Notice that no one has yet shared their favorite porn site. Yet if we were talking about Android Pirillo would have 20 sites to go to.
- Robert Scoble
Johni: I read on TechCrunch that Bing.com is a good place to find good porn. But I wouldn't know about such things cause we're not allowed to discuss such things online.
- Robert Scoble
Freudbox.com is the shit. I am not ashamed:)
- Shawn Hickman
I will share here the best site I know ... let me get it
- Johni Fisher
If you don't know about porn all you have to do is askjolene.com
- Dale
Jim: u will sure do :-)) Robert: it look like that I will be the only one that will share a link :-) http://livesex.com/sextv if you sign up (no spam) you can get all in HD prof. videos http://livesex.com/
- Johni Fisher
Warren Ellis was talking about it the other day http://www.warrenellis.com/... Filament, a magazine of porn/erotica for women that are having trouble getting small printers who "won’t print images of the male of the species in a state of obvious arousal"
- Rachel Clarke
This is what I like about FF. I could have spent hours trying to find good quality (pr0n) links... but here, in like a few minutes we have some quality links already. :D
- Sunny Saxena
That would explain your following Violet Blue on Twitter. :)
- Louis Gray
Porn seems (edit)like a process to access with guys. No one just pokes around RedTube? o.o
- Heather
Robert: I think the reason that porn(social expectable to most in this age) isn't more fluently spoken about on the web outside of 1:1 conversation is that now it's easy to track what some has said. If porn(links, images, etc) exist on your social profiles, its possible your family, prudish friends, or in a background check for a job could uncover it. It's possible it could hurt you and...

- Jimminy Fuller
Holden, I don't know how many times I've gone to http://www.twatter.com/ and think someone should put a porn site there, sadly it's just a place holder selling adds, no content that I've seen.
- Jimminy Fuller
Louis: I follow Violet Blue because we spoke at a Fortune Magazine conference together. Oh, and we violated a Mac display at Macworld together. But that wasn't really about porn. Or was it?
- Robert Scoble
Errr... We gave discussed this already in the gentlemen's room. Months ago.
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
Woah, well apparently that's been added in the last 2 months. I don't think I've typed twitter into my browser for about that long.
- Jimminy Fuller
Cracking up, Louis. Well, Robert did say that who he follows should tell the world something about what he's interested in, so there ya' go.
- Kathy Fitch
Kathy: and also that I follow people who I've met face-to-face and I've definitely met Violet Blue face to face.
- Robert Scoble
Oh, wait--there, too! Okay, now I'm in tears laughing.
- Kathy Fitch
Robert : you cant follow me on Twitter as I dont let my contents to the once I hvnt met in person :-)
- Johni Fisher
The hardest part about talking about porn is that once you share a few links... everyone leaves the conversation. Can't figure that one out.
- Louis Gray
Louis: they will be back in a few minutes.
- Robert Scoble
I've noticed the lack of porn discussion here too. I'll say that I don't know the majority of people on FF very well so I wouldn't feel *right* talking about it here.
- EricaJoy
Yeah, it's weird. Every flavor of sexuality is right at our fingertips in virtually clinical detail, but humans still have a hard (uh, *difficult*) time talking about sex. Slippery (er, *elusive*) subject.
- Kathy Fitch
The fear of talking about porn sometimes prevents some learning about some good tech practices as porn site techies have done some serious tech work on ddos, payment systems and other security work.
- Andrew Leyden
from iPhone
Interesting to see that Andrew was the first one to bring up the business side of porn. I've worked for companies that stood to make a significant amount of revenue if we accepted business from pornography purveyors. Unfortunately for our top line, we let the "morals" of top leadership prevent us from making a good business decision. Once we get over the stigma of our sexuality and allow it to become a topic of everyday conversation, businesses that go about it smartly will make lots of money.
- Sally: in Florida
To me, being comfortable with sexuality and being comfortable aligning oneself with the porn business aren't quite the same thing. I think it's okay to pass up some opportunities for profit when they don't suit an organization's mission or philosophy.
- Kathy Fitch
This is a great Saturday night conversation... lol
- Kevin Whalen
I'll talk about porn seriously. Where do I start?
- Brian Felix
from iPhone
I formerly worked for a web hosting service that did the same thing that Sally referred to regarding disallowing "adult content websites" that approached us about hosting. I've noticed that most web hosting services (including Rackspace and its affiliates) seem to keep porn from entering their business realm. What's your thoughts on that, Robert?
- Michael Owens
from iPhone
Michael: I will be at Rackspace tomorrow and will check on our policies.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
Robert. there's a guy here in Tokyo putting out cyber-porn, sensual Mad Max type stuff, as Twitter novella. Check him out on Twitter: @mopedronin
- Tokyo Dan
from BuddyFeed
Probably a conspiracy to drive up prices for hosts that allow porn (very very few). Odd really for a perfectly legal past-time.
- Mark
What a minute...there's porn in the Internet?!?! Who knew ;)
- Kenny
For me this problem seems to be coming from MyBlogLog. Right now I'm being stalked by a Sheyla S who's MyblogLog account and blog is all about tits & ass, trying to link from BlogCatalog to Mybloglog to my Twitter account and then trying to follow me here at FriendFeed. I don't even log in Mybloglog. This person was also a member of Blogcatalog and was visiting my profile for weeks but...

