"We are consuming from Gnip on MyBlogLog. The service is working amazingly well at providing near-real-time information for tens-of-thousands of our users across a number of services. I know that this is is no guarantee that Gnip can solve all of Twitter's issues. At the end of the day, if Twitter actually cared about letting more 3rd party developers integrate with their service, what (non-business) reason could they have for not giving Gnip a chance. You can't tell me that Zappos, while very cool, is more important to than the rest of the web." - Todd Sampson

"I think that you nailed it Dave. All of the XMPP developers I know aren't buying Twitter's latest argument. I really like the Twitter team -- especially their investors -- but their lack of Gnip integration is a clear indication that this is a business decision, not a technical one. Gnip can solve Twitter's scale issues for developers if that is what they are really interested in doing. However, if it really is that hard to scale XMPP, give Gnip the Zappos XMPP feed. Gnip can fix the *fire hose* issue for Zappos along with every other developer on the planet -- not to mention allowing Twitter to have more "Minor Periods Of Uptime."" - Todd Sampson

"I hadn't seen SeattleMash... very cool Rob. You guys continue to rock it. (And, of course, I love the MyBlogLog mashup.) Keep up the great work. I really can't wait for Twitter to finally get oAuth integrated back into the product -- not to mention integration with Gnip -- so we can automate & improve things like this." - Todd Sampson

"Thanks Joe! Man, that's so much easier. :) I just assumed Summize would only do text filtering. I will probably still use the pipe for the routing to my phone -- unless you have a recommendation on something that does that more efficiently. Or, better yet, push them back to a separate twitter account (like "toddsampson-track") that I am following with device updates on." - Todd Sampson
