious sites.

I still haven't forgiven google for ditching notebook! Unfortunately I don't know anything else, still using notebook
- LAST DAY OF WORK
How about Evernote? Not exactly a replacement....but still....
- Rohit
Hrmmm I wonder if I signed up for that and forgot. I must check. Thanks for mentioning it. :)
- aden
What do you use Google Notebook for? Might be easier to tell you a good alternative for the task you're doing, rather than the software you're using.
- The Letter M
Basically using it as a place to put my writing away from home. I write in there when I am at work, instead of writing on Word at work and emailing it home.
- aden
I thought about that, but I honestly am not too fond of Google Docs. Maybe I need to mess with it more, but I am just not fond of the way it is layed out. Yes, I know... I spoke ill of the big G please don't stone me :)
- aden
I used Buzzword for that, and found it to be a much nicer environment than google docs (which I have to admit, I hate. *hate*). Though that appears to not be free anymore. Zoho was okay, still better than Gdocs. What I've been doing lately, though, is using a desktop writing program, and saving the files to a dropbox folder.

Posterous and tumblr are similar in nature. Both are good for short posts and for image oriented posts. WP is great for long posts and the set of plugins just add so much value. Among posterous and tumblr I like Posterous as I find it a little more to the point, simple.. just what it's supposed to be
- | Balu |
Selecting one of those 2 is a personal choice.. chose whichever suits your taste the best
- | Balu |
I already have a blog that runs on wordpress. So which means I'd be better off taking out WP.com and tumblr. Because I guess even I've started liking posterous.
- Rohit
Is there any friendfeed apps for N97 ? I've searched and searched but nothing, just twitter and facebook. I can't upload photos to friendfeed from the Internet browser. thanks
Posterous! They are constantly working to integrate with different systems and dead simple. Tumblr is similar but doesn't keep my attention with features the same as Posterous.
- Nakeva Corothers
Tumblr. Cuz I saw it before I saw Posterous.
- Steven Perez
I've been thinking about moving to Posterous. I use Tumblr right now, though.
- Jason Huebel
I'm still weighing them. but I'm using Posterous almost exclusively right now & autoposting everything to tumblr.
- jbrotherlove
posterous, cleaner simpler interface, & very similar functionality in terms of media
- sofarsoShawn
Hmm, seems like posterous is gaining a lot of traction. Can you map it to your own domain and theme it? (Like I have my tumblr right now at tumblr.the-frame.com and it matches the rest of my site like it's part of it.)
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
I guess guys talking about ease of use... it can go either way: Posterous - email update is so straightforward; Tumblr - if you login to post, it's got templates for you, e.g. quotes, videos, photos, which is actually a lot nicer than just an HTML email interface. I use both but I did think of keeping just one of them... Well, if that happens, I'm leaning towards keeping Posterous.
- Jackie
Both: Posterous for broadcasting to other sites/services, Tumblr for sharing directly on Tumblr with the ability to monetize via Google Ads, affiliate ads, etc. Tumblr allows for great flexibility with adding html to your Tumblr site. Until Posterous allows for some sort of monetization of my content, I will be pointing visitors to my other sites and simply use Posterous as a broadcast tool to deliver content to those sites.
- Louis Trapani
both! love posterous because i can post to a single address via my mail and tumblr because it holds things differently but these two can't replace my wordpress and blogger :)
- ffcode
@Sanat, sure if you are Guy Kawasaki. Whenever I tried to add any customized code (i.e. Google Ads) it was stripped out of Posterous.
- Louis Trapani
Uhm, posterous because I always forget about tumblr even though i've had it for longer. Oh yeah! And posterous posts to other places.
- Adrian Scicluna
Tumblr. Posterous can't post "javascript:" links.
- LouCypher
I would prefer Tumblr but for their bad SEO. I had the Tumblr blog for quite some time and it doesn't quite come up in search results. Posterous on the other hand, comes up though I started having it just recently. I really wish Posterous makes posting from their web interface as good as Tumblr.
- Pavan
Posterous. Simply because it makes transferring those sudden thoughts to web pretty simple. Posterous is more about quick babbles. Tumblr is more formal.
- Amit
Expanding on my previous comment: Tumblr, because I can post by e-mail (separate e-mail addresses for each Tumblr you create), sharing to Twitter, Facebook and FriendFeed; posting by IM via AOL IM; sharing on my website with a bit of HTML code; and I can call in audio posts; sharing comments with Disqus; and a nifty little bookmarklet that is a lot more versatile than the FriendFeed bookmarklet. Oh, and I like blue better than gold.
- Steven Perez
from IM
Posterous is easy. Tumblr is hard. I've loved using Posterous so far.
- Mike Nayyar
Everything Posterous can do Tumblr can do better. Have people who say Posterous is easier to use used Tumblr? I don't know how you can make it easier than allowing you to email your posts or giving you a text box.
- Mark Trapp
FireFox: I used to love you. Really. You remember!! But now I feel like, I dunno... you're not the Fox I fell in love with. These days I can barely stand you enough to even get near you. 2 GB of memory? Spikes to 100% of CPU? Unwatchable Flash video? Sorry, but I've really gotta find a way to quit you.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I've tried disabling all extensions... but then why not Chrome?
- Richard pancakhaus Walker
I have had issues with firefox for a while. I don't use extensions and it is the slowest thing around. I I have found Safari and Stainless to be the most reliable browsers that I use. Chrome is way to unstable. It crashes within a couple minutes every time I try to use it.
- Corey Harris
I stick with Firefox cuz she knows all the special tricks I like. Opera is my mistress... she's always waiting in the background for the times I lose my patience. :)
- Gus
Works OK here on Linux with more than 60 extensions installed. My machine is pretty old and has only 1GB of RAM. I think it's some add-on or combination of add-ons that causes it, not FF itself.
- prozacfield
Chrome is simply not ready for prime time, especially for us Mac kids. I only have FF extensions installed that I really need/use; nothing extraneous. I've also - like Corey and Richard - tried disabling *all* my add-ons for extended periods and the issues persist. It's the product, not the add-ons. Finally, if I can't use my add-ons, I might as well not use FireFox, because that's the main reason I've stuck with FF so long.
- Anthony Citrano
Holy crap, 100% CPU usage? Wtf are you doing on Firefox?? 0_o
- Itachi
Chrome's great on Windows - not so good on OSX
- Don Bonaddio
I found CoolIris was slowing down my Firefox so I uninstalled it and installed it on Flock instead. Now when I need to use it I just go to Flock. I think I'm going to install anything bloaty that I like on Flock. Then keep Firefox really zippy with only greasemonkey and a few key extensions while going to Flock for the other stuff whenever I need to.
- Thomas Hawk
Thomas Hawk: How you find that ex. made your FF slow?
- Amin
Agree with Thomas that CoolIris slows down FF but removing CoolIris doesn't seem to make FF much more usable from here...
- Anthony Citrano
I've already given up on FF ... i stuck with it way too long and the problems just wouldn't go away. So far i am liking Chrome on the Mac for what i want it to do ... that is not to say that i feel seriously crippled trying to use Chrome like i used to use FF. Can't wait for it to become stable enough for regular use. But i wonder where the FF i knew has gone to :(
- Bhowmik Shah
the extensions and plugins can really wreak havoc on FFox... especially on windows. switched to Mac and using a minimal set of extensions, much better now...
- Juho Tunkelo
And then there was a flash of light, and Chrome..
- Rohit
I moved to Chrome on Windows at the beginning of this year, and Safari 4 on Macs. Their speed at opening is similar, and paramount for me to the point that I am willing to do without extensions. I found that FF has become as bloated as IE and - unfortunately - as much of a security risk. One good drive-by malware install off an ad, and it took me days to recover. That simply doesn't...
- Cole Jolley
If you keep upgrading Firefox instead of reinstalling every major release, the gunk accumulated over time *will* wreak havoc with your Firefox. If your Firefox starts behaving strangely or annoyingly, try a complete reinstallation: Uninstall, remove your Firefox profile dirs, then reinstall. This is not Firefox's fault per se, but because of complex interaction between Firefox, extensions, and plug-ins. Not to mention some extensive datastore evolution (e.g., migration to SQLite)
- Pandu ● IT Optimizer
from fftogo
I gave up on Firefox and switched to Chrome.
- Mike Reynolds
I didn't give up on ffx but I've been using chrome primarilly for almost a year now.