I blame Scoble. It's always his fault :-)

Giorgio - I'm seeing some activity through the Twitter API, too (that's what TweetDeck uses, I believe); not a lot, but some

I thought it was just my connection. ;-) I'm also having problems with Facebook today.
- Timothy Federwitz
yeah, it seems the web interface is down but the api is working..
- Giorgio
I think the social media experts are going to spend the next hour talking about Twitter being down

Scoble's followers where the glue keeping Twitter together! now that he's 'pulled the pin' and released them all, Twitter has fallen down and can't get up.

You broke it Bob! All this follow/unfollow madness.

Yiorgas: read a book for a change? I do that anyway, but only about 10/month. need more twitter time to balance it out
- Rachel Clarke
Facebook is copying twitter too closely...even to going down at the same time
- Robert Littlejohn
Does Twitter have what it takes to be a big player? We've been working with their API on a project and every time there is something out of whack. Anyone else have the same issues?
- Chris Nadeau
twitter is really down, I think twitter itself should have a site that tweets when it's down :)
- Ata İsmet Özçelik
They will use FF to inform their friend that twitter is down
- Didier Girard
This is very interesting that it is impacting more than one social network ... can't even speculate what the cause is yet. Not getting much work done today I'm afraid, going to be following these conversations..
- Joe Magennis
I haven't been on twitter for days. I guess I picked the wrong morning to jump back in.

Robert: The most important question>> How many new sign-ups for FF today?
- K.N. Ajit Narayan

- Tad Chef
This actually made me laugh out loud, because I was thinking the same thing!

This kind of reminds me of a line from Office Space: "I must have put a decimal point in the wrong place or something. Shit. I always do that. I always mess up some mundane detail."
- Jari Hakkarainen
Could this mean that CNBC was right??? Nooooooooooo!
- Travis Koger
I was planning to unfollow a bunch of followers due to Twitter's follow limit rule kicking in at the ~#2000 user level. I have to wait with that then... ;)

twits will move, but only until twitter is back online, then there will be a mass exodus. Remember during all of the 2007/2008 fail whales users still flocked back to it regardless.

What will the blackhat SEO experts, the SM spammers, and the social media experts do during a widespread outage? The answer is obvious: While sitting out the crisis they're fine-tuning their methodology. Seriously, your question offends me. There's a gazillion of SEO experts out there who do not abuse social media.
- Sebastian
Sebastian there can't be a gazillion SEO experts! What's 10,000 keywords times 20?? (and that's being generous!)
- Arleen Anderson
Would a social media expert consider it to be a crisis? If they rely so heavily on just one or two tools that it's enough to throw them into a tizzy, their expert status would seem to me to be ... questionable, at best.
- Gord McLeod
Arleen, 10,000 keyword phrases times 20 is a tiny fraction of the search terms that are worth optimizing for. Think of the long tail. Also, consider lots of webmasters and even publishers / site owners / bloggers / Web developers ... SEO experts who are able to optimize their stuff quite successfully but don't sell or publish their expertise. Many of them, and even many SEO consultants, do make sensible use of social media, as plain users.
- Sebastian
Gord, in a social media spammer's book 2 hours of outage, IOW 2 hours w/o sales from sneakily distributed links to questionable sales pitches, can sum up to way more than a good day's beer money. ;) However, "crisis" might be a term too strong for this potential loss.
- Sebastian
Arleen: yes, reading this is fun. Sebastien SEO types are so easy to wind up. ;-)

