Ok, people, what is it with the electronic greeting cards this holiday? Why are you sending me jpegs of the Himalayas accompanied by phrases I recognize from yoga class (“Peace to you and all living things …”)? Why am I being asked to download elaborate animation videos featuring singing snowmen or a Nativity scene with a manger that looks... - http://misterjt.tumblr.com/post...
The dishes prepared by Chef Sedler was a fusion of Spanish influences and the American Southwest and started with a cocktail, a Pineapple and Serrano Licuado with Honey Infused Tequila. It was a refreshing cocktail that didn’t initially give you any heat, but as you continued to drink it, you could feel a little bit of at the back of your throat.... - http://misterjt.tumblr.com/post...
I wish that, just once, some terrorist would try something that you can only foil by upgrading the passengers to first class and giving them free drinks. - http://misterjt.tumblr.com/post...
"In a heartier take on eggs on toast, swap bread for heftier taters for a more substantial breakfast -- with the crunch and creamy interior of fresh potato pancakes topped with the protein-packed runny egg yolk, you may never want to return to a bread-and-butter base."

Tune in tomorrow, when I try and look even more horrific.

i should take a camera phone shot of myself just after i take off my CPAP mask in the morning. i look like a fscking corpse, and not a fresh one.

I think I just won the Embarrassing Photo Meme. Forever. :D
- Steven Perez
He sends me e-mail sometimes.. about transferring large amounts of money and getting a share for helping. :p
- Jemm
No, I had some friends who have tweeted about the same connection that you suggest. In fact one of those tweets is oddly right above this one in my homefeed.
- Melanie Reed
ZOMG, this file is huge. The track is 11 minutes long, but it's one of my favorite songs ever. If there's a Heaven, surely Thelonious is there tickling the ivories.
- Derrick
I just listened to this all the way through, it's simply fantastic.
- Derrick
Listening now. Ahhh.... :) My version on The Columbia Years, Disc 2 is only 5:19. ??
- Ayşe E.
Ayse, it sounds like the version I have (from The Essential Thelonious Monk) is a live version, if that makes any difference.
- Derrick
w00t! Looks like I need the Essential Monk. :) (still groovin')
- Ayşe E.
Monk is the best! The Composer is one of my favorite albums of all time. ALL TIME! Can't wait to give this a listen.

A pro soloist would have to find it easy to solo over Monk's vamping. He lays such a solid foundation in which you hear the melody line the whole time, it's amazing. Even the second roll through the solo before he cuts entirely. Lovely, lovely stuff.
- Rick Cogley
Vince Guaraldi seems to have been influenced by Monk, but who wouldn't be. Doesn't this tune "remind" you of some of the Peanuts music? I think there's at least a modal relationship.
- Rick Cogley
I'm such an introvert. I have a social hangover. Does anyone else ever get these? At least that's what I call it, when you need a quiet day to recover from all the holiday social interaction.
i know EXACTLY what you mean. i sometimes get them as soon as i've gotten home...or even on the way back from some event or gathering.
- Joe Silence
Doesn't really apply just to the holidays, but I notice it a lot more after large holiday gatherings.
- Trish R
Someone once defined introversion and extroversion to me this way: An extrovert is energized, or gains energy, from the people around them, while introverts expend energy around people. The definition was meant to emphasize that introverts don't necessarily hate people; many do enjoy the company of others. They are just exhausted by them, so they need time to recharge. I found the definition to be spot on for me.
- rowlikeagirl
@rowlikeagirl, that definition is spot on for me, too. That's how I describe it to people who don't understand, and especially when people think extrovert means outgoing and introvert means shy and quiet.
- Trish R
I just packed up my stuff and will be headed back to LA shortly.

I always do that the following day. Now I have a term for it.
- Raphael, Raphael
aye, now i can tell my wife i have a "social hangover" instead of her just thinking i'm going nuts again.
- Joe Silence
YES! I know what you mean, because it happens to me quite often. I enjoy seeing friends and family, but it is exhausting to the point that I could just collapse in the spare room for a day or so (if given the chance, which never happens.)
- Mark "DerBingle" J
I'm extroverted (moreover) and it certainly applies to me too, Trish.

