Fun day so far at LiveChurch.tv Central Offices. Lunch with the team (minus @km) at @whichwichedmund and meetings this afternoon with @bobbygwald, @terrystorch, and @jt.
All the more reason to start studying HTML5. Web apps is where it's at.
- Scott Magdalein
Google Voice is an interesting reason, but not enough to really make a dent. I mean most people still have home phone numbers instead of just using their mobile. In a year or so this might be a good reason, but right now it won't have any significant effect besides more negative sentiment for AT&T.
- Tony
from iPhone
True, in itself, it's not a big deal. I think the precedent that Apple is setting is the deal-breaker...maybe for me, too. It was tolerable when they rejected the tethering app. It was palatable when they rejected various browsers. But rejecting Google Voice when other VOIP apps are still around is a clear dictatorship. If Apple/AT&T don't like you, you're out. And the users lose.
- Scott Magdalein
Glad to see mindmapping getting some "ink" again. Great stuff.
- Steve Rubel
This is something I've wanted to learn more about, so I'm glad to have this video intro.
- Mark Traphagen
Looks cool. I've used FreeMind, which is free, for a couple years now, but I like how this app is integrated with the Web. Nice stuff.
- Craig Villamor
I've been using NovaMind, haven't gotten in the habit of using religiously but when I do, it does really help to put thoughts down. Is definitely a good place to think before Powerpoint as Michael outlined.
- Lou Paglia
I started using Mind Manager to layout Google AdWords PPC campaigns where I work, but very quickly saw many other uses for it.
- Mark Traphagen
Curio's also neat, it has mind mapping (not as in-depth as MindManager) but a ton of other stuff too - even project tracking! Great for organizing creative projects. Mac only. http://www.zengobi.com/product...
- invariant - farewell FF
he mentioned that software lays on top of mindmanager for project management. can we get some examples of the complimentary software?
- Scott Magdalein
I've used XMind but it has some limitations.. doesn't print well, for example...I'd like to see MindJet used in realtime presentations.. Have any links??
- Patty Seybold
Craig - MindManager is integrated with the web in several ways - embedded web browser, web services, RSS feeds, and more. For instance, you can drag and drop a google doc right onto your map and then edit the content inside MindManager while viewing your map. This lets you flush out your thinking and then reference it while writing. Very powerful combination.
- Michael Deutch
Patty, we have some recorded webinars on the Mindjet website where MindManager is used instead of PowerPoint. Check out the Jamie Nast webinar for instance: http://www.mindjet.com/about...
- Michael Deutch
Scott - Mindjet integrates with our own Gantt product (http://twurl.nl/q7epy7), Microsoft Project, or a variety of others. You can see some of the other project related partner solutions here: http://twurl.nl/ypvyii

I LOVE this and have the perfect project to map this weekend. I have a focus issue and maybe I ought to use this software that has been sitting there feeling rejected for like 2 years, I think. I've attempted to use it about 3 times and freaked out and closed it. OK, I'm going to the video for help, wish me luck. Oh, I wonder if MindMaps can be published online?
- Sheree Motiska
Sheree: they can be, through a variety of methods.
- Robert Scoble
I got super amped on MM 2 years ago, used it every day for projects, then I kind of stopped. I found I did not return to the work that often and it would drift out. This is not a criticism, I just brainstorm on 3x5 cards faster now and then move to UI apps or whatever. But MM is definitely the best app. Even though we are in a web 2.x world, this workflow works best in desktop apps then pushed to web for collaboration. Hope I can slowly return to mapping in it again.
- Mark
Impressed that you hand-coded the capturing, I wouldn't know where to start

We're honored to be your first guinea pig for the screencasting :) You should do this often.
- Ethan Gahng

Hi Louis Thanks for the heads up about Lazyfeed. I have tried to register but it needs an invitation code. Can you or anyone in your network please let me know what I should put in? Thanks
- Jane Finch
Very well done, I now have a better understanding of how it works. Anymore invites? Thanks
- Mo Hall
why doesn't Lazyfeed have a feed for FF?
- Thomas Power
Thomas, Lazyfeed's founders are just now getting to understand FriendFeed better. Maybe with time.
- Louis Gray
LazyFeed looks great.! Thanks for this video Louis, super interesting (I like your fast pace too). Would love an invite if you have 1.
- Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
Hi, thanks everyone for your interest in Lazyfeed. We are excited to tell you that we will be releasing more invite codes via Twitter today. To receive your invite, please follow @lazyfeed on twitter and we will DM you an invite code. This invitation will expire midnight PST. Thank you!
- Lazyfeed
I will have to check this out. I admit that the point of it was not immediately obvious the first few times I used it.
- Bill Kinney
Louis, thanks for this wonderful quick tutorial. I am off to experimenting with Lazyfeed now. I wonder how you use it in conjunction with GReader, since I also find you sharing lot of stuff on GReader as well.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Awesome demo, finally got a chance to watch it.
- Bill Kinney
Love lazyfeed so far, but it won't connect with my Twitter acct even after I set up and click connect - only Flicr, etc..Anyone else have this issue.
- Liza
Liza - I've just tried connecting your twitter to my lazyfeed and it seems to be successfully bringing tags like lazyweb, trip, techkaraoke, etc. Please try again. Thanks.
- Ethan Gahng
Now that is GREAT customer service, Ethan. Thanks.. I want to learn more about lazyweb and ppl interacting from lazyfeed. Seeing it from my google dev friends. Any ideas?
- Liza
I recently switched from NetNewsWire to Google Reader.. It's nice to not worry about syncing.

I Had been on a microsoft Office fast for the past 4 months, I only use online Apps like Evernote, and Google Docs, FluidApp has revolutionized all of that even More! I now Just have Google Docs on my desktop, along with GETDROPBOX.COM for my Online storage (2gigs free!) Seriously I am doing more and more ministry in "the cloud"
- Ryan Smith
i use evernote to "scan" documents i need at work that are already in "paper" form. beats me running to the xerox machine and scanning them via email to my comp. plus i can email them straight from my phone. just emailed my boss the staff cellphone list today that he couldn't find but was sitting in my evernote app.
- Tyler Gillies
I use google docs, friendfeed and evernote. Currently trying to figure out how to best use Tumblr.
- michael mcminn
Justin, me too. I've started using gmail after outlook crashed on me one last time a couple weeks ago. My company is moving all our policies and procedures onto Google Docs. I'm considering moving from a desktop RSS reader to Google Reader, but haven't made the move yet.
- Paul Steinbrueck
or stop using an "rss reader" and import your rss feeds into a private/semi private group. i haven't opened up google reader once since i started using friendfeed heavily.
- Tyler Gillies
Yes. I love using all of those. I am enjoying Evernote more and more
- John Snyder
Wow. This is a great discussion going on here... Tyler, how do you "scan" stuff via evernote? The only app that I can find that does OCR stuff is JotNot... But it seems buggy.
- Justin Wise
A friend of mine mentioned that the new iPhone 3GS has a macro mode that really helps scanning documents up close into Evernote. I could be wrong, but I believe that's what he said. Have the 3G here.
- Gabe Taviano
Tyler- with FF as an RSS reader, what do you do to "star" items to come back to later, or send (email) items to ppl who don't use FF?
- Justin
I love Google Calendar, Remember the Milk, and Evernote!! They all sync so nicely with my BlackBerry 8900 and I don't have 50,000 little scraps of paper anymore.
- Justin
