It'll prob get overhyped, but it was a pretty cool trailer - I'll see it in theaters (if nothing else, out of respect for the original). Fort Minor was a good choice, and they've got some big names in the cast.

I have a family tree going on at geni.com. It's a trip seeing all the different families linked up as more people use the site. Like my cousin's wife's side is all in there too.

I work on my genealogy VERY intermittently.

I've found it's often best to get help and advice from groups focussing on your surnames rather than generic genealogy groups. But I'm no expert and only dabble in my genealogy very occasionally.

It's pretty crazy. I hadn't checked Google Wave for a 5-6 weeks and now when I logged back in pretty much everyone I know seems to have an account. Not much activity from any of them though :( However I did get a couple of waves/messages(?) but didn't know about them since the wave did not send me email :)
Same here, nobody seems to be interested except about giving invite to others. Google wave has failed to live up to its hype for now.

When people first started to use email, did they expect a letter through the post or a telephone call to tell them they had something in their inbox?
- Tony Ruscoe
from fftogo
Tony, I am not sure Wave aspires to replace email ... does it? If so, I am not really clear why/how? Email follows a simple universal protocol and pretty much everyone today can send and receive email. Wave has to come up with something much more compelling for people to switch. Even for one person to use Wave as an email client - wave needs to make sure everyone else the person will...

No, much like email didn't replace the postal service or telephone calls. Email assumes that anyone you want to contact by email has an email address. That's commonplace these days but wasn't when email was first introduced. You're right that it would probably help to have email alerts, but people using Wave regularly don't need that. Personally, I think a common interface for Gmail and Google Wave would help increase its usage and awareness.

There are people in my life who call me to tell me that they've sent me an email. And there are people who I email to tell them that I've updated their wave.
- Amit Patel
i think they should integrate wave with gmail - if you have gmail account, you are a waveist. ..otherwise, i wonder how is it going to catch on ... like friend connect? - almost nobody uses it.
- Petr Buben
Actually I think Google’s Wave project came out so the developers could get some feedback from it’s users and now they’re off correcting the bugs and implementing some of the many suggestions users gave them. I expect an updated, improved and much more friendly to come out of the labs soon.

I would normally say I don't like brussel sprouts, but today the Facebook culinary team combined them with bacon, and they were amazing. Maybe I just like bacon, but they may have changed my mind about the vegetable.
I felt the same way until my wife made her Grandmother's recipe from Lorraine, which involved... lots of bacon. It's amazing what bacon can do for almost any meal.
- Joel Webber
I liked Brussels sprouts even when I was a kid. Of course, I also liked cabbage, with salt and/or butter, and they're basically the same flavor. Also, try Bacon Salt.

I've been seeing this on-and-off since Saturday. I was being allocated a German IP address for a few days before that too. My contract's up in January so it might be time to make the switch...

"We are now making this tool available to the public on Google Labs. To try it, simply visit browsersize.googlelabs.com and enter the URL of a page you'd like to examine. The size overlay you see is using latest data from visitors to google.com, so this should give you a pretty good indication of what parts of your UI are generally visible and what aren't."

There is an odd perception bias with pages that have a floating width layout. If you visit the tool in a very large screen, it makes it seem as though the content is out of the normal view, but if you re-size the browser down to that view size, the content floats back into the visible range.

why is this not part of the Google Analytics suite?
- Gabe
Gabe, that would be awesome. However, Google Analytics currently only includes stats for screen resolution rather than browser window size.

Not sure I agree with not rubbing the chopsticks together. I mean, clearly if there's no splinters there's no point, but most sushi places I go to server wooden chopsticks that often have splinters. Maybe I'm just going to rubbish Sushi places! And although I agree that you should dip the fish not the rice into the soy, I don't see what's wrong with putting the wasabi in there and mixing it up (so long as everyone sharing the bowl are happy with eating it like that).

This is great but I'd like to be able to transfer ownership between Google Accounts and Google Apps accounts (given my wife has just migrated her @gmail.com account to our domain). Currently, it generates this error when trying: "Sorry, cannot transfer ownership to [Google Apps User]. Ownership can only be transferred to another user in the same domain as the current owner."
- Tony Ruscoe
Exactly. That's the only reason why I don't use my Apps account.
- Jérôme Flipo
You can share them and give full permissions but you just can't transfer ownership. It's enough to get by but doesn't make complete migration between accounts possible.

"Google Chrome is now really easy to share. So if you're looking for gift ideas, why not wrap up Google Chrome with one of our shiny themes and give the gift of super fast browsing? Google Chrome is so simple to use, even your granny will love it." (via http://blogoscoped.com/forum...)

Matt it works fine on Chrome on Windows. This is the only platform on which a non-beta version of Chrome is available at the moment. You should use only supported browsers like IE8 and Chrome on Windows, Firefox, Safari and Opera on Windows and Mac OS. If you are using a Linux-based distribution, you should get the latest Moonlight binaries and use a supported browser like Firefox or...
