With all of the emotions raging around both parties in a new relationship, all sorts of weird things can happen. And this can happen whether the two parties are teenagers, or older.

Ho Ho Ho I didn't notice this one coming up!
- Yuvi
Okay, I'm not going out with anyone, I'm not 'seeing' anyone. Not that I don't want to - just that my parents would literally kill me if they come to know, and I am just going to stay out of trouble there :(
- Yuvi
Sneak out. It's healthy. Just be smart and plan things out.
- Gus
I'm sure I could do it behind their backs, not let them know, but isn't that... wrong?
- Yuvi
@Yuvi: No. It's wrong to control natural things like seeking mates.

In looking for FF alternatives, has anyone found ones that have Friend-of-a-Friend, auto-refresh (even after a period of time, like it used to before real-time), items that pop to the top with activity, and embeddable widgets that preserve inline media and comments? Those seem to be the things lacking from everywhere I look.
Just in case. I'm sticking around until the bitter end, but I want to have someplace all set up to head to. Plus I want to keep reminding anyone who might be working on apps to fill the void what the things are that separate FF from the rest. :)
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Gotcha. Well I'm not as social media-savvy as some people here, but during the whole FB + FF couple of days, Steamy(?) seemed to be the one people were talking about most as a competent alternative. Try that? I haven't yet.
- Chris Nunz
I've looked at Streamy - to me Streamy seems to be more of a SocialMedian type of thing (but I didn't use SocialMedian that much). More of a suggested RSS/news item reader rather than a lifestream aggregator with kickass community integration. Like, you can add your services, but they show up as separate widgets. I can see activity on my Flickr photos in Streamy, but it's not integrated with the rest of my lifestream.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Oh I see, thanks for the explanation. Also, people today on here were discussing how Google Reader could replace this and Twitter if you import everyone's feeds -- I think you can make folders and stuff.
- Chris Nunz
Yeah, I was working on GReader setup earlier - you have to basically approve people to allow them to comment (follow them as well and add them to a commenting-allowed group). It's probably going to be a decent replacement for the basic browsing on FF, though.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
We now foster for two shelters, Palo Alto Animal Services and now the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. This is our first group with HSSV and they are just adorable. We decided to take on HSSV also because, well they asked. They were desperately looking for foster parents as they have had too many kittens this year, and Palo Alto has had a light year so I talked with everyone involved and so now we work with both. I hope it won't be too much to keep everyone's different rules straight and all, but everyone is so wonderful at both places that I think it will work out fine. These 4 were just picked up in a lot in San Jose, their mother is rather feral and ran off so these guys got brought in and I got called. Woo hoo!!! This is exactly what I needed to fill the little hole in my heart that Orion left behind. Seems to be 2 boys and 2 girls, but more updates will be coming soon I'm sure. My guess is that they are about 3.5 or 4 weeks old. We will have these guys at lest 4 weeks, maybe more.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Some folks wish their cat would always be a kitten. You kinda get that wish come true.
- Spidra Webster
SO CUTE! Exactly what I needed at the end of the hard day....
- Georgia Diehl
how do you all do it ?? I wish I could do the same.. have a foster home. Keep up the good works !!
- Peter Dawson
God, following Rachel is better than cute overload.
- anna sauce
Spidra, we do kind of get that. Except we also get the heartache of giving up each set so it does have it's price. Worth it though!! - Georgia, me too!! - Peter, it's awesome, and difficult and so rewarding. Thank you! - Aden, seriously, right!? - anna, AWESOME!!
- Rachel Lea Fox
The first one is soooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- RAPatton
from iPod
Aden, well right now they are all super timid and not so sure about me, but I keep taking short breaks from work and popping in on them and giving scritches and talking to them and they are getting interested. The all grey one looks like he will warm up first, the black and white girl (i think) is currently the most unhappy with me and the grey and white boy (i think) is an ostrich wanting to bury his head anywhere he can. It will take time, but they will warm up.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Lucky muthda fru.... *grumbles like Muttley from Wacky Races*

