"Actor Denis O'Hare may eventually return to HBO's True Blood, he told The Hollywood Reporter before the New York edition of the WGA Awards Saturday night. "I left them on a high. They have been very, very nice to me, and they tell me that they think I'm going to come back," he said about the possibility of a return of his character Russell Edgington, the flamboyant vampire king, to the show. "And I'm waiting. We'll see what happens." What would the storyline be? "Someone discussed a possible idea with me, which, of course, I can't tell you," O'Hare said. "But it's a very cool idea. It's not far fetched, but it's not something that you would see coming.""

"We are still many months away from the debut of the 4th season of True Blood on HBO but today we get our very first look at what’s in store for the upcoming new season. In season one we got vampires. In season two, we got shapeshifters. In season three, we got werewolves. Apparently, in season four we get witches. Casting A New Spell Unfortch, this new teaser trailer doesn’t really show us much … actually, it barely teases at all … but still, it’s a start. In no time at all the real promo materials will be unleashed and then … a whole new season of True Blood. Are you ready already?"

"How is Season 4 going for True Blood? WOOD: Of course, I can’t tell you anything that happens. What will this season be like, in general? WOOD: Honestly, I don’t know. I’ve only done one episode, so I have no idea. But, they always outdo themselves, every year. What’s it like to be back on the set? WOOD: It’s been great. It’s one of the funnest sets I’ve ever worked on, actually. There’s just always something crazy happening, and lots of blood. How tortured will Queen Sophie-Anne be this season? WOOD: Oh, I think she’ll get what she deserves."

Have you had any scenes with any of the new female cast members? WOOD: Not...

I'm hoping Sophie-Anne gets knocked off in S04E01.
- jbrotherlove
I'm still pissed at how radically they changed her character from the books. Sophie-Anne in the books was really quite awesome because you didn't realize she was a complete nutter until long after things started rolling. You just believed her to be this child queen who rules with quiet strength and sophistication.

"Will Denis O'Hare be back on the new season True Blood? It sure sounds like it because sources tell me that there will be a big storyline in which we see vampire attacks on YouTube—which is classic Russell Edgington, no? However, it turns out it's not Russell, but rather an underground filmmaker who is capturing various vamps on video and then posting on YouTube for the world to see. Needless to say, this is not going to improve relations between the bloodsuckers and conservatives of the True Blood world. As for Denis, I'm told he is expected back at some point but so far no concrete plans (i.e. contract) in place. Might be another season or two."

I did the first season of VP and the first ep of the second season to see how the cliffhanger resolved itself. I think it made me too goofy to watch them so fast. True Blood, for me, has more eye candy and more sex appeal to it. Looking forward to it's return.

"“True Blood’s” budget may be dedicated largely to fake vital fluids, but at least the show will be saving on wardrobe costs again this year. Actor Sam Trammell, who plays bar owner/shapeshifter Sam Merlotte on HBO’s fang-fest, says the show’s about to go back into production, and based on his look at the first few scripts he’ll be working without clothes again right off the bat. Just how soon will Sam be getting naked? “Immediately,” he tells PopcornBiz. “Yeah, I won't be eating anything for Thanksgiving at all.”"

"Courtney Ford (Dexter) has snagged a recurring role in TRUE BLOOD‘s upcoming season. Deadline reports that Ford will play blundering detective Andy’s (Chris Bauer) sister Portia Bellefleur, an attorney with her own practice. There are few details about the role, and while Portia is important to the Bill-Sookie relationship in Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire mysteries, that may very well not be the case on True Blood given creator Alan Ball’s willingness to deviate from the source material. In addition to playing Christine Hill on Dexter, Ford has also recently appeared in Human Target, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and The Vampire Diaries. This bit of casting news comes soon after it was announced that Fiona Shaw would be joining the cast in the regular role of Marnie, the timid medium who falls under the control of a witch. The twelve episode fourth season of True Blood will air on HBO next summer."

"Most Americans who recognize Ryan Kwanten probably know him as Jason Stackhouse, the gleefully clueless, frequently shirtless womanizer from the hit series “True Blood.” But moviegoers who turn up for the gritty, western-tinged thriller “Red Hill,” which opens Friday in limited release, will not only see a very different side of the actor than the one he displays on the raunchy vampire soap opera, they’ll hear one too. To give voice to the character of Shane Cooper, a young city cop who relocates to a small town with his pregnant wife after being shot in the line of duty, Kwanten speaks with his native Australian accent rather than Jason’s convincing Louisiana drawl. “Americans in general are very surprised,” Kwanten says of the reactions to his real voice."

"“Red Hill” marks the first time Kwanten has been home to Australia to work in eight years, and over a midmorning café mocha in Culver City, the actor said he was excited to play Cooper — a part that director Patrick Hughes wrote for him — because the character is the “moral compass of the film” and so different from the heroes that usually populate big-screen adventures. “He’s a...

So for you die-hard fans, I think we can guess what's going to happen to our favorite flaxen Viking. * Andy's sister, Portia, is as easy on the eyes as she is sharp in the courtroom. And, since I hear possible portrayers have to be cool with nude scenes, we're gonna get an eyeful. * Naomi is an Asian-American cage fighter who, outside of the ring…er, cage…is hot-'n'-heavy with one of her female competitors. My hunch is that, driven away by brother Sam, Tommy starts putting up his dukes for money instead of his paws. * Queen Mab is an elegant beauty who presides over a fantasy land that sounds a lot like the fairy domain into which Sookie (Anna Paquin) keeps being pulled. "Last night was the season finale of True Blood, so was it a spine-ripping good time? Sorta. There was a lot of good, and a lot of bad. But let's break it down Pro/Con style. All in all, I left this episode feeling satisfied but not as excited for the next season as I should be. Maybe because the cliffhangers weren't anything we've really been invested in this season. Or perhaps it's because The King of Mississippi is seemingly off the show? Was it a bad True Blood episode? No, it wasn't. But it didn't feel like a season finale. Still, there was still plenty of charred vampire face to go around."