- Mark "DerBingle" J
Robert, admit it, you broke Twitter by massively unfollowing people. The DDoS attack reports have just been a ruse to cover up the fact that you were the backbone of Twitter all this time.
- Louis Trapani

Ha! The whole Facebook Twitter slowdown may have been just people clicking on spam (not a DDoS botnet). How funny! Manual DDoS. See Bill Woodcock's theory at CNet, AP, SF Gate, and The Register http://ff.im/6gLmO
- Mitchell Tsai
There you go again implying the only ones that use twitter is SEO experts, the celebrities, the spammers, the bots, and the social media experts - This is definitely SPIN. Perhaps you should join CNN also LOL

Some people just don't like seeing kids. No big deal. Some people would consider it unnecessary to post such feelings to explain an action none of us are concerned with anyway. Fabricated big deal. The choice of words tells me that this is an attempt at fabricating a big deal. It flopped. Negative cred.
- Jack (a.k.a. Jeber)
I categorize these kinds of posts with the "I'm deleting my FF account because of..." posts. Bait to get a crapload of comments and likes.
- Beau Liening
Why is Louis Gray in quotes? Is that not his real name? Or is that code for something? Inappropriate use of quotes is totally "FTW"!
- pea
Well I'll be damned! I haven't looked at Friendfeed since I made the initial post. And I didn't post it to start some kind of bait to get comments. I couldn't care less. I was just being honest. Louis is probably a nice guy and I wish he had two feeds (or does he?): one for tech posts and one for family posts. I'd subscribe to the first and pass on the second. "Children should neither be seen or heard from - ever again." - W. C. Fields
- Tokyo Dan
I'm more interested in subscribing to real people than edited personnas.

Scott of Two Countries, Who's edited and who's real?
- Tokyo Dan
I think Scott is saying that by removing the twins and putting them in a second feed, that would be edited.
- Louis Gray
That's right. If you want a tech feed, there are plenty of places for it, but IMO FriendFeed is not about narrow feeds, but multi-faceted people.
- Scott of Two Countries
OK. My initial post was cold. I sincerely apologize to you Louis. But I was really irritated. I subscribe to your posts for tech. And to tell the truth, I tire very easily of seeing constant family pictures of even my close friends. Sorry if that makes me an asshole. But if I feel like that then there must be others who feel the same way. Or am I really that unique? Anyway, two feeds...

This all boils down to the way communication is done on social networks. Today, the burden of sorting through feeds is almost exclusively done by the receiver. I have been using Shazam for song recognition but Midomi blows it out of the water. Granted it's not free ($4.99) but it's A LOT faster than Shazam at recognizing songs and also offers a bunch of other features. It's #4 in paid app music section of iTunes - http://www.midomi.com/index...

Twitter is about being a framework that everyone else can build products/services on to add additional functionality that people can choose to use or not to use.

The argument is that the RSS model is too slow because of the pull architecture. Every time you check the RSS you need to download the entire thing. A push architecture would be better.
- Peter Kruit
When you are posting to Twitter, you probably aren't using RSS, but when you are using a Twitter client, you are using a form of RSS.

After all the twitter debate over the last few months, I see more and more people stating how much Google Reader is still integrated into their daily news gathering.

I use Google Reader everyday Matthew.
- Jason Hansen
I use RSS feeds from twitter, and twitter searches combined with yahoo pipes fed into Google Reader to monitor topics and searches in Twitter
- Gabe
I use RSS more than ever as well, but that's the only thing I use, and further, it's not how I'm going to see breaking news. But I use it more, and for more purposes as well
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
I still use Google Reader because 1) it allows me to read full-text feed without leaving the service 2) it is clean, there is no FoaF content - I want FoaF entries in FF but still want a service that has only content I explicitely ordered.
- Jérôme Flipo
Google Reader shows me how many articles I have. If I followed a lot of people on Twitter, I would miss so much, right?
- Jason Hansen
I use google reader to make sure I don't miss articles from my favorite people
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Technically that might be true Steve, but they use similar forms of RSS, they are very close.
- Colin
The argument is that RSS doesn't have the role it once did, for certain people (including Scoble). Everytime anybody updated their blog, he pulled it down through his reader. Now, this happens through Twitter/etc and he doesn't PULL it, it gets pushed to him through another service. And in this context of Roberts life, YES it is not in use anymore.
- Jackson Pollock
It seems as though twitter has given Google Reader a bump in mindshare.