Katy, totally... the all grey one looks a lot like Indy did when she was a baby too, except Indy's eyes were grey too! Here is our first litter of kittens with baby Indiana in it: http://www.flickr.com/photos...
- Rachel Lea Fox
Poor Johnny kitten... how will he ever get socialized?
- Rachel Lea Fox
These are all from the same litter? What a variation in coloring! You are going to have so much fun! Actually, you are already having fun, aren't you?
- Anne Bouey
Anne, yup, all the same litter. You can get some wild variation of kitten markings in a litter as not all the kittens in the same litter always have the same father. Here is a photo from a litter of 5 where there were also three looks, black and white, tiger grey and bermin white (one kitten is missing in the photo) http://www.flickr.com/photos... And yes, I am having a great time, even with work intermingled in.
- Rachel Lea Fox
That's a lot of work Rachel, to keep all those kittens for nothing. God bless you.
- 'Like' robot (frɐnc)
Franc ☺, not for nothing... the love you get from the kittens, and the laughs when you are stressed out or upset, seriously, you can't stay upset when a kitten runs up to you or purrs on your lap. And it makes our kitties more playful and happy as well. Yeah, it's work, but it's so worth every bit of it. We love it.

- Rachel Garb
Lovely and beautiful! When can Jeanette and I stop by to snuggle the little fuzzballs? :)
- Tudor Bosman
Rachel, the new HSSV facility is amazing! Feel free to ask me about fostering any time. I'll post more about our process at some point. Currently the kittens are on quarinteen as they just came off the street today. When they meet our older kitties varies, but our older kitties are used to Orion now so the transition should be easy this time, but these are also much smaller kitties and...

Just got my finger bitten rather hard a few times... these guys were still nursing at least part time up till today. You can see the stains from the mothers milk on the chins of the ones who are white there, and they are kind of unsure what to do with food. So I've been using Tina's suggestion of feeding them on my finger till I can lead them to the bowl. They are doing well but do seem...

Finally got grey and white boy to eat, but I had to make kitten gruel to get him to do it. all grey and tiger have accepted me as their momma cat, black and white is considering it and grey and white is still reluctant but isn't fighting so hard since the gruel. Going well. These guys are showing signs of closer to 3.5 weeks old, so I think I will be getting up to feed them in 4 or 5 hours, just till I know they will eat enough.
- Rachel Lea Fox
OMG - they are adorable - especially the little tuxie - love love love tuxies!

I adopted my dog Chase from HSSV. It was a good experience. He was classified as special needs due to being very afraid at the shelter. The foster family had taken really good care of him.
- Lani
from iPhone
Lani, his he still very afraid or has he relaxed. Any shelter can be hard with all the barking and people everywhere, very unnerving, but the foster homes can do so so much for the all of the animals!
- Rachel Lea Fox
Oh so cute...I want one! I especially like the gray kitteh with the white nose.
- Alex Scoble
He is a real sweetie Alex. He was shy at first, would bury himself under the other kittens so you wouldn't see him, but now he ready for love and getting somewhat social.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Chase is still afraid of various things when we are out. Low rumbling noises from trucks for one. But he seems to be happy and secure most of the time. He recently starting singing along with sirens. It is so cute.

Lani, I just put this in another post for someone else, but might also be useful for you. Not sure if you have tried Feliway before but it is kitty pheromones which calm the kitty while in stressful situations. Might be helpful. http://www.feliway.com/gb...

I'm in love with the little gray one. I want one, but then Louis wouldn't be able to breathe. Hmmm.
- Kristine Gray
Kristine, they little grey boy is a little spitfire, he is rather awesome. It of course depends on how allergic he is. If he is mildly allergic sometimes exposure reduces it, it did with Kevin. His tolerance for other allergens is lower for having cats, but he doesn't have to medicate anymore. If he is a little worse than that, getting a russian blue cat could work as they have a...

