Show all
Here is the latest Commodore 64 original hardware laptop, “Revision 2″. Thanks to the generosity of the person requesting this build, this particular unit will be up for auction with proceeds benefiting charity. The current plan is to have a “silent auction” where people send us their bids, and then the proceeds go to Child’s Play. We will start this auction on Monday July 6th after the holiday week. Bids should start at $1000 US. - Tim Hoeck via Bookmarklet

Ah... what about addons? That's the last thing I need! - Tim Hoeck via Bookmarklet
Tim: the add-on collector does a decent job of synchronizing other addons https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US... - Mike Chelen
You can have only 5 Firefox extensions. Which are they?
LastPass, FireGestures, Diigo Toolbar, Gmail Manager, TabMix Plus - Tim Hoeck
Greasemonkey, firebug, web developer toolbar, colorzilla, image zoom, delicious - Brian Daniel Eisenberg via iPhone
Tiny Menu, Xmarks, Greasemonkey, Firebug, Stylish - Ken Sheppardson
firebug, greasemonkey, web developer toolbar, session manager, delicious. much harder to pick than I thought. - chrisofspades
xmarks, web developer, download status bar, google gears, adblock - Rodfather

Should FF have threaded comments? It's starting to get out of hand to try and reply to a specific comment.
If it was easy to do right we'd have it already. - Alex Scoble
or is it just that indenting gets out of hand after awhile? - Laura Norvig
What Laura said. - Christopher Harley
What if a mouse over the comment highlighted the comment it was in reply to? - invariant
One of many previous discussions on flat vs multi-level threading http://friendfeed.com/acitran... - Micah Wittman
yeah, it would be tough to do, I always hated trying to follow large threads in forums... there has to be a better way. With posts now getting 300-400 comments, we need a better way to manage/peruse them. @Micah .. glad to see that Bret Taylor liked that thread... wonder if they have anything in the works? - Tim Hoeck
Tim, interesting observation. Lots of roll-outs happening. Maybe something will be in the next wave of features. - Micah Wittman
I am definitely up for that. Currently it is very hard to track the conversation, if someone mentions your name or responds to your comment. Threaded comments would make it much easier. - Marko Saric
invariant has a great idea. But only one level down, so we keep the flat comments. - Roberto Bonini
I would like a 'reply' feature. From a dropdown on the comment icon we could select to 'reply' - whether this indents the comment or not I'm not sure but these 'replies' could then be displayed on a separate page like 'My Replies'. - Kol Tregaskes
If comments were indented it should only be to 1 or 2 depth. I really wouldn't like to see the messy reddit-style on FF. - Kol Tregaskes
I would still just like the ability to 'like' a certain comment - Kim
I think threaded comments are messy. I see them on http://www.athleticsnation.com, a sports site I frequent, and it would be crazy here. - Louis Gray
Suddenly I am realizing that realtime is cool, and can't wait for Google Wave.

My realtime is broke in FF3.5 for some reason.
Thanks LPH! Fabulous Idea..

Tim, do you know if you've any competition working on something similar? - Christopher Carr
the only other FF app I have seen is Mother Feed.. most are too happy with it, and I haven't seen them update it recently. - Tim Hoeck
Yeah, it sucks. OK, quit screwing around on FF and get back to work. ;-) - Christopher Carr
add functionality like the url shortener app, like share from browser to friendfeed with tinyurl/cli.gs/bit.ly etc, so when we are browsing online we can easily share things :) - Kyle Weller
I'm definitely down for beta testing when you finally get to that stage. - Jonathan Hardesty
Add me to the beta tester list! - Trent Olson
me too please! - Edward Zwart
I would love to try this out when you release it in a beta test! :) - Patrik Johansson
Why am I not beta testing this yet dammit?! - Matthew DeVries
There are Alert Thingy and Buddy Feed iPhone Apps. Buts looks great :) - Roberto Bonini

