I wish Hulu had more content and less restrictions, though its more the networks than Hulu. If all of BSG (mini-series to season 4) was on Hulu you wouldn't see me for a week
- Daniel
Ralph - there are several shows on hulu that I would like to watch that take ages to come over the UK
- Iain
I guess Leo stopped using the Stickam comment system.
- Tokyo Dan
Hulu needs to realize a screen is a screen, and it doesn't matter what device is feeding it.
- Ken Sheppardson
@Jamie I haven't heard of project Kangaroo.. but judging by the tense you used its no longer about?
- ralphsaunders
Friendfeed integration on live.twit.tv is great
- Rod Bauer
Hulu is the future, eventually data will be a utility for me to do with what I please and I will watch what I want and when I want to watch it
- Daniel
@ralph it was shut down by the comeptition commission. it was essentially a collaboration between the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV... and the CC ruled that it would stifle competition in video content creation
- Jamie
It went down right after I clicked this link "http://beta.friendfeed.com/twi... - Ken Sheppardson " It brought the whole FF site up in that little comment window.
- Tokyo Dan
Interesting that its most recently that we've been seeing more news on this sort of thing. Between the malware in the power grid, these fiber sabatoges, and the Chinese GhostNet (Security Now had a great ep on it), its certainly been an interesting cluster of seemingly related events.
- Curtis Schweitzer
Do the MAE-West/Central/East exchanges still serve as the critical aggregation that they used to?
- Ken Sheppardson
If friendfeed had a way to automatically make imaginary friends for all your twiiter contacts that aren't on FF then I'd probably stop going to twitter.
- Ghworg
someone here has to hack the confiker bot net and then ddos micky :p
- Sander
ghworg, you can, but have to add the feeds manually too it
- Chris Heath
agreed ghworg. or at least simply implement a full client access into the site. so that all of your tweets come into FF.
- Jamie
I hear the sound of lawyer, writing down everything that John just said
- Kim Landwehr
a way to fight terms of service - people have wanted to do this for awhile haven't they?
- Xenophrenia
it's standard phising. did it in high school and got everybody's itslearning accounts. basically just edit all the /dir/dir/ to http://twitter.com/dir/dir in the code and implement it. change the user and password boxes scripts to save input and then redirect to twitter.com,
- Jackson Pollock
ralph; en.wikipedia.org/Jackson_Pollock think again.
- Jackson Pollock
that would be tough, as the real JP is dead
- Phil Essing
phil; yeah, there's the small hole in the whole thing
- Jackson Pollock
throwing paint at a wall has never been the same since
- Phil Essing
is it not a problem that the api of twitter is so open? I mean cant they do something about it? like first mail to them and then have acces to the api??
- Sander
phil; don't disrespect. pollock was arguably the best american artist of the 20th century.
- Jackson Pollock
The more you tighten your grip the more customers will slip through your fingers.
- Ghworg
i would agree that he was arguably the best artist of the 20th century... and I would be on the side of the argument that says he was not
- Phil Essing
"BREAKING NEWS: Steve Jobs continues to do exactly what he said he was going to do while on medical leave. MUST CREDIT WSJ." - lol @ Gruber. Perfectly put.
- Jamie
It wasn't an official statement about Jobs. It was a leak
- Keith Makuck
I'm telling you Jobs is working on the iPub for the Apple campus, Schilller Shots and Jonathan Ive is almost finished crafting the iPint Glass
- Lewis
yeah ghworg, but i can still wish for it
- Chris Heath
and the dance between yahoo and microsoft starts again, its like a soap opera that never ends
- Kim Landwehr
Steve or no Steve. The person running the actual strategy and product development; the identity of Apple, is Jonathan Ive. Steve's entire success can be traced back to Ive' strategy and methodology. Steve and Jony talk once a day. He introduced Apple to the few products - fewer products that has been so successful. As an industrial designer, he changed the way Steve looked at products, materials, process. The white plastic cover of the Ipod, the scroll wheel click, the aluminium unibody.
- Jackson Pollock
Beats me Matthew, one day they were, and then the next they weren't. I have to manually refresh threads now.