friendfeedFilterByService - just released (greasemonkey script) - Shows only FriendFeed feed entries based on user chosen service types via either an inclusion (services to show) or exclusion (services to hide) list. http://userscripts.org/scripts...
In this initial release, selecting the services to filter is set by installing the script, then opening it to update the "Configuration" variables (near the top of the script, it's clearly marked). A future version will have a better interface than this. By default (it's meant to be changed right away by each user) the configuration is set to: filterMethod = "HIDE" and servicesToHideArr = ["Twitter", "Some other service"]. A side effect of running the script is (whether on your home feed or friendfeed.com/public or any realtime view) as new entries come into view, there is less of a smooth transition: entries more so just pop into place; the page also wiggles up and down in a more pronounced manner. Steps have been taken in the script to reduce the vertical movement, however. If you find any more caveats, let me know, and enjoy!
- Micah Wittman
What's the killer app / a usage example for this? Sorry, I am slow.
- Josh Haley
If you want to see all Twitter, all the time on the public feed (and nothing else): You've got TwitterVision. Of course others will take Twitter out and want to see everything else :)
- Micah Wittman
I'll be back on FF around 8:30pm MST to answer any questions. —See ya—
- Micah Wittman
pretty cool. Using SHOW tumblr then SHOW bookmarklet. If there aren't any entries that normally would have been on your front page, then the page is blank. crank up the ?num=100 and then you have a better chance at seeing the entries. Way to go, Micah!
- Josh Haley
I like it. But the "SHOW"option conflicts with the Cleaner FriendFeed script when you have a lot of services in there.
- Willem (@wim66) ☠
Works fine now with Cleaner FriendFeed for widescreen script.
- Willem (@wim66) ☠
So does this get applied across the entire site? I want to hide all of Twitter in http://friendfeed.com/public, for example, but not in any of my lists. There I've got it hidden natively s.t. I only see tweets with Likes/comments.
- Ken Sheppardson
OK, this is officially slick. Thanks, Micah! Feature request: I wish I could just have it strip away or hide everything other than div#feed, I'd configure it to only apply to http://friendfeed.com/public, and I'd just stick it in it's own window (or the sidebar) as a little real-time FriendFeed ticker.
- Ken Sheppardson
version 0.112 released! - Embed styles added for a compact layout when using ?embed=1 querystring. Ken, start the ticker tape parade =)
- Micah Wittman
FriendFeed has been almost completely blocked in Iran as far as we can tell. We have a large number of very active Iranian users, and we noticed a steep decline in activity yesterday. Graph below.
این نمودار نشاندهنده افت فرندفید به دلیل بسته شدن آن در ایران است
- Mycaptain
Bret: Is this based on IP numbers located in Iran, or actual activity from those users? If it's IP based, it'd be interesting to see the activity on a user basis and see if they've been able to route around the blocking.
- Ken Sheppardson
If Twitter were blocked and FriendFeed weren't, I'd expect an uptick in FriendFeed activity, not a 92% drop.
- Kevin Fox
I.e. given all the users who've previously accessed the site from an Iran IP number, how many have been active from different numbers in the past 2 days.
- Ken Sheppardson
Instead of "liking" this, shouldn't we have an "unlike" button?
- Steven Melfi
:( Bret: According to Stephen fry, these are the iran proxies: 218.128.112.18:8080 218.206.94.132:808 218.253.65.99:808 219.50.16.70:8080 . Can you track these IPs?
- Roberto Bonini
I knew this day was coming. Too bad.
- Robert Scoble
Steven - same feeling here. I always feel weird "liking" bad stories on FF
- Mike Bracco
How does traffic from China look? Or North Korea?
- τorƍue

- Imprenditore
I wonder what the international community can do about stuff like this. Eventually the "bad guys" will lose.