what evolution does RSS need, it works perfectly.
- Matthew
I think RSS from SINGLE SOURCES may be dead. Downstream RSS generated feeds generated as mashups of a bunch of sources are more useful. Real time is more about content and not the source of that content. In that case, automated and dynamically generated feeds are more useful.
- Mike Bracco
Too much information in Google Reader?
- Jason Hansen
I don't disagree. For me, a LOT of the same material was being shared on FF already so I didn't need to keep watching some of my feeds. :)

Twitter/FriendFeed did not change my usage of Google Reader. Twitter has too much noise. FriendFeed doesn't have all the subjects I'm interested in.

Twitter went mass market. Google Reader didn't. Facebook went mass market. Google Reader didn't. Friendfeed is much more used than Google Reader and friendfeed hasn't gone mass market yet.

I still don't see why we can't use these tools to compliment each other

I like google reader's ability to infinitely scroll into feed history. This is valuable when mining data from Yahoo Pipes. Great tool for content analysis

Agree w/ Gillmor that Bundles is wrong feature to focus on for Reader. Better to enhance mechanisms to get Reader items into FF. Currently, RSS is the only way - that doesn't work in realtime.

Jim: it creates a conversation of where the future will go and the protocols and tools we need to get there. Google Reader isn't good enough for this environment.
- Robert Scoble
Well, if someone isn't using Google Reader anymore, to that person, it might be dead ;)

it's so funny how a tiny percentage of people in California bury themselves in themselves and what they find to be relevant. What you miss is that the money, the users, everything a business like Twitter or Facebook wants, is not in California. It's the rest of the world. And not a soul in the rest of the world has any clue about FriendFeed yet. Not a clue.
- Jackson Pollock
exactly Jerome - when Steve says it's dead, he doesn't mean literally dead. just that the technology has/will/should be replaced for certain things that are technically superior
- Jamie
Peter: if the user base is stagnant and not growing, then it is "dead." Scoble is right, though. Dead can be a misleading term.

I like the fact that FF save the chat and I can search it later
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
how do people identify themselves on here? I'm jccalhoun everywhere online
- jccalhoun
Robert, most of FF users (IMO) still use GReader besides FF. For me, they're very complementary. They should diverge in their development to better serve their users in their new usage.
- Jérôme Flipo
Friendfeed isn't a magazine to the majority
- ralphsaunders
I think Steve's right in this way: Realtime has the mindshare. We will see rapid development in this space. RSS has pretty much fulfilled it's promise, so you won't see a lot of new and interesting tools in this area. But I think that once realtime matures, something else will grab developer attention.

Jerome: absolutely wrong. Twitter does NOT have decentralized moderation.

Why doesnt FF have a "comment" link/button at the bottom next to the last comment in the thread? No way to sort recent comments to the top?

Steve Gillmors work on attention has been very inspirational for me, but mostly as a philosophical concept - so far the implementations haven't blown me away. yet.

I dropped off the IRC chat. The friendfeed chat is better because I know who I am talking to and because these chats stick around.

C Lloyd, they've got an a/v sync problem. Apparently when YouTube does its encoding the sync is skewed.

Though discussion because it touches on too many dimensions: RSS as a data format, RSS as a client experience, RSS as a latency, RSS as a solitary experience compared to twitter as a social experience.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
RSS (ATOM) is going to continue to be a key extensible data integration format (as proven) by the work on Atom Pub and the Activity Stream initiatives.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
But new experiences will be built on top of the RSS data integration platform (which will evolve from a simple pull to a combination of push and pull). Many new experience to adapt to both the fact that an increasing number of people are mobile, an increasing number of people want to use their social connections as a filter and an increasing number of people like to check new more often than in the past.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
Just watched the re-run, RSS is not dead (yet) but it's not the main technology used for key innovations in realtime, which is Gillmor's point and finally it's getting understood by others.

