Josh if I had made a list you would most certainly be on it. Us Portland guys have to stick together. You, me, Joe Perrin, Alex Scoble, Alex Williams, who else is here? - Aaron Krug
You better work on those self-aggrandizing, attention whore skills if you want to make the list :) - Tom Novak

Posting here and on Twitter: I'm thinking of selling my Vaio UX380N with extended battery, cradle (plus orig batter)
You've been happy with it. Are you wanting a new model or switching to Macs? - Tom Novak
Naw, I rarely use it. BTW, I'm primarily Mac-based if the damn things weren't so break-y lately. - Eric Rice
what do you want for it and does it have HSDPA? - Aura Mae
Yeah I know you are, I'm wondering because I am in a heated Mac vs PC discussion centered around using Sound forge. I have to make a phony-baloney guru recommendation to a tech neophyte about what platform to use. Sony on Sony is knee jerk pick for the marketing side of the net -as you no doubt already know. Coin toss? - Tom Novak
Aura: I'm thinkin around 1300, which is about 1000 for the unit and 300 for the extended life battery I just got. I know there was a Cingular card in it, but not sure about HSDPA. - Eric Rice

Slovakia's women's ice hockey pummels Bulgaria 82-0 - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008...
"With more goals than minutes in the game, Slovakia's women's ice hockey team claimed an amazing 82-0 victory over Bulgaria in Olympic qualifying. Slovakia outshot the Bulgarians 139-0 during the 60-minute game, played in Latvia. The margin of victory is a record for a women's International Ice Hockey Federation-sanctioned event." - Matthew Gifford from Bookmarklet

Been doing a ton of math and having a ton of debate here with people in my house and ultimately, this whole damn election is lose-lose no matter how it's sliced. Worse for Californians, even. /end shitstorm
From an article, I share the quote: "It should always be remembered that our President can encourage and support legislation, but he or she doesn’t pass it. Both Houses of Congress would have to pass most of the initiatives proposed or supported by any president in their campaign rhetoric." - Eric Rice
gridlock might be a good thing. The fackin government is too intrusive as it is. - Mattb4rd
One thing that's apparent, is that if you are poor, work to become successful and such, you end up hitting the wall--- building a business from scratch means you'd have to start w/Obama and continue with McCain. Gah. So don't monetize TOO much, right? Heh. - Eric Rice
Whoever cuts MY taxes gets my vote. /end story. - Tom Novak
No President will ever fix the tax code. It will take all of us to get that done and it starts with the smallest local offices and the rest is a long and arduous journey of replacing politicians with real people. I really like what Fred Thompson said at the RNC this week: Now our opponents tell you not to worry about their tax increases. They tell you they are not going to tax your... more... - Zach Petersen

I just realized I gave out the remaining biz cards at Gnomedex and have none for VWorlds2008 in LA. But seriously, *business cards* at a virtual world conference? I should telepathically BEAM that data to you. Can't we upgrade? I'll say this, next rev of cards will be products. :)
Eric does not need business cards - just Google the man! - Matt Hartley
oh man, use dropcard or something! - Admiral Anika
i normally use moo.com but not on this short notice...i should also ping the tokyo crew about their thoughts since the card thing is SO part of biz culture. - Eric Rice
Someone mentioned awhile ago to hook up a Nintendo DS and pictochat your info to them :P You could do the same for a PSP (I think it was Alexander Williams who said it). I want that personally. - Candace
Honestly, I don't understand this card thing. I was beaming people with palm pilots 8 years ago. In fact, it was considered RUDE to have business cards when I went to infrastructure conferences. - Christine Cavalier
@Christine, i work in telecommunications and i've run into situations where handing a biz card is a huge faux pas. beam it or forget it is what i've been told. - Admiral Anika
Of course, how do we know what can be beamed or not, what's compatible or not. I wouldn't even know how to transfer between a treo and iphone or blackberry and nokia... and i'm like from the FUTURE n shit. :) - Eric Rice
so... years ago Palm had the biz card beaming feature. I remember loving it. Where did it go? How did it fall out? - Michael Markman from twhirl
its bluetooth, don't the smurfs in our phone just make it work. i used to have a PPC6700 and now i have an instinct. I've never had a problem beaming anyone anything, except when I was in vegas and my phone would not pick up or receive data from the iphone user standing next to me. that was the only time in the past 5 years that's happened.. - Admiral Anika
i think the other point i'm making is that i can't even recall having run across the need to do this, much less, even know *how* to - Eric Rice
I know this doesn't help you for next week, but if it is an important contact, in the future perhaps use a branded flash drive w/ your contact info and sample of work? There are a few sites like this out there: http://www.usb-flashdrive.com/us... - tagami
tagami: actually i have a use for flash drives for another project ;) but yeah, great idea for some for biz card replacements - Eric Rice
I'm at Dragon*Con and I've seen some great anime themed cards the last few days. I like business cards - I should make some :) - Tom Novak

