Using Squidoo. Can anhyone recommend the best way to link to Amazon? Is it better to use the Squidoo modules or my own Amazon links in a text module? I believe potential earnings are about the same, but I did read about better ranking if using Squidoo modules. Anyone know from experience? Thanks
I think the commission you would get via Squidoo would be less than the commission direct from Amazon - Squidoo take their own cut of the commission
- Lisa
Yes. Squidoo ranks you higher in their system if you use their Amazon links. Since Squidoo refers thousands of products from Amazon, you get 8.5/2 = 4.25%. Your own Amazon referral rate is based on your performance. If you refer less than 7 people, you get 4%. But if you refer more than 7, you get 6%. So it really depends on you. http://is.gd/cYRI

Thanks Lisa & Art for the replies. Yes I knew about the breakdown of commissions. I am mainly building lenses as doors into my own network of sites, which I already have running, so I'm more interested in getting the traffic from Squidoo and increasing the size of my list than just sales. I think I'll use the Squidoo modules because it's quicker to set up and looks better. I'll most likely have any earnings set to 100% charity anyway going to Kiva.
- Rob Cooke
Hi Rob - I've used both now and the Squidoo modules definitely work better for both sales and ranking but more importantly for traffic. Also found the traffic was good (it returned to the sites and the other lenses I put up.
- Kim Baillie
Thanks Kim. This is perfect information. Just the kind of thing to make me certain which to choose!

For more information about Amazon Modules vs. your own affiliate links, go to http://squidoo.com/amazon-... - it also has a tool that will create lens-compatible code for any product you want to feature.

30DC+ is delivered via PremiumCast. It is amazing. It allows you to deliver content via web, podcast, print (to Amazon and Borders), and disk (via Kunaki). But, for the life of me, I cannot get it to work. Anyone know of good tutorials or available to consult/troubleshoot for an hour?
Ron, I do not know the answer, but what version of PremiumCast are you using?
- Frank Dobner
Ron. do you mean you are using to provide a premium podcast service? I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but I intend to start a premium service of my current podcast http://www.weeklysongcast.com

'TO Ed Dale, Bob, Dan, Caro and the 30DC Team' . . . Everybody here, 'Like' this comment if you appreciate the team and everything they are doing for us. 30DC Team, YOU ROCK! and we are your loyal followers. We all Thank You, for everything.
I have to second what Jamie has stated! Ed, Dan, Bob, Caro, Nez and all the members of the 30DC Challenge team who have brought this together as well as the Marketing Samurai Guys and WordPress Direct Crew, what you have given in the way of your time, knowledge and own expense has been to quote a phrase, "Totally Awesome!" Thankyou so much for giving a me (us) such a wonderful opportunity in learning so much for so little! You All Rock! No word to describe except Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou THANKYOU
- Tim
Agreed, its hard to ignore the negative, sadly the usually shout (complain) the loudest. You're all doing a sterling job, thank you sincerely.

I am constantly amazed at the selflessness and generosity shown by the 30DC Crew. I've learned a tremendous amount that will help me with my business going forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- Roxanne Ravenel
I cant agree more with all of you. The 30DC and the whole team are awesome. Too bad there will always be that small portion who must spoil everything they touch and those for whom even breathing is too much of an effort. Don't let them worry you. Please keep up the good work.
- Frans
Thanks to everyone who has come together to provide us with such complete, thorough and ridiculously awesome training...I have learned more from this challenge than I ever would have had I continued to try to market on my own. You guys rock. Thank you on behalf of myself and every other participant in this challenge.

I must agree the 30 day challenge is incredible and so are the people partaking. Every one is extremely helpful.

Message for Ed, Dan, GuruBob, Caro & the rest of 30dc team. Just watched the TV show and needed to post a comment. I had no clue about setting anything up before I started 30dc. Within a VERY short space of time I'm 3rd in google on broad match against 25 million competing pages.
Cont'd....I couldn't have done any of this without your guys help & support. Funnily enough I may have to ditch this niche because the traffic isn't stacking up, but hey that's what testing is all about! I know I can find and test another niche now in a matter of days as well as doing my full time job. Alot of us in 30dc totally appreciate your time and support so please know that we appreciate everything you're doing. To take your final analogy, I love eating free chocolate. Keep up the fantastic work. Many thanks, Jon.

MarketingCharts.com: I think this site is way cool, for getting any type of info you would be interested in. I love this, really, and yeah, it's completely FREE :D - http://www.marketingcharts.com/
Particularly useful to anyone that can't run Internet Explorer, like me, because it is unique in the way it displays things (and every version is unique in its own unique way).