I'm from Johnstown, PA. One of my dreams was to return home with billions of dollars, flood the town to cover the rotting steel mills and create casinos and resorts around the man-made lake. There'd be boating and swimming in the summer (imagine diving to get a look at the old submerged steel mills) and skiing in the winter, with Las Vegas-style entertainment year-round.
- Tokyo Dan
My father worked for Bethlehem Steel all of his life. Now many rusty steel mills rot unattended in this valley town that is surrounded by mountains. Johnstown is like a hole in the earth which makes it susceptible to floods. http://tinyurl.com/rd3hj9 There have been three major floods: 1889, 1936 and 1977. 2,200 people were killed in the 1889 flood which was caused by the rich steel...

My Poken is the pink one. You hold it against his. They automatically have "poken sex" and trade your information, which you can then see up on the DoYouPoken website. Very cute and would have saved me a lot of money in scanning business cards in.
- Robert Scoble
That is, if everyone had them. Right now they are too expensive to go really viral, though.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, I have one. I agree with You, too expensive (15 euro each one)
- Luca Conti
I can't wait until these are cheap and available to everyone, which hopefully will be soon.
- Trish R
12 of them costs about $189, which is way too much. If they can get the cost down to $1 or $2 a piece, then I could see them taking off. Until then, they are fun game if you get one for free at a conference or something like that.
- Robert Scoble
in italy poken is amazing and overbooked !!!!
- michele ficara
This is hilarious! Poken sex is better than no sex! I actually heard something about the iphone app that sort of does this by exchanging info as you get close to another iphone user who also has the app. I do think physical cards will go away.
- Sheryl
probably wont catch on here in the states, but cool idea
- sean percival
It's a cool technology, though, and lots of fun to do at a conference if everyone has them (they are building them into badge holders, too).

Way too expensive, and would you really ask a client "Do you Poken"?

- Gordon Wheeler
What happens if someone just walks by and they have one do they automatically get your information
- Matt Bebich
Gordon: I wouldn't advise using that as a pickup line! :-)
- Robert Scoble
Matt: no. They have to touch to exchange information.
- Robert Scoble
Oh, and they have "executive" versions coming out that don't look cartoonish.
- Robert Scoble
Sean, when they go down in price, they will totally catch on in the U.S. I went to a conference here in Houston where your badge was also a thumb drive with everyone's contact info on it and we were talking about how handy these will be when people are using them.
- Trish R
embed this tech into a mobile and you have a winner

I just checked them out... The price for one isn't ridiculous. Under $20. I've spent more on memory keys and Walkie Talkies in the past. :)
- Sean Kearney
Consider the cost of a box of business cards before saying these are too expensive. Richard +1
- Justin Hopkins
Business cards can be used with everyone, these things can't (yet) Cards are still king.
- Bruce Fraser
I thought you couldn't buy them individually yet.
- Trish R
I like the idea. It's definitely neat. I would pay for a "Poken" with a custom logo on it. It definitely is unique.
- Sean Kearney
If they are going to replace business card maybe they should not make them look like something that comes with a Happy Meal.
- Brendan Clancy
Maybe they should give them away with Happy Meals, then we'd all have one...
- Bruce Fraser
There are new models coming that look very "executive."
- Robert Scoble
And if they really went viral, and someone Pokened profligately and started spreading PSTDs that ruined your Poken's ability to replicate...
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Scoble: $1 or $2? $10 seems worth it, the savings in business cards alone could justify the expense. executive would be a plus... (i'm picturing a monkey in a suit.)
- Marco
Saw these about six months ago and thought it was a fart in the wind. Can't believe this is still around.
- Chris Menning
I'm all for adding a bit of fun to productivity. We take ourselves so freaking seriously all the time. This seems like a useful step away from somber zombiefication. Now for the corporate types who want faceless uniformity, surely custom Poken with suitably unremarkable appearances and all the functionality could become reality. Am I FFing myself out of my next job? Maybe I should go for a ride.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Robert -- i've got a cute little Geisha girl one. They're up to cool stuff. The cool thing is, the info isn't stored so if you lose it, you don't give up info. It's just an exchange of ID's. I love them. Ok, i'm partial. Had dinner with Renate and she rocks. Don't write cuteness off just yet guys. They're up to stuff. :)
- Christine Lu
I have one, KPMG gave some Poken at a professional forum for my school. I think, there are two problems. First it really doesn't look business, but as you said, a business version is coming. And, it only works with another poken, it should works with Iphone or blackberry using the bluetooth and a free application we can download for Iphone or Blackberry.

they could be free and then it would be possibile to buy and exchange virtual goods. I do not see any future for business card: it is something that you can do with your mobile phone and I wonder why it is not yet implemented in the address book.

