the gist: sme independent bookstore owners are content to blame customers for their demise, when many might have survived if they had tried to find out what their customers wanted from the bookstore experience and had adapted to provide it. Provocative stuff, and it adds another dimension to the discussions about the many reasons that independent bookstores struggle to survive. - Todd Mundt
I lived in Louisville when Barnes and Noble came in. It couldn't hold a candle to Holley Cooke (sp?), which had been a great independent bookstore for years. The selection was wider, the service better and more knowledgeable. But last time I visited, HC had become Borders. Can't imagine it was because the customers demanded it. - Tom Landini
You've Got Mail all over again - Mark Forman
There is some truth to this post, but only some. Independent bookstores run on paper thin margins, more so now that online venues can offer prices AND convenience. Turning them into destinations can be expensive and could simply put some under too much debt. One of the secondary players (Abe, Alibris, Biblio) should unite indies and do gift cards and buy online, pick up at the store programs. - AJ Kohn

It might seem odd that links so far down a page would be clicked on at such a high rate - but the reason is logical. These points on the page are ‘pause points’. They are parts of a page where readers pause and make a decision on what to do next. - Todd Mundt

Is this the best Thai restaurant in the country? I have no idea, and am in no way qualified to answer that. Will I go back? In a heartbeat. Lotus of Siam 953 E Sahara Ave, Las Vegas 702.735.3033 - Todd Mundt

The tutorial on the website gives a simple example of how to cache a few files using the Resource Store. It makes it very easy to setup a JSON manifest file that contains which pages you want to have cached. Here is an example manifest. - Todd Mundt
