There's a new 1000HA version coming out for $430. Basically the same as above but without Draft N wireless. White or black. http://www.amazon.com/1000HA-...

One of the main reasons I want this is to put Mac OS X on it. Brian Jarvis showed me his Acer Aspire One Hackintosh today, and it FLIES. So impressive. I can't wait! :-) http://www.maceee.com/how-to-...

This one is definitely impressive if you do need yet another machine - I have learned that I'd better keep my bag a little heavier with a larger machine than having to synchronize information constantly between the two of them.

Svetlana - that's where "cloud computing" is appealing. When all of your data is "in the cloud" (e.g., my stuff is in Google Docs, Gmail, GCal, etc.), you gain the ability to slide from computer to computer, and your "state", your data and documents, effortlessly follow you. Then you can use whatever computer is best for the job! :-)

Bill - it would be nice if the bigger 10" screen has higher resolution, and SSD is definitely cool (literally cooler, also a bit lower power, plus no moving parts, no hard drive crashes, etc.). That's why I first went for the 901 20GB (which I've since put XP on). In fact, if it wasn't a problem for playing with Hackintosh (the secondary SSD on the Eee PCs is just too slow to run OS X), and wasn't about $100 more expensive, I'd be drooling over/about to buy the SSD version of the Eee PC 1000.

You could always replace the hard drive with a 2.5" SSD drive. The prices for those are dropping. I also wish it had a higher resolution. For 8.9"/10" screens, 1280x768 would be nice. 7" = 1024x600. 5" = 800x480.

@Josh: I know, cloud computing is such a huge advantage when you can give all your information to Google and never worry about it any more :) Sorry, but I am a bit skeptical about it. I myself am trying to move to web-based apps for almost everything I can but it is not always as secure as I would like it to be. Unfortunately for the time being it is not only information, it is also...

@Rodfather yeah, I can't wait for those big, fast (and expensive!) Intel SSDs to hit the market. :-)

"SuperNotecard is fast becoming the best way for novelists, biographers, researchers, and writers of every stripe to begin to craft their work using notecards." - looks like an interesting tool for mac based writers - via brad (as in sucks)...

There's a Windows version as well (which is what I'm using). The UI is a little funkier than I'd like (probably because it's made by Mac people), but I've been trying my hand at writing again and I like laying stories out as blocks/cards first.
- brad sucks
ah cool - i'm on a mac so saw the windows version but it wasn't a hot link so maybe their sensing my o/s - seems cool i do lots of writing on 3x5's (pulp kind) & on windows i've been using onenote for awhile and like it but thought this looked more straight forward

I've been using this to lay out the 22 pages for my first comic; great for putting down a 1-liner of what should happen in the story on each page, and to begin shifting them around.

DYKC: Celtx now includes comic writing templates, an integrated index card system, and some basic storyboarding support. Just FYI.
- Roger Benningfield
@roger -- I remember hearing about Celtx, I should look into that again.
- DYKC?™
@barry -- Let's just say it has to do with aliens, a slacker hero, and the department of motor vehicles. I'm playing it pretty close to the vest, at the moment...

Interesting. I've got a project where I'm actually really using, you know, actual paper index cards. Method described here: http://is.gd/1cVW . I deliberately chose the old school way, but wonder about digitizing the notecards. Eventually. Will check this app out.