I like this. Even tried to buy a 12-pack. Link is broken. This does not bode well for this company.
- Leo Laporte
Once they get Poken with a bigger size limit (I think you can only store the contact information of 12 contacts at one time), maybe add a few more useful features in there as well, then we'll have a good product. Make them look like real high-tech business cards and THEN it will really catch on.
- Malcolm Bastien
@LeoLaporte Yes the website is their biggest weakness. The "card" information editor is abysmal.
- KyleHase
Cute and all but seriously, no businessman outside silicon valley is going to carry one of these things around.

Good point tristan: "it should works with Iphone or blackberry using the bluetooth and a free application we can download for Iphone or Blackberry".

Reminds me of that line from Singles when that once character is trying to convince everyone that they will want to ride the train but everyone answers, "but i love my car". People love business cards for better or worse, it's a way to be a designer without being one.
- adolfo foronda
You can store 64 identities on the current model. Once you reach that limit, it erases the first one. The device signals you at 60. I have three poken, just in case, but most of the time, I don't reach that limit. As soon as I go to my Mac and connect with doyoupoken.com, contacts are saved.
- Paul Papadimitriou
Note: beware of putting multiple pokens in one pocket: they talk to each other ;-)
- Paul Papadimitriou
I love the idea/bought 12 and have tried to push them a bit with my networking group however the lack of effort on the companies part to promote them in the US is really slowing things down. Adoption will not come with out some serious evangelism and seeding on the companies part.
- Joel Ordesky
Poken are doing great here in Japan. I helped the launch at a blogger event a couple of months back and there's been steady progress since then. I'm helping evangelize Poken here. The company has really done a lot of thinking in order to make Poken a success. Will definitely be interested to see whether they can get to a critical mass. I certainly hope so as they are are a huge time and cost saver. (If you think of the cost of one business card, one unit will pay for itself in a short amount of time).
- Andrew Shuttleworth
@ashuttleworth You're the Poken Pimp of Tokyo. Most people I've pokened said they got it from you.

@papadimitriou The Poken are conspiring against you. Quick, wrap them in foil before they know too much.
- KyleHase
The Poken are clearly conspiring against me :-) Hey, I'm the official evangelist along with Andrew, so I had to test things out for you all ^^

Had a nice chat with Robert Scoble a few weeks back where I offered him a Poken by mail. Complete waste of space. Buy a Poken but nobody has one. Pointless. Should be a phone as everyone else says. It's been said over and over with this product, why don't they just patent the technology and sell it to a mobile phone maker? Job done. Tired of these bullshit Web 2.0 gimmicks...

I actually think http://www.mynameise.com will appeal much more to people actually using business cards. The connector is coming and brings much more than people giving each other an online card to look at. They did not win The Next Web Award for nothing :)

Since you're going to keep it and ride it, invest in clipless SPD pedals and matching shoes <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...>. Biggest risk vector on a tadpole trike (=2 wheels in front/ 1 in the back; as opposed to 1/2 delta-type) is, when panic braking, or otherwise, you set down your foot on the ground and get dragged under the cross-boom, with injuries to the knee to follow. You can actually do this with Google Reader, you add the 5 feeds, tag them wit the same tag (put them into the same folder) then make the tag/folder public and you then have a shared RSS feed. For example, I have loads this one is for my photography feeds: http://www.google.com/reader...

THE YEAR OF NO MONEY IN TOKYO is an intimate, first-person, true story about triumphing over adversity, in the form of being poor and American, in Japan, during the country`s worst recession, since the Second World War. The book depicts the financial, emotional, and psychological effects of yearlong unemployment on a foreigner in Japan; draws attention to how economic hardship can be an opportunity for reinvention; and highlights an aspect of what it`s like to be black and simultaneously American in Japan. The book will inspire people who have experienced misfortune, by showing them that they can recover, even under the most difficult circumstances. THE YEAR OF NO MONEY IN TOKYO will interest a variety of readers, from economists and financiers, to those concerned with today`s economy, students of Japanese culture, and those who enjoy an uplifting message about hope, human kindness and perseverance.