Okay, second hint: If I'm amused enough by a number to bring it up, it's one of two numbers. And since I'm not talking about Adams, it's not 42.
- LAST DAY OF WORK
72; the number of raisins (earlier believed to be virgins based on a misinterpretation of the word "huri") you're awarded if you play your cards right down here :)
- Eivind
Really, it's raisins?! Shit, suddenly terrorism is more appealing... still pretty unappealing, though. *is hooked on golden raisins lately* Also, it's not 72 but you're close. Think naughtier?
- LAST DAY OF WORK
69. What's the prize? Has it got anything to do with the number?
- Eivind
I went to the store to buy a drink, and realized I had $69.69 exactly in my pocket. I almost shit my pants. The cashier was unimpressed, thank atheist nothing for social networking. ALL CAN REVEL IN THIS MIRACLE!
- LAST DAY OF WORK
I'm not sure if it's a good thing I anticipated this answer. :)
- Heather
C'mon Heather, of course 69 is a good thing! That's the whole point of being an atheist...
- LAST DAY OF WORK
Water on Earth looks blue because it reflects the blue sky. Can someone explain to me how the water in this shot is blue when there is no blue sky on the moon. Checks diary. No, it's not April.
- Gilbert Harding
"Data from three spacecraft indicate that a thin film of water coats the surface of the soil in at least some spots" So yes the "photo" is slightly altered. There where only four paragraphs to read folks.
- John Cooper
i should have made clear that the photo is not an actual photo from the moon..
- Zee.
"Let me put out my list after 5 days of use: 1. Doesn't play avi files. There's no way I can use that massive 32GB memory for anything other than mp3. 2. Still waiting for the kinetic scrolling which comes in the next firmware upgrade 3. I wish symbian was clear about where they'd use double tap and where they'd use a single tap. 4. The irritating scratches on the camera cover. And the picture quality isn't as too great either.. But I guess the N97 is something like those devices which grows over time. A brilliant device with a lot of scope for improvement..which is better than a device which has already maxed out."