Dear Alan Ball: Just when we've forgiven you for the egg-licking, chest-piercing, disastrous season 2 finale, you foist THIS crap on us. HOW could you screw this up? You have BOOKS to follow, for god's sake!
The worst part is, all of this could have been avoided had someone not been so freaking eager to drag storylines from way into the future into this season. It was just subplot overload, and it made it hard to care about too many things. Ball needs to go back to having one season per book in the series. It worked for season 1 and 2 (although the Maenad storyline didn't need to be expanded the way it had been. Jesus that was terrible). Why he chose to deviate for S3 is beyond me.
- Hookuh Tinypants
That being said, Dennis O'Hare and his take on Russell Edgington was the best thing ever. Too bad Ball screwed up the character of Sophie-Anne by not only writing her to be terrible, but casting a shitty actress in the role. I loved the Sophie-Anne in the books, especially the way her storyline worked in with Russell's.
- Hookuh Tinypants
The fairy stuff is not strong. And I'm still suspect of the witch stuff but everything else in this episode was great. I'm bummed about the cliffhanger finale though. Moar episodes now please.

"After Sunday night's episode of "True Blood," it's becoming immensely clear that not all of the storylines the show is spinning are going to come to closure points by the end of the season or tie together in any way, shape or form. The question, then, becomes whether the individual storylines were entertaining enough to keep the show afloat or whether you think the lack of cohesion has fatally damaged this season. I realize I should pick a side in this fight, but I think this season has been the best for "True Blood" while simultaneously being the worst. The main plot has been riveting throughout, helped out by splitting up Sookie and Bill and giving them each compelling plot threads and by casting Dennis O'Hare as the villain. Any time one of those three or Eric was on screen, the season has been terrific, more or less."

"So roughly half of any given episode this season has been the worst this series has ever been. I've found the Sam stuff and the Jessica/Hoyt stuff very solid. The Arlene stuff and the Jason/crystal stuff is uneven. The lafayettte/Jesus stuff has lost some of it's lustre and losing Franklin and the wolves a few episodes ago has been a bigger loss than anticipated. Hell, allied didn't even get to participate in the big wolf fight at sookie's house. But Russell makes me forgive all that.
- Jason Toney
I think Tara's turned a corner post-Franklin. I don't love the character (or the actress) but I appreciate the journey she's taken this season. Her scenes in the last episode were really good.
- Jason Toney
For me it has been more hit than miss; I've enjoyed most of it. The Jason story line, Jesus & Lafayette's 'better relationship through V,' along with Sam being an asshole are the only things I've just really disliked and even they've had great moments along the way. I don't need each season to neatly wrap up everything happening as long as there's some plot resolution.
- Jennifer Dittrich
Can someone explain the limits of genetic inheritance to Arlene? Was hoping that if the baby survived the back-alley abortion, she would accept it as "meant to be." Her expression seemed to indicate otherwise though.

The world of True Blood is somewhat striking for its attempts at realism, where vampires lobby for legal protection and drink synthetic blood substitutes. There are probably many like Arlene with irrational fears in the real world too ;)

"Everyone is talking about last night's big reveal. So what happened? Well the supernatural fairy was let out of the werekitty bag. We now all know what Sookie is (besides awful). Let's be honest. Nothing was going to top last week's conclusion. Nothing. But this week tried with werekitties, V-trips, and lots of good Pam one-liners. But besides the great postmortem, this episode really felt like it was just trying to get us to the end. We're all still holding our breath for the big fight between the King of Mississippi and everyone else. But one thing was revealed, Sookie is a fairy. Yeah, I'm not necessarily excited about it either. But why don't we let the Pros and Cons be the REAL judge. Pro: Sookie having the same reaction to her big "what is Sookie" reveal. How fucking lame, indeed."
- RAPatton
"Pro: "Blah blah Vampire emergency blah blah blah." Once again Pam has the most common sense out of everyone on the show. Let's use Sookie to save our lives. Yes. Pro: Russell Edgington is back, carrying around the gooey remains of his lover and picking up ass in the cutest way possible. "Are you looking for someone special?" "Found it!" Pro: How Russell walks away after the deal has been made with his new friend. From now on, whenever I pick up hooker on the street, this is how I will walk away."
- RAPatton
"Pro: Hoyt throws down. Like we knew he would. I don't think there is any other "this will never happen to you" romantic scenario that we've wanted more in the whole world. The whole thing is perfect. Pro: Bill gets pushed out of Jason's house like Dorothy Gale in the tornado when Jason revokes his invitation. Con: Were-puma. Nope. Not doing it."
- RAPatton
"Blah blah Vampire emergency blah blah blah" is maybe the best True Blood line ever.

He’s from a different place and he spoke many different languages before he landed in America and started speaking English. If you were a vampire before the Revelation, you had to hide, so he would fit in and adapt to the culture, adopt a new name and take on their accent and language. But, who he really is, is somebody much deeper and darker. In the show, sometimes I’ll come out with a German dialect. That’s one of his personas that he had the longest. His real identity is an ancient Celt who was a druid Pagan from the Carpathian mountains, but he probably lived in Middle Europe from about 300 or 400 A.D. until about 1300 A.D., so his language would have been a Germanic form. He’s had this massive history.”"