Can't wait for it to go mainstream. Looks great. - Russ Jackson
This is looking pretty cool so far! - Jonathan Hardesty
Looks like an interesting solution (though YA polling app - oh my little 1150 battery is whimpering already!) - Eric Sinclair
I can't wait for it. The FF mobile site is not longer appropriate for Android users. It now says "...from iPhone" if you use it... so I hope for this app. Does it say "...from Android" when you post from this? Would be great to finally have an oppose way to show your support for Android. - Ryo
it says, from AndFeed. :) And, it is getting there, I'll be asking for some beta testers soon. - Tim Hoeck via AndFeed
First! - Matthew DeVries
second! - Ryo
third! - Tim Hoeck via AndFeed
PS: if you want to help to make the mobile Friendfeed site stop saying "...from iphone" if you post from an Android, please chime in here: http://friendfeed.com/friendf... / Android user support needed in this thread. - Ryo
This makes me want to get an android powered phone. - Morgan Collins
Ryo - is that really the thread you want us to say "Stop saying I'm on an iphone" in? - Matthew DeVries
Yes, Matthew.. he is talking about Android people using the ffmobile site. - Tim Hoeck
Something is weird, I keep being sent to a thread about an automated "unsubscribe to those not subscribed to me" thread. Damn internet - Matthew DeVries
Matthew... sooory. it was the wrong link :) I've corrected it: http://friendfeed.com/friendf... - Ryo
Oh, from seeing that extensive use of pics and thinkin g about my 18000+ subscriptions, pleeeease do the caching on the sdcard and not in the phone memory. Just a thought. - Ryo
The more I see of this the better it gets! One question, pic 4 of this set of pics - are we only going to get one line to write our responses in? It'll kind of make proof reading difficult... And hows the auto-rotate function for Landscape mode (for G1 users who are using the keyboard)? As I've seen a couple of programmes on the Market that have great portrait screens but forgot to make... more... - Ethan Kristopher-Hartley
Hey Tim, I spent some time messing around with Andfeed. It looks great by the way. It force closed on me about 15 minutes in or so, won't open since. Wondering if anyone else experienced this issue? - Miguel Wickert- Pineiro
Miguel.. I have some fixes coming soon that will probably fix that. In the meantime, you could try clearing the cache folder on your sdcard and restarting... it is located in /sdcard/cache/andfeed/* - Tim Hoeck
How does one get in on the AndFeed testing? - Rishabh Mishra (p248)
^ What p248 said. WANT. Is it listed in the Android Market Tim? - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Hit up the room: http://friendfeed.com/andfeed - it is buggy atm, and I will probably change the way things work, but feel free to give your feedback! - Tim Hoeck
Can't wait to see realtime activity when FFundercats is on ;)
Isn't FF already realtime, even when FFundercats is on? - Josh Haley
Real-time search for the moment of win phrase will be cool. - Bruce Lewis
Anyone with a Sony eReader have suggestions on how to possibly fix this?

Tim - will it share sites via the menu>more>share tabs in the Android browser? - Matthew DeVries
Matthew.. I'm working on that part :P Lots of stuff to get in here.. - Tim Hoeck via AndFeed
This looks great! I'm really interested to see where it's heading. If it's more stable than MotherFeed and doesn't double post then I'd be prepared to pay for it! - Ethan Kristopher-Hartley
I'm very curious to see how this turns out. It's looking great so far, just based off of what I'm seeing in the pics. - Jonathan Hardesty
I'd be interested in beta testing also. Would be interesting to see intents published from andfeed to other apps, as others have stated. E.G. it would be obvious to have the 'share in..' itent (ala Beelicious/Email/SMS). - Eric Sinclair
Eric, if you have thoughts on what should be provided, let me know. - Tim Hoeck
A thought from the pictures, I might prefer having the bottom icons appear when pressing menu rather than always using screen real estate. Looking forward to a beta/release/whatever. - DMKrow

Transformers breaks $200 million in North America | Entertainment | Reuters
The "Transformers" sequel was well on its way to becoming the biggest hit of the year so far at the North American box office, but narrowly missed the five-day opening record set last year by "The Dark Knight." "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," a follow-up to the smash robot hit of 2007, earned an estimated $201.2 million during the five-day period since it blasted into theaters on Wednesday, distributor Paramount Pictures said on Sunday. The Batman sequel -- the second-biggest film of all time before adjusting for inflation -- holds the five-day record with $203.8 million. - Tim Hoeck via Bookmarklet

Want your child to grow up a powerful warrior with a mountain range for a head? Then you're in luck, thanks to this traditional Klingon blade inspired crib! You just place your little tyke in there, occasionally throw a lion in the room for him/her to battle, and six years later, PRESTO, you're arrested for child neglect. Also, you have a pack of hungry lions living in your nursery. Hit the jump to see a rocking horse and baby rattle of the same style. - Tim Hoeck via Bookmarklet

Flickr Blog: Nearby on Your Phone
We’ve always liked the idea of showing you photos taken in a particular place; for example, here are some photos taken at or near the Flickr 5.25 party. Today we’re bringing that ability to the smartphone mobile site. For those devices that support it (currently Android and the iPhone with the new 3.0 software), the Mobile Nearby page will figure out where you are in the world and show you photos that have been taken in the same area. - Tim Hoeck via Bookmarklet