- Bwana ☠
Microsoft should acquire Yahoo...merge with Time Warner...run all online growth under TIME brand...Microsoft and Yahoo focus on Tech and Time Warner focus on content and style... THE front window of the future...imho
- Jan Simmonds
Is the rest of Twit.Tv acting slow for anyone?
- Mike Vierow
Bwana: If you're paused on the main site, i'll bet everything pauses
- Ken Sheppardson
So let me refresh to see what you all said.
- Bwana ☠
the ads aren't too bad most of the time though cause it’s the gang talking about ti most of the time and it makes it interesting and involving.
- Daniel
They'll release it as soon as they can get it ready. They're not gaming the release data around iPhone.
- Ken Sheppardson
I popped my sim card in my blackberry pearl and my nokia e61... felt like I traveled back in time :)
- Bwana ☠
those 1st Gen iPhone users are coming to the end of their contracts in June. Its Palms best chance
- Jamie
ken, i use the twitlive air app (still on stickam) ... i've been nonplussed by the bg player so far
- Chris Heath
Howard Stern was granted a private viewing with Palm of the Pre. For an hour and a half he used it, and then passed on it for a Blackberry. He did get the impression that it would be coming out in May, but not worth waiting.
- Jackson Pollock
What's the point? They're all to expensive for me anyway.
- Mike Vierow
Jackson: What I heard was as soon as he found out the Pre won't support Lotus Notes (which he needs) he punted.
- Ken Sheppardson
Howard Stern got a Blackberry because he uses Lotus Notes and niether the Palm Pre or iPhone have great Lotus notes support compared to the Blackberry
- Matthew
ralphsaunders: for most probably the "it's not an iphone"...
- Holger Eilhard
Ken; that wasn't it. it just didn't do anything special. iphone has the browser, the podcasting. Blackberry the lotus notes and the keyboard. The Pre really didn't have anything.
- Jackson Pollock
@ralphsaunders the apps, overall ease of use, etc. are more important than a physical keyboard for me...
- Holger Eilhard
The pre is all about the web, the idea is to sync with the cloud not the desktop. A bad idea in my opinion, but we'll see
- Ghworg
let's be honest. what made the iphone more successful than the others; 1. the design and interaction. 2. the brand and buzz. 3. the marketing and news
- Jackson Pollock
what is the delicious url for this show?
- Xenophrenia
i'm hoping that android will be mature in a year and a half when my iphone contract is up... i'll check in on the phone wars then and no sooner
- Chris Heath
Jamie - Thats pay as you go which is a total rip off anyway
- Iain
Jackson: In Germany 99 percent of cellphone users I know have voicemail enabled
- Holger Eilhard
I think also in the UK its become very fashionable between (and i hate to use this phrase) the lower class to have the latest phone so that also boosts the market.
- ralphsaunders
I agree Jamie... to facebook deffinately... the more 'plugged in' group of my friends have also moved to twitter although that is a small minority
- ralphsaunders
Holger; Americans expect a box that answers the number they are calling, and that they can leave a message there
- Jackson Pollock
gunther there's a block go to their page and block (next to subscribe)
- Chris Heath
Yeah I can see twitter being next. I think I might get into user interface development in that area... it might become profitable for a short while :P
- ralphsaunders
i'm on roadrunner, and it's fine for now... no cap - afaik if they change the plans it will only affect new subscribers - i'd be grandfathered in
- Chris Heath
Jamie its only a few hours of xbox live play if your the host
- ralphsaunders
didnt know hosting was so bandwidth intensive..
- Jamie
some people can't afford 150 a month and use that much
- Xenophrenia
How is IPTV going to succeed with this. it's an enormous roadblock
- Jackson Pollock
I don't want to go back to how it was on dial-up when I had a clock by the side of the computer so I didn't spend too much time online and get a huge bill
- Ghworg
Jamie: By definition it's bandwidth intensive :) Hosting = Bandwidth
- Eric Florenzano
Limits cause people to be more conservative in their usage. They will be less likely to try new things, like streaming video.
- Ghworg
Ghworg: Compuserve used to charge by the time and they had a big clock on the top right corner of the app. You could set it to kick you off after a certain duration.
- Eric Florenzano
they are trying to protect their cable tv and prohibit online tv and video
- Xenophrenia
Sure this isn't just a ploy to get people to lock down their Wifi?
