for me the pleasure of the immediate new now stands in second place to let's wait til they get the bugs out and then buy one - Gregory Lent
I have the new MacBook and mine seems to be working fine. The only issue I am coming across is picking up good wireless signals and staying connected. Are you having this issue? - Luke
No problems at all. I use the new trackpad the exact same way i used the old one. Thumb at bottom to click. - Andru Edwards
It looks like it may only be iPods. Which is disappointing to me. I was looking forward to Mac news. - Mathew Ballard
I jet hope they don't launch a 32gb or higher iPhone. Then I will be sorry I didn't wait. :( - Jon Price
@Jon I have it form a reliable source that they are a ways from having a 32GB or higher iPhone. It has to do with how much room is available within the chassis of the iPhone. With the extra things required for cellphone their isn't enough room available for the two flash ram chips needed for 32GB. - Mathew Ballard
I'll upgrade to the iPhone 3G when they have a 32GB model and official support for tethering. Otherwise, I'll wait for the next generation which will hopefully have better battery life. - Rick Huizinga
@Rick I was wanting to wait until a 32GB. But, I don't think it will happen for a couple more years. Plus the battery will have to be improved greatly before I could use it as my iPod and phone. - Mathew Ballard
Is there a line in Vegas where we can bet to see if KRose is right in his predictions? I have 5 bucks saying he is right this time. - Mike L
My bet is still that they're getting rid of hard drive based iPods and replacing them with bigger (32gb or maybe even 64gb) iPod Touch - Adewale Oshineye

"Tragedy narrowly averted when a man rushed a prominent blogger today brandishing a gun and a resume. The attacker became distracted when a breeze blew his cover letter into a local diner during their bacon-fest breakfast promotion. Police arrived and took the man into custody..." - David Knight
“FriendFeed request of the evening: It would be *awesome* to integrate "Likes" as endorsements on social sites. As in if I like a Reddit story on FF, it should upvote on Reddit. Or on Digg. Or on SU. Cool idea, eh? :)”
it's a cool idea, but I hope they don't do it. FriendFeed will be consumed by bloggers looking for traffic. I think that has a bad net effect. - Robert Seidman
Good point. There are always ways to abuse the system. :( - Tamar Weinberg
How about granting this right for established FFeres? Trust reward system? - Igor The Troll
That's actually a better idea. I see a few people who just use FF to establish their presence (and score their username before someone else does) but they never engage, which was a gripe of mine earlier this week. Active engagement should be rewarded. Just liking things (without commenting) might be overkill. The middle ground would make more sense and I think it can still be purely democratic (as to who can participate). - Tamar Weinberg
I'd just like to figure out how to squirt RSS into a room... - Michael Moran
even if they can't be fully integrated, support to Digg, vote etc would be ideal. There's no reason why it couldn't be done for Digg, they have a fairly liberal and open API - Duncan Riley
@Duncan - AFAIK the Digg api is read only. I'm pretty sure that it is. - Yuvi (has IRL friends!)
Obviously the other site would have to support voting in its API. This could be very powerful, but the question is how to prove a human is voting when all it takes is an API call. - Vezquex இ
It makes sense so that there won't be dupes of the same story - one for the like on FF, and one for the vote on the website.. Huge room for abuse though.. - embee
tamar: sorry was busy, same basic reason that robert mentioned above, ff will just become yet another traffic boasting platform to game and the noise will make it unusable - today ff is a great presence aggregation tool (i subscribe to you and all your services) plus a good follow on communication mechanism (this thread) - like's don't mean that much and that's a good thing, not much to game - i really like the purity of focus from a start-up perspective that the ff team has kept to - mike "glemak" dunn
tamar: one more thing, the /friendfeed-feedback room is the best place to leave suggestions for the ff team regarding suggestions or bugs - i've reshared this thread there so others who like to see and comment on these sorts of things can participate :) - mike "glemak" dunn
You certainly have legitimate concerns. It may work to entertain a possible democratic way of getting trusted individuals whose votes would actually weigh something, whereas others (who are here for the sheer reason of abuse) don't. I guess that it's wishful thinking, though. - Tamar Weinberg
Tamar -- as a startup, I don't think FriendFeed should have entertaining "a democratic way of getting trusted individuals" on its radar. "It seems easily doable", is much easier in theory than in practice. it gets very complex, very fast and figuring it out and becomes a distraction that takes away from creating the best aggregation/social information service. I'm not just a little against it at this juncture, but very, very opposed to them even thinking about this : ) - Robert Seidman
a pull down menu for all types of bookmarks, votes and shares would be great and would save a lot of time for people. ...and what the hell is wrong with bloggers looking for traffic. aren't we all trying to speak out? - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
In addition to the gaming abuse, Noah, what you describe is exactly the reason why I'm against it. Everyone will quite naturally want to use it as a time saver to drive traffic to their websites. That would become the primary usage of FriendFeed. I understand that some wouldn't mind this at all, but believe many would. - Robert Seidman
so the reason you came here is because you wanted a community? I doubt it. we all came because we saw the sharing possibility. the community is an afterthought - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
the woods. was clearing it out with my shirt and was stupid enough to put my shirt back on. kind of was my girl's fault. she was hysterical... because she is afraid of dogs and I got distracted - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ

