That's taking fan service to a big extreme, don't you think?
- Piaw Na
I thought that sort of thing was relatively common among HK stars. Didn't Jackie Chan keep his marriage secret for a few years?
- Andrew C
He may alternatively have been keeping it secret to grow his fanbase. Like how Ricky Martin refused to answer whether he's straight or gay, to avoid alienating a bunch of fantasizing fans.

"Wanna"? What is the world coming to. You'd think a company as big as Google could employ people who know how to write.
- Gilbert Harding
Gilbert, I'm sure the Googlers in Oz know how to write proper. I reckon they're just trying to get down with their target audience - i.e. the kool kidz! (Seriously though, do error messages really need to be formal? I like the more relaxed approach...)
- Tony Ruscoe
Thanks for sharing with those of us who waited before jumping in.

I wonder how long it will take before people can "like" a wave... If they added it to GReader, it seems like only a matter of time...

"For much of its history, Google has responded to most criticism with two words: Trust us. The company has repeatedly persuaded skeptics that its immensity is a mere byproduct of its altruistic mission and that the algorithms it uses to organize the Internet, while proprietary, are objective and benevolent. But in an economy destroyed by bad faith, secretive formulas, and complicated mathematics, trust is in short supply, and Google's assurances are losing their persuasive power. More than 15 years ago, federal regulators began making Microsoft the symbol of anticompetitive behavior in the tech industry. Now, a newly activist DOJ may try to do the same thing to Google."
- Jérôme Flipo
Google Moon is awesome but the priority should be on data liberation (quick batch backup for Google Docs and transfer to Zoho), and stronger commitment for "free as in speech" (Creative Commons, Mozilla, Wikimedia, OpenStreetMap...).
- Jérôme Flipo
Ahah! Google shared this "commitment to free expression" yesterday https://friendfeed.com/orli.... But I discovered it just 31' ago. Perfect coincidence :)

One thing I have noticed is that in any ovie, v show, etc where anything odd happens, the English are always portrayed as standing in place saying something like "This can't be happening" or some stupid thing like that, when it clearly IS happening. Is this some sort of national trait? I like to think that if, say, the dead rise and turn on the living, I would fight back + run to safety FIRST and worry about the ontological implications after.
- Neal Jansons
Laugh, sure. But your pounds sterling end up in a California bank account. ;-)

My cousin dl'ed the Moron Test and tried to get me to take it. I told him he'd already failed because he was a moron for buying it in the first place. He was unamused. I wasn't.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
To be fair, he's kind of a tool, so it's less a reflection of the app and more a reflection of how much I want to throw him off the nearest high-rise.

I notice that the U.S. is no longer a nation of morons -- for the last few days, "The Sims 3" is #1, so we're now a nation of replicants.
- Stephen Mack
got this after my first intelligent use of ff filtered search. populist USA likes to feign ignorance and UK likes to superficial awareness

"You can find representative entities of the human species in most local zoos. Visitors of model version 4.55 and lower receive special discounts; while the brain of humans is likely incapable of experiencing pain, please do not feed or break them."
- Paul Buchheit
Thomas, "names" became irrelevant when the Universal Intelligence deployed IPv42 in 2035. However, there is an archival reference to a "Patrick" Scoble, one of the leaders of the Human Resistance Movement, with a footnote mentioning his father Robert.

"Other inhabitants of the planet such as Bonobo Apes or the Arrowtooth Eel are believed to have had higher brain capacities, but no intent to build the internet."
