- anna sauce
Jimmy Castor Bunch - It's Just Begun (1972), this is the ultimate battle record. This is how we fought when we were teens. http://bit.ly/6P69f
- Carlos Ayala
Nope. I don't even look first. I either like it or I don't.
- abacab
why would I be? If I like something, I like something. I'm only reluctantly 'liking' something when the item wording makes it seem like I'm liking something bad.
- Alan Le
Nope. I use likes to put an item into my RSS reader for review later on.
- Kenneth LeFebvre
I think my threshold for liking something based on the interestingness of the content increases as more people like it. I'll like something that may not be too interesting, but I want to see what other people say about it, which may provoke an interesting discussion, but if the item's got a lot of action already, I'm less concerned about potential interestingness and more concerned with actual interestingness.
- Mark Trapp
sometimes I use the "like" button to save something so I can read it, or watch it later, so whether it's a "hot" story at the time doesn't make much difference.
- Iain Baker
No. What are you going to do? Run out? Or do you want to be the first one?
- Louis Gray
Nope. I think it helps bring things forward that others may have missed when initially posted.
- JA Castillo
No. People who subscribe to me will see things when I like them, not when other people they don't subscribe to like them. Plus, I often like things to pull them out later.
- Robert Scoble
Louis, while noting your sentiment, people have, in fact, run out of Likes. Mitchell Tsai and edythe/Polly used to run out on a daily basis. Although they did raise the limit again recently.
- Mark Trapp
@Alan That depends on how much content is actually streaming through your feed.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
I used to like as a way to save for later reading, but now a greasemonkey script does just that.
- Mário Pires
No, mostly use it for bookmarking or resharing interesting things with my own list, quite a few of whom don't follow a lot of the people I follow.
- Sally Church
No, not really. Plus, I'll admit that I sometimes use "Like" as a bookmark.
- ha3rvey, not a sweetheart
I'm going to go out on a limb here and declare that the consensus is, no. For the record, I'm just curious, I'm not reluctant at all personally.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
Sometimes, yes. It's like when something gets over 1000 Diggs on Digg - who really cares after that. Who will know?
- Mark Dykeman
@Mark Yes, that's exactly what I'm asking about, to see if the same thing was happening here on FF
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
Groupthink would posit that you're more likely to like popular items in order to be a part of the group. Maybe the online world has a cliff point where the group doesn't really matter.
- Tony Lopez
If I understand correctly how "like" works, when you like an item, it puts it in your feed for people following you to see. I heard about that yesterday, and I'm pretty sure -- but not 100% sure it's true. So I "like" an item to share with my followers, who might not also be following all those *other* people.
- Mitch Wagner
Nope! I am a like finantic! woo hoo!
- Susan Beebe
I remember learning to use Adobe Illustrator back in 1989. It is one of those apps that totally changed how I looked at computer graphics. But is there any app today that requires such a steep learning curve? Anyway, in my attempt to make my blog more useful, I'm going to try to learn something new every day. What should we learn together?
- Robert Scoble
Learn the exact color of the sky at sundown. Not just "orange" or "pink" but go through all the colors and find the best matches. Then, we would have an even better description of what colors it is when the sun goes down near our homes. Yes, completely non tech and nothing at all to do with the web but..you asked what we should learn and, everyone can do that.
- Candace
Bob- how about XNA Game Studio Express, let's make games?
- Ryan
Iain: tomorrow we're going on a photowalk at about noon at San Francisco's Ferry Building with Thomas Hawk. We're also having Buzz Bruggeman on WorkFast.TV at 10 a.m. I hear he'll teach me some new stuff.
- Robert Scoble
I'd like to learn Episodic, but it's beta is still invite only.
- Brian Ries
Candace: in Half Moon Bay? Easy: gray.
- Robert Scoble
Booo! Now look at all the shades of the color and find the names of those shades..I'm sure there's some blues and other colors in there. @Tim; 42

