What. The. Fuck?! This is pathetic. Embarrassing! Inexcusable! I know people, even security people, are often unaccustomed to thinking in terms of information security. But this is so far beyond the pale, I don't even know what to say. They knew about this for ten years because it was known to have been exploited in Bosnia, and they thought they could just assume nobody would be doing that this time? I don't even have words for how insanely stupid that is!

While this sounds very exciting (and I would love to see this confirmed true), this is still just another in a long line of attempts to reconcile relativity with quantum mechanics, and it seems far too early to be celebrating the replacement of relativity just quite yet. But I mostly want to take issue with one quote near the end, where another physicist refers to communicating information faster than the speed of light as "unwanted side effects". Excuse me, but that wouldn't be unwanted, that would be the biggest perk of all, if it turned out to be true! (I know, it's a big if, and that's the problem.) The speed limit set by light dooms us to our own solar system for all practical purposes. The more we learn about the rest of the universe, the more dismaying it is to know that no amount of technological advancement is ever likely to allow us to explore even our nearest stellar neighbors. But if we can start to find ways around the limit of the speed of light, then there's at least...