Murderdrome banned by Apple
Murderdrome banned by Apple
yeah, c'mon decapitation, that *might* fall into the unreasonable category - Pete Delucchi
and this is different from all the R-rated movies how? - Eric Rice
the comments on the blog here are great; MURDER drome is being banned from iTunes for, what I'll assume is gratuitous violence, like the beheading captioned here. While I personally, find this hilarious, and thank you Eric btw for turning me onto murderdrome, this kind of graphic art pretty easily falls outside the realm of the decency that Apple likes. - Pete Delucchi
Yep. Apple likes, or you don't see :P - Yuvi
So wait, you can sell comics on the iPhone? - sergiooo
Well in theory, sure, there are lots of books for sale and i just picked up the manga POCHIYAMA which is a kinda steep 5.99. This (and even things like Qik for iPhone) really underscores the need for the jailbreak market because Apple choosing to make the rules for the hardware, software AND distribution is kind of monopolistic. Not even Mercedes pulls this crap, and that's a pretty damn elite as a brand. - Eric Rice
Rick, of course, the issue is, the location location location thing... the marketing effort for your media is put on YOU, and chances of discovery from within the 'mall' are reduced. I've found vlogs when searching for music and glad I did.. they were just lucky to be in the system as part of the machine. - Eric Rice
Somewhere in E.C. comics heaven, William Gaines is LOL - Tom Novak
Do they see themselves in a publisher's role with editorial choices? I'm not talking about the gore but as comics go this one is pretty crappy, the art is decent but there's no real story, and wouldn't select it for distribution with my company's name on it. The shot selection and presentation are unimaginative and we don't really care for the characters. The creators have the right to publish a crap comic, (just look at mine, hardy har har,) but does Apple have the right to turn down a crap comic? - sergiooo
So Apple's now an art critic? This is the problem I have with Vimeo and other sites that put their subjectivity into the product design. Seriously, what DO WE ALL LOOK ALIKE. Also, I don't consider Apple to be the publisher, they are a distribution channel. Also, I didn't view it as a crap comic, so who is right? - Eric Rice
I'm right, of course :) Time after time big companies prove that it's not what we see them as, but what they see themselves as. Substitute Murderdome with Happy Tree Friends or Sin City and I'd say 'Apple has no taste, oh well' but not this. I'm not personally invested in the topic because I don't use any Apple products, nor do i work for them. Just not going to spend energy fighting for what i think is a piece of crap. Their comic is right there for everyone to read so i don't see a censorship argument. - sergiooo
So Apple is ok with violence in the movies and tv they sell but not the comics? Lame! - Andrew
Andrew i do agree that Apple is lame about that, and in general. - sergiooo
I know what you mean serigiooo we should just shut up and take what big media/software thinks is right. Now where did I put my clear channel program guide? ;) - Eric Rice
Ahem, that's why i don't own any apple products. It seems to be good enough for wordpress though, so Wordpress FTW. Where can i buy a wordpress t-shirt? - sergiooo

Dealing with some surprise back pain this AM that is limiting a my range of motion. Can't pinpoint a cause, specific pattern or remedy (other than being in the 'sit lean forward' position). It's like i can bend down but not up.
(you can 'like' this and not offend me, read on) typing hurts, i could use a touchscreen table for sure. i'm going to try and document my thresholds and levels of pain based on posture, range of motion. Bear with me as my FF is gonna get kinda funky - Eric Rice
three levels of pain. 'aware' 'feel' 'affected' where i can concentrate and notice the pain but not feel it (aware); i can feel the pain but not be afffected (feel); i can feel the pain and be given cause to stop because it hurts or could hurt (affected)... do these make sense? - Eric Rice
maybe video would be easier lol - Eric Rice

This is a perfect example of when an "interest' button would work better than "like." I am interested in how this turns out, but don't want to come off as a jerk by liking it. Could get totally misinterpreted. - Eban Crawford
I hereby give permission for everyone to click LIKE if you are fascinated by me taking my physical misery and turning it into a science project. - Eric Rice
ok, doing two tests, one with a bike and one with a segway. i can 100% be comfortable and not in pain on a bike. Doing a segway test now (i've never had the chance to be in pain to see how that motorized thing works in cases of mobility-- i don't know what 'i can stand but not walk' would be like)... developing. - Eric Rice
ok segway didn't cause as much stress as I thought it would, although my truck-- getting in and sitting had higher 'feel' and getting out was right up there at 'affected' read: OW - Eric Rice
pain semms to be broad ache across middle and upper back - Eric Rice
getting up out of chairs both low ones and high ones seems to still rate high on affected scale, although I sense I'm either adapting or acclimating or working it out. Pain threshold is high but I'm able to distinguish I think, between levels of intensity - Eric Rice

I have a long-standing belief (not really prediction) that Second Life has always been a waste of time. :) - l0ckergn0me
Yeah the entire gaming industry itself, all 18 billion dollars of it, IS kinda silly. - Eric Rice

they are so beautiful! i am in SoCal, and see a lot of them (and they are NOT shy. they fly right onto my balcony and hover around a bit)....but i always get excited when i see one. - carlotta fancypants
They are amazing. When I first moved back home there was no freeze for a few years, and our Penta grew enormous. Every evening a half-dozen hummingbirds would take turns swooping into them & I'd sit by the kitchen window and watch. Fascinating. - Brian Oberkirch

I was at Lynx Lake State Park in AZ last week, and the restaurant on the lake had hummingbirds fluttering up to the feeders hanging in front of the large bay windows all morning. I haven't seen one in years. Back when there were more rose bushes and other flowering plants around where I live I use to see them alot. - Paul from twhirl
I saw two today... Amazing birds. - David Finch
The other interesting thing about them, at least around here, is they don't seem to be too scared of humans. I'll be on my deck watering plants and they'll still hit the feeder, perch on the railing, etc. Most other birds won't do that. Guess they just know I can't catch 'em. ;) - Anthony Citrano
