I wasn't impatient for such things but then I wandered down the holiday aisle at Walgreens. Now I am ready to break out the nutcrackers and snowmen!
- aden (yeah you heard me)
You guys always have the best Christmas lights!
- Matthew DeVries
The girl says she's tired of chicken. Guess what? I'm tired of being held hostage by little people's weird food cravings. TIRED OF CHICKEN?
- Ha3rvey (not Akiva)
Do you guys seriously make an entire meal out of wings? I enjoy them as an appetizer or a side dish, but I don't think I've ever made my entire meal consisting of just wings. Interesting idea, though.
- Curtiss Grymala
Curtiss I have multiple times a dozen wings is a meal.
- Jimminy
my sister would eat pizza every other night but me give me those wings
- VAL D.
And here I thought I was the only one who thought that all but the very ending of that sketch was hilarious. I still use a lot of the dialogue around the house.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Is it a remake? I thought the original was an adaptation and the new one stuck more to the actual book... I am prepared to be wrong
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
I'm going to call it a Wonka from now on.
- Jimminy
It's truly apalling. It's like watching someone drive towards a cliff; you can see it coming but you can't stop it.
- Glen Campbell, B.A.
from iPhone
Worthington is right - The Johnny Depp version is much more book-like, and a much easier watch. The Gene Wilder version made my various sphinters pucker with terrible discomfort from beginning to end. The music is better in the Depp version, and none of the ever creepy-little people exploitation.
- Matthew DeVries
Mr. DeVries: "my various sphincters pucker" How many sphincters do you have?
- T. Brent, technopeasant
Well, since I've not had any organs removed, and am for the most part an intact human, at least 42. * The sphincter pupillae, or pupillary sphincter, belonging to the iris in the eye. * The orbicularis oculi muscle, a muscle around the eye. * The orbicularis oris muscle, a muscle around the mouth. * The upper esophageal sphincter * The cardia/lower esophageal sphincter, or cardiac...

srsly. this is like a paradigm shift... here, i've gone around thinking I had only one. instead, i have a plethora of sphincters.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
I was a bit clenched before I perused this thread. Much better now :)
- Micah Wittman
Jefe: I have put many beautiful sphincters in the storeroom, each of them filled with little suprises. / El Guapo: Many sphincters? / Jefe: Oh yes, many! / El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of sphincters? / Jefe: A what? / El Guapo: A *plethora*. / Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora. / El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? / Jefe: Why, El Guapo? / El Guapo: Well, you told me I have...

Since T. Brent was mystified, maybe I should explain. In the movie "Three Amigos," there's a wonderful exchange about the word "plethora." (http://www.imdb.com/title...). T. Brent's quote of "plethora of sphincters" reminded me of that scene, so I wanted to see how it would read if the word "pinata" was replaced by "sphincter."
- Stephen Mack
i have since reviewed the exchange in question, via youtube, and feel this new version is both very fucking funny, and an improvement on the original.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
Take! These broken wings! And learn to fly again!
- Akiva Moskovitz
PS - The Burton version is not a remake of the original film. It's a new adaptation of the book. I like both versions on their own merits. Gene Wilder is the far superior Wonka. That will be all.

Ok, I've decided that I am indeed going to reactivate my account. I have too much free time until January. Which one should j transfer? 74 Druid (tanking and deeps gear, can tree), epicced DK, or pvp epicced warlock? Which is most beneficial to DYSP? I enjoy all of them
I'm haven't been active in 2 months but from what I can remember there were quite a few druids and hunters, I don't know what the list of actives look likes now though.
- Jimminy
I would say either the druid or the lock. Right now we're on that cusp of either not having enough DPS or not having enough tanks/healers. So the druid would be my suggestion, although the lock is viable as well. What's your DPS on each? Armory link if possible.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
It's total crap compared to the books, but it's still decently watchable. :D Far more palatable to me than Twilight, that's for sure. (I watch the eps while running around on my hunter. :D)
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I'm worried I may be cracking. Or playing way too much WoW. I have a song in my head that I can't get rid of. It's a mash-up of Radiohead's "How to Disappear Completely" and the music that plays when you're at WoW's login screen.
Happy Anniversary Anne - you are a saint, and the love of my life. Thank you for 31 great years, 4 exceptional children, and too many great memories to count. Here's best wishes to us for our next 31 years. Amazing how little we've aged from the photo :-)

Happy anniversary Anne:) Best wishes to both of you and your husband:))

