I personally use a kind of expand-contract cycle for my subscriptions. When I discover some new topics of interest, I try to find many voices, then later I purge them down to the ones that I feel are providing the best round-ups on the subject, the best writers, the best connected, etc. That way, I choose my own experts, based on merits, not on popularity or initial appeal. At least that's the purpose. I don't know if I succeed in this every time. - Meryn Stol
