Audible pick of the week: Freedom (TM) by Daniel Suarez http://www.audible.com/adbl... Sequel to Daemon (which we recommended back in Episode 99, March 2009) "In the opening chapters of Freedom, the Daemon is firmly in control, using an expanded network of real-world, dispossessed darknet operatives to tear apart civilization and rebuild it anew. Soon civil war breaks out in the American Midwest, in a brutal wave of violence that becomes known as the Corn Rebellion. Former detective Pete Sebeck, now the Daemon's most powerful - though reluctant - operative, must lead a small band of enlightened humans toward a populist movement designed to protect the new world order. But the private armies of global business are preparing to crush the Daemon once and for all."

And one more thing: The Apple iDud For the first time in a while, Apple has not exceeded expectations for a new product. The iPad is not a new product category at all. It is Apple doing two things: Milking its iTunes ecosystem with a non-necessary device. And following in the footsteps of others to develop a device that sits between the smart phone and the notebook computer (i.e. is Apple's netbook or smartbook alternative). This product is not particularly interesting because it doesn't solve any problems and doesn't offer a single thing that is unique beyond existing products. I'll review it. But the hype was completely unjustified and everyone who participated in that needs to apologize to their readers.