- Jackson Pollock
router firmware is the place to put the meter... or even better on the cable modem... then you could check on your account page for the isp
- Chris Heath
$75 bucks a month is a better price for the top tier.
- archaictree
jackson lots of ppl are locking down their wifi here... it's hard for me to get an open ap these days
- Chris Heath
most routers come out of the box locked down
- Jamie
with all media going to the internet, bandwidth caps are going to limit a lot of what you can do
- Matthew
If people have limited bandwidth, they'll put a password on the Wifi and force their neighbors to get their own line.
- Jackson Pollock
they are having an issue with people cancelling their cable and keeping internet and watching their video online ... that's what they are trying to stop
- Xenophrenia
It would be awesome if FriendFeed could figure out how to link an IRC server to FriendFeed conversations. Each conversation could get its own channel.
- Jesse Stay
Here's a request; get the videos of the old episodes hosted. the best twit's by far were 21, 23, 24, and so on, and they were filmed but are no longer hosted. people would love them, but Leo is holding them back, get them out there!
- Jackson Pollock
I like that the bitgravity feed lets you pause and resume without missing anything like the others do.
- Jeff
my favourite was the one after Apple announced the move to Intel.
- Jamie
Jamie; if you read the twit wiki, I listed all the taped live shows, but many are missing hosting, and those who aren't are bad quality mostly. get them really hosted
- Jackson Pollock
actually I think it was the Tech Guy - Leo had John come on to talk about the move to Intel. John said it was a great move, Leo said Apple would die (something like that!)
- Jamie
Jamie; yes that is true. However, early TWiT, the first episode with John on. (I'll check, but around 10) Leo played that interview
- Jackson Pollock
And for those interested. Episodes 15-19 are the best shows they ever made. The I get no spam thing started there, Revision3 early beginning, Kevin talks about first Diggnation shows and so on. Very very very funny.
- Jackson Pollock
I remember listening to them at the time. literally recall when John first said he gets no spam and I think Leo just died laughing
- Jamie
My dad told me he got no spam and then i showed him his spam box :P
- ralphsaunders
Jamie; it was a Steve Gibson - John thing. Steve turned off HTML emails and John yelled at him, saying he got NO SPAM what so ever, with HTML. Steve and John work fantastic together
- Jackson Pollock
yeah John said he had this setup from a friend right?
- Jamie
ralph; sell your pc. if you want to run a program like final cut, a cheap pc won't work. apple is expensive yes, but thats what's needed 90% of the time
- Jackson Pollock
uhhhhh that needs to be Leo's avatar
- Chad DeHaan
I would build my own PC... I'm not stupid :D. But the Apple side of things I think is a bit much for me. It will probably go on a student loan when i go to uni
- ralphsaunders
I thought you didn't have to pay it off till u started earning above a certain amoutn
- ralphsaunders
Gunther; until you want to update it; then you have to format. It's cool in theory, but it does not work. Every update breaks your OS. 10.5 is one download, 10.5.1 is one, and so on. you have to tailor the build for each version. doesn't work
- Jackson Pollock
walt they're going to talk about the diggbar next week
- Chris Heath
they give you a year... then if you earn above £15k you start paying it back. the more you earn the more you pay. I expect them to take out £90 from my salary this month
- Jamie
Although my prefered fields + a few others "User interface designers can make about $86,000 on average each year. Package designers can earn an average annual salary of $82,000." ... although idk if I want to do that full time yet
- ralphsaunders
Has anyone tried iCloud OS? It's an online operating system.
- Mike Vierow
Jackson: I just don't find him funny. He seems like a smart guy--he should try to do a serious show maybe.
- Eric Florenzano
Oh man, a TWiT meetup for Star Trek would be awesome.
- Eric Florenzano
He's of the Jim Carrey school of broadcasting. But people forget that Carrey is a standup, just being loud and screaming doesn't work
- Jackson Pollock
Plus the show is repeating right now, so it's appropriate
- Ken Sheppardson
This experiment prompted some feedback to Paul RE how they could make embedding easier.
- Ken Sheppardson
we're about to go mac mini system at home - would love to hear your tips - and ps love the dog's name - given that I'm an Aussie by choice - love ya leo
- Linda Johannesson