I don't have any normal skin. like a burn victim. I have to type this naked... I don't know if tea tree oil is expensive or not because my mother bought it for me and just gave me guilt about it. hard to know. she is still pissed at me because she hates my girlfriend. two hysterical women in my life... my mother, my girl... enough to make a guy like me crazy enough to screw up. it isn't considered violence for women to get hysterical, but when they do I always hurt myself - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
my girl and I can't see each other all the time. so when we do we get a little carried away. We were up all night partying. next day my mother got hysterical and demanded we go shopping for her. We decided rather then go back to the house and deal with he tyranny that we would sleep in the woods. first there was a dog bark that freaked her out, then we moved to another spot. I tried telling her that it was poison oak, but she wouldn't listen. besides she seems immune to it. I got it bad all over me. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
fucking cruel damn world. getting some poootang for like the second time this year and my whole world collapses. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
I need help with my parents. they are really difficult. Problem is I lost my job and they inherited money... so I have to be subservient. they are insane and my mother has serious muscle problems. She should be taking medication, but instead she has become a serious alcoholic over the last few years. my father says it is to deal with her nerve problems, but then why not painkillers? they won't get help and they will throw me out if I get a social worker. my girl agrees. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
it is so bad that my own son is not allowed to visit. I have to sneak my girl around like a teenager. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
Sounds like you living of the State! LOL - Igor The Troll
yeah... except my parents are feminist/socialists. they don't consider themselves Jewish. they are arrogant 60s people. Bohemians. my father is voting for Obama. Stubborn fucking assholes. They think I should join the peace corps or something. to them I am just a spoiled bourgeois child... when I talk blue state economic problems. I'm talking about something very personal - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
they should be taking the money they have and investing it in a business. instead they always invest it in real estate or some trust fund. if you don't invest in a family business then you ride the market. in the 80's we were rich till they lost it all in the 90s. then they inherited more recently and they are about to invest that away somewhere. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
been there -- I feel your pain -- if you have a cool doc, s/he can give you a cortisone shot, works wonders - William Harryman
fact is I have been begging them to invest it in a business plan... but they never do. my grandfather voted for Reagan. he died a few years ago. he was a world war 2 vet. he would of never this kind of bohemian insanity to go on. It is just dramatic bohemian bullshit. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
I am surrounded by domestic violence research and frigg'n counter culture theatre. just arrogant... stupidity. I would sooner die then see what goes on in Poughkeepsie run the rest of the world. feminist/socialist guilt and self hatred. why burden your children with such responsibility if they aren't running the country. sick fucking leftists. it is all just sick emotional abuse. need a reason to hate your kid. just call him a capitalist spoiled brat. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
ack the pain makes me ramble... I can't think straight. sad that I can't stop typing... I hate my parents. is there a word for a person who has to tell the world his problems? exhibitionist I guess. I miss being a pot smoker. I could use something to smoke. the one thing 'yall are right about is that I am one angry person. I have issues. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
cortisone shot... sounds like a good idea. I'm going to try to fall back asleep though. I just put the spray stuff on to stop the itch and try to fall asleep as fast as I can - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
Ha,ha! Noah I like your parents already! I am a bohemian and I think you are bourgeois child! But you have potentials, follow the steps of Buddha! - Igor The Troll
only socialists would go out and tell me that the damn itch suppressors are expensive. I'm in fucking hell. think about it. my father is a professor... he has taught in Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, South Africa and Nigeria. My mother writes domestic violence plays, went to Julliard, but later got a degree in public health. You don't get into those positions of power without being are hard core leftist. Granted it is nice that to provides me with shelter, but it comes with tremendous guilt. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
I just am tired of whipping myself for the world's failures. Seems to me that there is an awful lot of guilt going around for a country that is pretty much second rate. Why are we still beating ourselves up? It is dysfunctional. We need to get the damn Cortizone cream without reminding our kids of the cost. fuck you and ur health insurance, just buy the fucking meds and stop blaming the government - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
Noah the USA government is fucked up! You should be proud of who your parents are and what they have achieved! - Igor The Troll
just get the $6 cream and don't give guilt. blue state tyranny is all about guilt... as if we have no moral choice. - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
More than "using us" I think is a matter of co-evolution. There's a concept called "cognitive prostheses" that may shed some light about it. If you can find juan Ignacio Pozo's "Humana Mente", there's a section dealing with that (including human-computer interaction). I'm not sure if there's an English translation of it, but a quick search turned some relevant results. - Andrés David Aparicio

