"This matters. Sell what is rare. Sell what not everyone can have. Many things in the digital economy are widely distributed and inexpensive, especially digital music. I sure hope this does well. It goes straight to the heart of how the mmusic economy has to change."

"Hey Troy, Couldn’t disagree more about Google City Tours being useful. It’s not. And I can’t see any way a computer algorithm can make a relevant map. And that’s because nothing beats: 1. on the ground knowledge of what’s really worth seeing 2. knowing something about the person doing the looking Granted its just a lab product, but I can’t see how Google could get valuable things to see and do on the map. Too many places in the world and too many types of travelers. My brief tour of the tool showed serious shortcomings, but highlighted big opportunities for DMO’s and travel assocations who choose to use Google’s My Maps to make their own regional attraction maps."

"Hi Josiah, Thank you for your comments. Fortunately / Unfortunately, Google uses computer algorithms to do the work of helping with tour routes on the City Tour Maps. They won’t have the people power necessary to create relevant maps for each community in the world. I believe it’s going to be up to DMO’s. CVB’s and other regional groups to use Google services to create maps that are actually useful to travelers."

"Hi Dave. Not a race to the bottom. These apps are adding functionality that is adding significant value to twitter conversations. And each improvement at this early stage of the game is significant. In terms of functionality, I think we’re almost there, but not quite as each platform has its pros and cons. I used both Tweetdeck and Twhirl when Seesmic added integrated video commenting from Seesmic - a service I had requested! I moved to Seesmic Desktop when unlimited columns were introduced including search terms (nothing like it for Tweetdeck). The continual updating of these search columns are very powerful tools which clearly outperforms the use of limited Groups lists on Tweetdeck. Another differentiator is that Tweetdeck has the Favorites column while Seesmic doesn’t. (I miss my Favourites from Tweetdeck.) Nevertheless, as these two applications continue to evolve and move into the iPhone and handeld realm we will begin to see stronger allegiances among users, and each app will..."

"@toddlucier said... (Jun 8, 2009 9:22:20 AM) Thanks Andy. This short post should be included in any event planner manual. Poor panel management makes MOST conference settings unexciting and indeed BORING. Appreciate your short notes..... keeping panelist opening remarks brief is what makes a panel rock. The moderator needs to know they are meeting the needs of the audience. Clear thinking."

"It’s good to hear you are finding time to dip into Social Media, despite it not being in your job description. Perhaps the thinking in this post will help shape future job descriptions. Looks like Lancashire is a great family spot…. Keep thinking about content that meets the needs of your ideal customer! Use Social Media that matters to moms! cheers."