M., do you feel cut off sometimes?
- cecily
from iPhone
No, I don't. I don't miss Christmas or Christmas traditions at all. It perplexes B because I used to really, really dig presents. I read a quote once in a book about a little kid who commented that yeah her Christian friends "get Christmas but we get Hanukkah and Shabbat!" I find that to be true. We take Shabbat pretty seriously in my house and it is awesome. Since adulthood Christmas...

- Michelle Jones
I am glad, Michelle. I did feel cut off for a few years, in the beginning. I got used to it. It was probably better that way. With no need not to be multi-celebrational anymore, Christmas has returned like an old enemy.

I found some jeans on sale and got them for Alton. When he unwrapped his gift he said, "OMG!!! I got new pants! I am so excited!" He's wearing them now. =)

...but it would only be cool to you and a few other people but if you tell your co-workers or family it might be lame to them or you would have to explain the history of it, at length, in an attempt to communicate just how mind blowingly cool it was etc... I spoke to Leo, John C and Lisa Bettany live on TWiT this morning... I'm really am not trying to brag, I just know my friends here would share in the mind-blowing-awesomeness of it and what it means to me... That's why I love you guys on FriendFeed :)

2 votes for TWiK. Looking forward to it. :)
- Ken Morley
Heard you on TWiT on my Monday morning ritual listen. Great job.
- David Imielski
Finally got to listen to the episode this morning. I gave a little squee of nerdjoy for you, JW. Congrats on making the big time. :-) Sounds like Leo wants to use you as his Australian foreign correspondent, too.
- Jason Huebel
WHA?! Felt like a little earthquake just now .. I´ve got to find this now, Worthingtonizer :)

You rock. When I grow up, I want to be you.

Did Lisa say anything about me? (He asked, delusionally and yet so so hopefully!)

I thought that I read somewhere that they were changing the martial arts theme of this movie to Kung Fu (and even naming it Kung Fu Kid)? If this picture is all that you're going by, it's not definitive that this is Karate (horse stance exists in Kung Fu, as well).
- Chieze Okoye
I believe the trailer calls it The Karate Kid.
- Joe Pierce
i love how people think the original was a work of art ;) it was fun.. but so will this. just remember, styles have changed. unfortunately the kids films of the 80s were much better than the ones of today...
- Terry O'Fee
It was. It's a cultural thing. You can't paint the Mona Lisa again.. It's not the best piece of cinema ever made, but it's ours

They really need to do something about the "karate" part. Perhaps we can invite the Chinese Minister of Culture (assuming there is such a position) to view the opening of this film at the Yasukuni Shrine (dedicated to soldiers who died in service of the Emperor of Japan) in Tokyo.
- Christopher A Carr
well keep that in your thoughts and ignore this one. the original isn't going away. i feel the same with these terrible terminator films and tv shows that keep coming out as well. T2 is a part of my childhood. i hear bad thoughts that both robocop and total recall are being remade as well...
- Terry O'Fee
RoboCop has a chance to be good, but I understand your sentiment. It's Darren Aranofsky.
- Christopher A Carr
hardly.. we saw how well 3 went. and the two tv series. even the frank miller comic was only "meh"
- Terry O'Fee
I'm not sure that any of that constitutes evidence.
- Christopher A Carr
aaronofski still hasnt committed.. i bet you he becomes an "advisor" like that boat film which name escapes me...

"Cook oil and flour in a large Dutch oven over medium-low heat, whisking constantly, until roux is chocolate colored (about 35 to 40 minutes). Stir in celery, onion, and bell pepper; cook 7 minutes, stirring often. Add garlic; cook 2 minutes. Gradually stir in Duck Stock and next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add duck meat; simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in oysters and fresh basil. Let stand 5 minutes. Serve over hot rice. I remember back in grade school, when something bad happened to someone, or they were proven wrong, you'd do some gesture with your hand near your eye and mockingly say to the person, "Ooh, SIZZLE-LEAN!"
- Derrick
ha, derrick. yeah, the commercial was pop. with us in grade school, too. And pity the plumper children--like moi--who had to hear the catchphrase if they were in someone's way. :|