"In the past few weeks Plurk has released a number of updates in preparation for its upcoming API launch. Improvements include, a new customizable sidebar widget, new starter verbs such as “wonders” and “needs,” a cleaner “All Plurks,” and “My Plurks” navigation, along with a custom search feature. Plurk has even enhanced their competitive ranking system, also known as “Karma” to make the algorithm more fair and balanced." - Hisham Sadek

One of the most stupid things about Plurk is "karma." - Louie
Louie, I find it interesting about Karma .. Isn't it ? - Hisham Sadek
I don't like it because it promotes people spamming themselves just to raise their "karma" points. And having to have certain "karma" levels to change user settings = lame. Let me use the site how I want. - Louie
Like any other social network, it's all about who you follow. None of my friends spam for karma. - Bwana
Me too , It really depends on your friends and about me I'm now so close to Plurk Nirvana and I wasn't spamming :) - Hisham Sadek
You don't understand what I'm saying about spamming. Karma presents a situation where people post for the sake of posting, just to raise their levels. While there are users who do quality posts, karma makes the global pool more diluted, with people wanting to do their xx updates a day to raise/maintain their level. - Louie
So it encourages using the system... what's wrong with that? Especially if they're valid posts. If they're not valid posts, then you shouldn't be following them - Bwana
To retweet @evanhamilton: Wait, so Plurk's hipsterfied premise is "use our product or you get a low rating on our product"? I feel used just writing that. - Louie
I figure if you don't take the karma system seriously, you'll have a great time. If it becomes a vice, then, well, there's always Twitter and its follower count. Focus on the people and conversations, and it's a great system. Focus on the negative potential of the features and it becomes annoying....at least for me. - Bwana
Twitter follower count = (lame) popularity contest. Plurk karma = doggy treats. Not the same. I've been using Plurk for a while, usually when I'm most bored. Their karma scheme just bugs me. I am but a lowly disobedient (headless) pet though. - Louie
Plurk = DO NOT WANT. that dyslexic timeline! it bugs the crap out of me.. WHY does it update R -> L???????? - Mona N.
In my mind, they're both popularity contests, which is probably why it doesn't bother me. The bells and whistles of Karma get old fast and when they do, that's when it becomes valuable. - Bwana
Plurk's timeline is just retarded. It's horizontal...ok, but then it's R->L? It's all scrolly and slick-looking, but I have to click stuff to update? New "plurks" are just scattered haphazardly about my screen. It just makes me somewhat nauseous :) - ♫ Rahsheen™
Ya try following Tweeters that live in the SF bay area. I didn't know anything so I followed who everyone else followed. What a nightmare. Every two minutes "I'm at X and X event. Just saw Kevin rose" "@xyz, i'm over at the bar" "At the xxx event, spotted bla bla bla" UGH do.not.want. - Mona N.
Once you use Plurk enough, karma isn't an important factor anymore. If you don't like other people spamming your timeline, you can either block them or mute Plurks that are of no interest to you. Personally, I found that I get to know people better on Plurk than on Twitter - it's more informal and it encourages conversation. But again - who you follow defines the kind of experience you get (same as with Twitter). - Alja Sulcic
"Posting links to Twitter is great and we encourage people to do so. However, spammers are posting links on a whole different scale and they’re doing something else we call Aggressive Following. This behavior entails following thousands of other accounts in the hope of reciprocation and it really peeves Twitter users because many of us are sensitive to our Follower count—we don’t want email notifications triggered by spammers and we don’t want to see our avatar on their profile page.
Those who have created thousands of accounts, posted thousands of the same link, or aggressively followed way too many people, stand out like a sore thumb to our support team because they are usually blocked by hundreds or thousands of well behaved Twitter users. This simple feedback is one of the ways we detect and delete spam accounts but there are also preventative measures and more we could be doing." - Igor The Troll

what about the facebook status updates? I hope that's coming... - Rahul Das
Nice work with the status, I would like to see DailyMugshot introduced! - Joe Dawson (beta)
Great! Just added identi.ca; configuring brightkite too. - Parth Awasthi
Paul, given Identi.ca uses the Twitter API it would be nice if we could respond via Identi.ca in the same way you can with Tweets. I presume implementing it wouldn't be overly hard (where as Plurk of course is another matter) - Duncan Riley
@Rahul FB status would be cool, but there is no public RSS feed. There is a feed, but it requires a key, which would require you to type in your username/password. - Hao Chen
@Duncan +1. i was thinking the same thing - Trent Olson
