I am very excited to announce a contest with our advertiser and Foodie Mama supporter, momAgenda, to provide one winner with a planner designed by and for moms: the Kitchen Folio. "

So the newspaper industry's downfall was putting profits before readers. And now it's come to this. Advertising dictates editorial? Real classy.... Such a shame. From the page: "As of yesterday, some section editors at all of the company's papers, including The News, will now report directly to Carr's team of sales managers, now referred to as general managers. In short, those who sell ads for A.H. Belo's products will now dictate content within A.H. Belo's products, which is a radical departure from the way newspapers have been run since, oh, forever."

From the page: "With new technology and a new way of doing things comes a series of important questions from folks outside the space looking to possibly dip a toe in (and eventually hopefully dive in all together) or at least become educated and understand why it is relevant and not just for the extreme techy or âÂoeyoung people.â"

Love this post! What do you say or think when someone asks if you're "just" a mommy blogger? From the page: I love my blog, but I do so much more than just blog. Or rather blogging is so much more than just the blog. There's the social media component, the promotional component, the PR component, the research, the editing, the photography, and everything else that goes into it. It's a full time job that few of us have 8 hours a day to dedicate to. We do it at night and in the minutes between everything else that takes up our energy and our attention. We pour our hearts and our souls into this little editing window.

From the page: ""I'm really here." That's what my 3-year-old son said yesterday, softly to himself soon after we arrived at Disney World. I know many families do the traditional Thanksgiving, but this year we decided to pack up the minivan and head south. Today, Thanksgiving Day, was our first day at the parks during this visit. A statement like that, so simple, so almost adult-like, is exactly the reason why this is known as the most magical place on earth."

From the page: "Blogging is a wonderful medium, but I am also a firm believer that we bloggers can elevate our work by taking the best of new media and the best of old media and combining it. It serves us well, and it serves our readers well. I spent 15 years as a newspaper reporter, and now seven years blogging (with some overlap). Here are some ways to blog like a journalist."

From the blog: This blog is about people getting to be who they want to be, being accountable for their own actions, and finding a habitable place in the world. It is not about victims, or about blame. I am `neurotypical' (although, out of context, people would laugh at me for saying that). After getting to know people with autism and their families for 10 years, and learning a variety of autism methodologies in several states, I've seen a lot of brilliant work, and a lot of crap. Thankfully, none of the crap has tainted my belief that people on the spectrum have a lot to contribute. The rest of us do too. This little blog is part of my personal contribution. For me, EmpowerAutism is an everyday practice, and I want to share it.

Great interview with a leader in blogger outreach from the brand side... From the page: "George G. As a semi-yankee (D.C. native) who now lives in the south, this is a great read. She really nails it. From the page: "A dear friend of mine is gearing up for a move from the bitter north to the south land. I thought I would put together a little primer for her and for anyone else who needs a little help with Southern culture."

Been thinking (even posting a bit) about a "people's network" where we actually own the thing... I don't trust the owners of Twitter, Facebook, et. al. In fact they sort of rub me the wrong way most of the time... :-)

This is the best FF PR... a combo Twitter/FB crash.

I'm seeing a lot of people re-evaluating FF in their social networking strategy. I know I am for my personal as well as accounts I manage. Will bring this topic up at PodcampBoston 4 this weekend #PCB4

Well, I hope that now my Twitter contacts will finally get over to FriendFeed and return my subscription, I'm following thousands of them here after "importing" them (for lack of a better word) a while back...

I'm one of those that have listened and moved over to have a nosey, for our group FF looks a good fit (we probably should of evaluated sooner)

On this day in 2009, Twitter went down for the second time in less than a week, and ominously right after FriendFeed was acquired by Facebook. #twitterfailsagain
