This was a big winner--we had previously tasted it at the Russell House Tavern and made it this weekend. But there's no substituting for the Cardamaro. We originally made it with Cynar (another artichoke based digestif) and there's no comparison.

Amazing blog that collects writing about ECM Records. Like, every single ECM recording.

Thanks so much for the shout-out, Tim. My reviewing activities on "between sound and space" are a labor of love for the label I love. Hoping to reach synchronicity with ECM's release schedule by next year.

An oldie but a goodie. Great idea to trust our democracy to insecure machines that can be flashed into arcade devices without breaking the "tamper proof seals."

Leaked video from Romney fundraiser: Half of US voters expect free “health care, food, housing, you name it” (updated) - Boing Boing - http://boingboing.net/2012...
The alarming things for me in this are (1) Romney apparently declaring war on Americans who are too poor or too struggling to take care of their elderly relatives to qualify to pay income tax, and (2) the fact that 47% of the voter pool falls into this category.

"Tempos clicked organically, and he gathered the voices of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus into potent clouds of dissonance. The impression was less of a conductor showing off his technique than drawing out a collaborative performance that opened up a clear window on the score itself."

Fuse Concert Review: Tanglewood’s 75th Birthday Shindig — Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Festival Chorus and Guests » The Arts Fuse - http://artsfuse.org/65064...
"His reading of Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms,” with typically superb work from John Oliver’s Tanglewood Festival Chorus, was taut and expressive in its first two movements. But Mr. Nelsons eased into the hypnotic strains of the final hymn of praise with utmost delicacy and refinement."