There are other services for pinging generic blogs (like http://pingomatic.com), but this one is specifically optimised for Squidoo lenses.
- thefluffanutta
Just to add it may not be a bad idea to ping a lens where you comment too.

Anyone that grew up in the 60's or 70's (baby boomers) can tell that Phil Mason got his inspiration from 70's rock bands like Zeppelin and Purple etc... http://is.gd/1bRL this song rocks man. Great work Phil.
Only an Englishman can rock like this. British rock rules. Coming from an Aussie that is.
- Greg Martin
I was worried about losing the old song... but he definitely raised the bar this time. I think it's great. I have no idea what he'll come up with next year!!
- Frann Leach
how appropriate it is to find this video as i see on the final credits that the lyrics of the songtrack are adapted from Tagore's "Stream of Life" - Tagore being one of my all time favorites.
- Joshua Slocum
Only $100,000 ;-) perhaps a possible future purchase when you make it big on the Internet? (Powered by a conventional engine, and has a built in parachute - just in case!)
- Mark McGimpsey
Yes, Bill. I've seen the Rocket Man vids. It's quite a feat to fly that one.
- Mark McGimpsey
If I remember correctly the Rocket Man Jet Pack has a flight window of 30 seconds and then 'phut'. I've also seen the Jet Man vids. I imagine you would need to be an expert Skydiver for that kit. Personally I don't ever wish to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft ;-)

When you come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly. --- Sorry to hear of Randy's passing --

Cant add anything, i too am a tigger

What an awesome person! Watch full lecture here http://www.youtube.com/watch... and then read his book. The Last Lecture does make you think of what we do here on this planet.
- Gideon Fouché
Fantastic! Are these girls 30DCers who have you just adopted their song for your team? Very talented
- Lisa
No, they are not 30DCers. I discovered Kina Grannis through YouTube long before she won the Dorito's Superbowl Halftime Video contest, so I have a special affinity for her music. This song was perfect for our present purposes, and I thought I might tap it for some inspiration. *Those are Kina's younger sister's in the background. If you get the chance, check out the rest of her videos esp. the original "Message From Your Heart" (my fave).
- Sam Sotiropoulos
Have had this in my Youtube faves for months! I'm glad she won that contest, i voted for her, but i couldnt remember where to go to check the results. Thanks for that Sam.
- Frann Leach
Frann, as I watched the Superbowl halftime show and they introduced her video I actually cried out of happiness for her... Just a fantastically talented young lady with both looks and smarts, she damn well deserved it! And you are most welcome! :)
- Sam Sotiropoulos
FYI: The young ladies (Kina Grannis and her sisters) are not part of the 30DC, this is just a video I found on Youtube last year, quite by accident, and I thought I might share it with the 30DC.
- Sam Sotiropoulos
Excellent! I enjoy the video as well as the song very much
- Raymond
I totally agree. Pre-season lessons have doubled my site traffic and quadrupled my profits. Favorite tools: Flock, Google Reader, YouTube, Digg, StumbleUpon, friendfeed, Skitch, Conduit Toolbars, and of course my MacBook Pro :)
- 3rdincome
Thanks to Mindy, Nez, Barb et al who led me to watch Joss Whedon's online project Dr Horrible. What is really interesting is how viral this has become, not just because of Joss Whedon's credentials but because they utulised the power of Twitter, Facebook and more. A good lesson (plus an excellent film)
- Lisa
says videos are down or can't watch on site..saw that the other day as well..humm
- Eric Gehler
It was so successful, they were forced to move to a bigger server. Yet it failed to become 'popular' on Digg: http://talhost.net/digg-sh... <-- Conspiracy?
- thefluffanutta
I've seen this - it's absolutely brilliant! I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon & this doesn't disapoint!
- Nikki
I'm now going to check this out - I loved his buffy musical
- Ed Dale
Make sure you watch this before midnight on Sunday, the videos come down then.
- Andrew Nesbitt
Totally and utterly brilliant. And yes, the Musical Buffy episode is one of my favorites, although I find it extremely sad - then again, so is this. I love this, sympathy for the devil kind of viewpoint, as well. Great stuff. And i would have PAID for this, not something i generally do, if i could get itunes for linux... It doesn't seem to want to sell it unless you have itunes which is a shame.
- Frann Leach
Laughed so much...my face hurt...brilliant!
- Karen Kramer
I REALLY enjoyed this post. Thank you Lisa. Dr Horrible is NICE :)
