I recently bought my iPhone 3G from AT&T (I wanted to wait for the Pre or the G1, but I'm stuck with AT&T for a FamilyPlan, so I was limited) and I'm fine with it. That being said, as an openSUSE user, I want something compatible with my OS.

Ahron: Politics does effect you in the real world... from healthcare, to schools (I go to a public school in the U.S.), to infrastructure. Politics determines how these things are handled. Now religion in a whole different thing. I agree, so much time and energy is wasted is aruging over religious beliefs and it's stupid. Religion is personal, I hate when people argue about it.

Ahron - my belief is that your beliefs are your beliefs as long as you don't impose on the rights or will of others. If by 'harmful beliefs' you mean something you disagree with, then they should be protected. If you mean actually harmful to another person, then yes, something must be done.

We as a society can not give a free pass for those who believe in imaginary tales and creatures that are not even possible. This is seriously holding us back. So many people are afraid to openly say what they know is true because our society protects the few who really believe in religion. But thanks to the internet atheists are seeing that they are not alone, and many of us are coming out of the closet to help everyone progress.

Ahron: let me say this: religious believers believe that you are dead wrong and they are completely right. Atheists believe that you are completely right and the religious are dead wrong. In my eyes, they're both the same. And their beliefs are fine with me, as long as they're not fighting and protesting each other. I personally have no clue: maybe God is real, maybe he's not. I really don't care, because I believe we have bigger issues to work toward solving in this world. And if it's a belief in religion that's guiding one toward solving those problems, or if it's a belief in simply helping others, I don't care, as long as we're all doing our part :-)

The difference is atheists believe in solid facts and are open to changing their world view. Religious believe in things that are totally insane and impossible. its really not comparable at all if you look at it without bias. maybe the flying spaghetti monster is real and he will rape me after i die if i don't eat meatballs every day. but i don't eat meat balls everyday, because that it totally insane.

Ahron - I'm glad you got it working! Maybe the ad blocker in the Webkit browser is less draconian about blocking flash, or your Webkit browser doesn't have ad blocking.

Speaking of Webkit browsers, I'm really enjoying VanillaSurf on the iPod Touch, great tabbed browser, better overall than Safari IMHO. My default for actual usage (Apple automatically & permanently sets Safari as it's default browser.)

Arch Linux is really nice, but dosent get enough publicity. ITs a rolling release system so you are always running the latest versions of packages without waiting for release cycles like suse.

AT&T depends on where you are. I have driving from Seattle to Tucson and never lost a signal. Even in the desert. But in San Francisco they have trouble downtown.

ultimitly these companys will fail unless they embrace open source and openess when it comes to all their software. OSS will easily suprass them in the long run and their will be no other opion but failure. But what apple does to OSS software pisses me off. They are total jerks and rarely give back, they only use OSS because their developers suck.

Yeah I did not upgrade last year since they released the same phone with 3G and I was not impressed and knew If I upgraded I would not get better price later. AT&T let upgraders get lower price last year only because they were upgrading to more expensive 3G Service. They have no incentive to do that this time for existing 3G owners. My short list was 32gig model and video.

The only reason the converter box's which should cost $15.00 cost $50.00 is because of the stupid coupons so the retailers have no incentive to charge cheaper. This would be OK if the government had enough coupons for people who need them but they left allot of low income people in the lurch.

Nope. There is a TWIT.am app for the iPhone that works fine. I got along with a 4gig iPhone for two years. The new 16gig will be fine.

Leo: I'm curious... could you do an experiment? iPhone has a 3.5" screen, Pre has a 3.1" screen... same resolution. The math says if you hold the Pre at 16" it'll look to be the same size as the iPhone at 18". If you hold them so that the screens are the same size, is there any diff in quality?