Happy Anniversary!!! That photo is so so cute!!! I love it!!! Congratulations!
- Rachel Lea Fox
and just because I have to....nice tie dude...loving the rosey cheeks too.... how many shots of Jaeger went down the hatch before the shot was taken? but kidding aside, good job you guys. many more years of happiness and love for you both...and maybe even a couple of years of those things with each other....hee hee
- Morgan Haley
Morgan, it was a cravat! It could have been worse; remember, it was the '70s! As for the rosy cheeks, you'd have to ask Jack...
- Anne Bouey
Happy Anniversary! 31 years is something to be proud of :)
- joey
Happy Anniversary! Jack is hawt in that pic - reminds me of several heartthrobs of the era, but of course the only name that's coming to mind is John Davidson, and he's much better-looking than that.

"[Dollhouse] became just a scoach too whore-y. Never had a better meeting, everything was great, then they [FOX] said "so they're kinda like prostitutes and that's not ok" Word came down that it wasn't ok. I wanted to make a show that's about feeling bad about feeling good or good about feeling bad. Fantasy is just that, fantasy. FOX wanted to back away from these implications. Every episode [of the first season] is ridiculously hard, because the central core has been ripped out just enough, that we're constantly dancing around our own premise."

In this case I believe he was kind of tied to fox because Eliza Dushku was still contracted to them, and as he wrote the show for her it was the place to be.
- Joe Pierce
I think that's part of it. Look at it this way: you're Joss Whedon. You want to make cool stuff, but you keep getting screwed due to low ratings/bad timeslots/shitty studio execs. So, in order to make what you want (like, fer instance, DR. HORRIBLE), you take the money and the grief that accompanies a show on Fox. Because now you have a bit of breathing room, a few more contacts, and a bit more experience and cash to make what you want.
- Steven Perez
I'm sure that is a big part of it. Though I would be shocked if Whedon or Minear worked for Fox again anytime soon. (which is almost exactly the same thing I said right after Drive got the axe).
- Joe Pierce
God why can't Whedon find someone other than Fox to hitch his wagon to? He would be so much better on a premium cable net.
- Eric @ CS Techcast
I really wish he'd go to a cable net after this. How many times does Fox have to screw him before they both decide to call it a day with each other? But really, as much as we love them, his shows are niche shows, and the broadcast nets are always going to expect a mainstream audience for them. It's a fundamental problem, because Fox is the most edgy of the broadcast nets, honestly.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
I think the premise for Dollhouse had a lot of room for thematic growth and exploration. From a writer's point of view, exploring the issues in the dollhouse'verse would have been quite a fun task.
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
I really do hope AMC or HBO would hire Whedon. Letting Whedon be Whedon would unleash the awesome.

In a couple weeks it will be fourteen years since cancer came out of nowhere and claimed her, so I tend to get a bit nostalgic around this time of the year. I like to remember the good times, rather than focus on the negative. But seriously, the chick was funny.

It's nice when you can remember a loved one with laughter and joy.

even in those few words I feel like I have an idea of who she is, I can't imagine a better way to remember her
- Sir Shuping
An example: I'd just started driving in high school and got the opportunity to pick her up from somewhere. It was a warm day and she got in the car, turned the A/C from it's middle setting and cranked to the highest. She took the hem of her dress and placed it over the A/C vents so that the air puffed out the bottom of her dress. All without looking at me or saying a word. She finally...

I'm taking this opportunity to add all the really embarrassing stuff to my Wish List without anyone on FF knowing...
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Greg, I thought about that but I'd like it all from one place so if it gets fixed I don't want to re-add it. I'd just like to know if there is a plan to fix it or if I should give up.

Sigh. I would just like to know if it will ever get fixed or not.

Just as long as you don't tell him you're gonna throw him to the carpet I'm okay. WILL NOT BE JEALOUS. I WILL NOT! DAMN IT, DERRICK! YOU LIKE HIM MORE THAN ME!

Love: Finished writing a short story - a little shorter than I'd like, but it leads in to a story I wrote some years ago. Hate: The story it leads into now needs a complete rewrite to make the lead-in story work properly. :-)
It gets better - now I've started rewriting the second story, it solves a whole bunch of problems in two other related stories. I had hit blocks in both those stories, and have been unable to work on them for a year or more. Now, once I've finished this rewrite, I can get on with finishing those other two. Hurrah.

The ad nauseam part I get, but I have to admit I have a learned a couple things from some explanations. I think the overuse of the explanations can detract from the flow of the story, though.
