I haven't had a chance to use the eSATA port on the unit. All the PCI slots on my G5 are full & no PCI eSATA adapter for my MBP.

My 1password icon on my G5 running 10.5.8 keeps disappearing. I have to re add it every now & then. Is this normal for PPC Macs?

Yes there is a way to make Time Machine not backup certain files & delete past backups of those files. That's all you can do though
