"Which is your favorite blogging platform - WordPress or Blogger? A majority of bloggers answer that they started with Google's Blogger but have shifted to WordPress now. Well, that doesn't prove WordPress is a better blogging platform than Blogger. Invariably, the choice depends upon your requirements. Before you choose any of these two blogging platform, it's most important for you to delve into the key areas of blogger and WordPress and see which of the two is ideal for that purpose. As for us we see Wordpress take over Blogger in several features that reciprocates a bloggers needs. This is what compled us to provide 10 reasons to dumpBlogger for Wordpress."

Stephen, as a WP devotee, can you answer my WP question? I recently converted my blog from wp.com to wp.org. Should I now DELETE the old [duplicate] posts from wp.com? Should I even keep the wp.com blog/account?
- Shari Weiss
Shari, I assume you mean you've moved from a WP-hosted blog to your own hosted solution. Maybe the simplest solution is to put a notice on your old wp.com blog stating that the blog has moved to <new address., and the wp.com blog will no longer be updated. You could give some time for people to note the change (say 6 months) then delete your old account. I assume you will have exported all your old blogs to your new wp.org account so no need to keep duplicates. Hope this helps.

I'll stick with Blogger. It's easy to use and you can have advertising. WP.com you can't and to my way of thinking both are free why not use the platform that can make you a bit of money. If you like spending money on a platform then yes goes with WP but, I don't like spending money.

I've never used Blogger, always WP but from a reader's perspective, leaving a comment on Blogger is a multi-step pain in the a--, plus, there is no option to follow comments so you never know if anyone responded to the comment you worked so hard to leave! It's much easier to have an actual conversation on a WP blog via comments.

just one reason beat all the 10 reasons -- Blogger/Google has so many DNS IP address, that can be used to prevent Internet-blocking in certain countries (like China, where BOTH WP and BLOGGER have been blocked , but you can use certain IP address to your domain name's DNS to bypass that)

Interesting perspective on the DNS IP addresses that can be blocked. I've learnt something new!
- Stephen Dale
no, They just blocked blogger.com and blogspot.com , but still you can use your domain name + Google DNS IPs (ghs.google.com) to bypass... you can visit wikipedia -- GFW-"the great firewall"

Could you use Dynamic DNS IP (dyndns) to bypass such restrictions?
- TrafficBug
yeah I think so... but...it's just a matter of time --- someday, sth. would make you been blocked...actually ,the top 10 BSP in the world are nearly all blocked in Mainland China

Stephen and Cindi, THX for the responses. I ended up DELETING the old posts because people were coming to the OLD blog and I didn't want them, too. BUT it was a HUGE job to change All the links!! NEW QUESTION: How do I generate WP Pages with a different theme than the Blog Posts? The WP Docs are too confusing. THX
- Shari Weiss
Shari - I'm not a WP expert, but sounds to me like you would need to delve in to the style sheets (CSS). If anyone else listening, can they offer advice to Shari?
- Stephen Dale
THX, Stephen, if I get an answer, I'll let you know :-)

How about Joomla and Expressionengine etc?
- TrafficBug
Expression Engine! They have a free version to use too - but its well worth the $250 to get the full version. You will love the template system in EE. It makes building websites much easier. If you plan to modify the way your site looks you should definitely look at EE. http://www.expressionengine.com/