Learn how to add Disqus to your blog so that you can start responding to comments via e-mail when you're remote?
- Robert Seidman
Good call, Dan Harbison. I started Mandarin about 5 weeks ago. Everyday is another challenge and I'm lovin' every minute of it.
- Christopher Harley
Robert: I'm scared of Disqus and other centralized commenting systems. I'll discuss that on my blog soon.
- Robert Scoble
I think one of the best things to learn these days is how to give back to the community. I find it too often where companies are only interested in themselves and not their employees or customers. Cause marketing should be a key initiative for every company. Not just a monetary donation but get your employees and customers involved. It changes the whole culture in a long-term positive effect. Which cause do you support?
- Randy Ksar
what is Google up to with Knol? Also learn all about the new Open-source initiatives, like Bill Katz’s *Bloog* app based on Google App Engine...this is a new GAE based blogging platform http://bloog.billkatz.com/?
- Susan Beebe
Scoble: I hate to intrude, but any chance I could meet up with you and Thomas tomorrow for the photowalk? I work a few blocks away from the Ferry Building. I've been dying to meet both of you and I can't imagine a better place/way. If not, totally cool, but I thought I would ask :)
- Justin Korn
@Randy couldn't agree more. A friend and I had a discussion recently about things he's doing to try to give back more as well as inspire others to do the same and he's also written about it (http://snurl.com/34bd8). Doesn't always have to be the next great wizbang tech gadget to feel good and inspired.
- Ron Emrick
how to narrow your focus for a while
- Dave Coustan
How to cook something different than what you would usually eat. It's fun, useful and you can blog about it.
- Steven Perez
@Robert I think I'm going to print "What should I learn today?" in 72pt type on some nice paper and hang it in my home office.
- ha3rvey, not a sweetheart
Disqus is one of the few programs that scares me, not just figuring out where/how to add the code but also what the consequences might be if I did. Yesterday I finally figured out how to successfully add G Analytics code to Blogger and Typepad for the 1st time, that was tough enough to start.
- Sally Church
Sweet! Just realized I didn't contribute to the thread... Learn: I feel we are kind of lingering in web 2.0. What is the next step? What should/is 3.0 going to look like? (edit: Just realized this is probably another thread and not a learn topic...doh!)
- Justin Korn
Learn about the semantic web and linked data. That way if you can explain it and deem it worthy, people may listen.
- Rob Diana
learn about something out of your element
- Anna Haro
google analytics and how accurate it actually is in determining trafficking trends and weather or not the data can be corrupted or manipulated by hackers and software.
- Chris Conway
Learn something non-technical but useful, like how to fix a running toilet or how to change your oil in the car.
- Andrew Leyden
Robert -- you should take a well-deserved vacation from learning for a day or two. :) You have one of the most ferociously inquisitive and acquisitive minds for new knowledge I've encountered on or off the net. You're making me feel lazy and sluggish.
- Sean McBride
How to get like, 50 comments in one hour. Oh wait. You figured that one out.
- Josh Haley
Learn how to edit video. Learn about cinematic composition. Learn about how the best interviewers get the best interviews. Then practice it all with your video capturing passion!

Slightly different twist on Tony's suggestion, MIT just posted their Toy Product Design course. Explore that with your son (if he would find it interesting) - http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb...
- Casey
@Andrew - if you don't know those things at your age ...

Note that this was really created for "show and tell" in my meeting this morning and not as a polished product. Not that I've ever produced a polished product.
- Greg Schwartz
Ha! My kids' nonsense post was "best of the day" at the time of your flowgram. Also, by FF is supposed to be private. Your use of my content is slanderous and libelous.
- s t e v e
Yeah, I only realized after the fact that I was likely sharing some private content. I'm sorry about that. It's really served its purpose (demo for colleagues this morning), so I could pull it down if anyone featured is concerned. Wouldn't be a problem. Let me know.
- Greg Schwartz
@griffey I do have a few invites. First 10 FFers to email me: greg.schwartz@gmail.com
- Greg Schwartz
I didn't mind you showing my FF stuff. I'll give you permission after the fact.
- Heidi Blanton
I was, of course, joking about the private stuff (and my lawyer says we'd lose the suit). Privacy on the internet is an illusion </Doug Henning>
- s t e v e
Slanderous and libelous? gee ;( Do you really have to take it down?
- Oldengrey (Jay)
That looks like a really nice screencasting product. I'm always looking for new ones to show my students at SJSU.
- Meredith
Hey, I'm part of the Flowgram team. Thanks for checking it out. Please feel free to hit me up directly if you want regcode, have suggestions or find bugs. Thanks for making this FG Greg.