Hopefully, we'll never see a graph like this for Turkey...
- Onur Şentüre
that's because the government has blocked access to friendfeed, twitter, facebook, youtube and ... after election and after protests in Iran cities !
- Farshad
Man... :( That's really a corrupt government. Hope it gets better soon.
- Peter
Kheyzaran mentioned over the weekend that both Twitter and FF were blocked for Iran starting I believe on Friday. He is using a proxy when possible to keep us updated
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Bret, any analysis about how many people unable to access FF directly are still able to access it via proxy?
- Daniel Dulitz
Daniel: Well, we are still getting a bunch of Farsi comments and posts. They may be Persians from outside Iran or from Iranians using proxies. We don't have a detailed analysis breaking those down at this point.
- Bret Taylor
Watching the "guerrilla cyberwarfare" aspect of the elections and reactions has been fascinating. Iran's universities are obviously full of resourceful, passionate geeks.
- John Craft
this is really bad. i hope there's some resolution to this. the people or iran have shown a lot of strength and courage to protest the illegitimacy of recent events. i don't think this will stop things
- Cee Bee
Is it possible that the same folks from Iran that are active on Friendfeed are the ones out protesting?
- MVB (Grinch of FF)
please help us , we are under attack ,change friendfeed logo if you can
- فرزاد
make a room for us, invite your friends we will fill it with latest news
- Farshad
I'm completely for having a fair vote, but I'm not sure that I'd want to try and align FriendFeed with a particular candidate, which is what a green logo would imply.
- Kevin Fox
Many iranians using proxies to access FF. and therefore their IPs changes to fake IP .
- آدمیرال
MohammadReza: Maryam's mom is still able to call her relatives and friends in Tehran, so they are keeping some voice traffic open, if not all.
- Robert Scoble
@Kevin, totally understandable.
- EricaJoy
from IM
If Iran thinks they have nothing to fear, then why block Friendfeed?
- Frode Stenstrøm
Frode: because the government is like China: they believe that by retarding the flow of information they will reduce the threat of protests and governmental overthrow.
- Robert Scoble
Very reminiscent of the prelude to the fall of the Shah
- Alan Morris
I don't speak Persian, so I don't know all the searches, but there are still (luckily) a lot of Persian users posting: http://friendfeed.com/search.... If you are Persian and looking for updates, try our search engine to find the few users who still have access.
- Bret Taylor
Frode: and in Iran's case, they are run by conservative religious authorities and they don't like the fact that they are not in control of information flow like they used to be. They like to think they can still control information sources and, since they can't, they try to block places where their citizens can go to share information.
- Robert Scoble
is it a joke? iranian users seems the %90 of friend feed. it could not be real!
- Fırat DEMİREL
Firat: There are no units on the vertical axis of the chart.
- Ken Sheppardson
Firat: This is a chart of traffic from Iran, not of FF's total traffic.
- Kevin Fox
Firat, i doubt that this graph is a percentage graph... probably more likely that it's measuring hits, sessions, or total data transfered (mb, kb, etc)
- Chris Heath
Kevin: what impact did this have on FF's overall traffic?
- Robert Scoble
Robert: Iran is the #6 country for FriendFeed in terms of page views per day.
- Bret Taylor
Thanks all for answers. i told that it could not be real.. :) excuse me, i ve just read Bret's notice and looked at breaking point. i saw what i've missed before.. bad news for ff and iran.. :(
- Fırat DEMİREL
These statistics are incredible, especially the normally heavy useage of FF in Iran.
- Curt Mercadante
Bret Taylor, we can tag our pix and vids about iran election by an english keyword such as 'iran' or 'iranelection'. I think it will help to ff non-persian users to find out more about unrests in iran.
- آدمیرال
Iran restored cell phone service Sunday that had been down in the capital since Saturday. But Iranians still could not send text messages from their mobile phones, and the government increased its Internet filtering in an apparent attempt to undercut opposition voices. Social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter were also not working.
- Üstün Üzüm
martin: those words are not mine actually from a news article from washinton post.
- Üstün Üzüm
On twitter people are retweeting the IPs and ports of unblocked proxies, can we do something like that here?
- Canageek
martin, i'm from iran. twitter is blocked. what evidence you wanna? screenshot!?
- آدمیرال
yes Canageek. we use proxies for tweeting
- آدمیرال
Authorities blocking the internet are just reinforcing solidarity between people, can't they understand ?
- Stanislas Jourdan
Stanislas: not to mention they encourage their smartest and richest people to leave (the ones who have technical skills). There's a reason why Silicon Valley has 10,000 or more Iranians living here. Their government sucks and the people are getting tired of it. Of course if their government was great I would never have met my wife (who grew up in Tehran). So, there is good to come out of a crappy government! :-)
- Robert Scoble
it has always seemed to me that the iranian user base is ENORMOUS here. wow. unbelievable.
- edythe
It is interesting how much civil unrest that is brewing across the globe towards their governments. The knee jerk reactions in attempting to block certain websites shows how much they didn't expect the net to become such a widespread conduit for cutting through the bs and informing those that wish to know. I wish those who take a stand all the best.
- alphaxion
Another way for those that are in Iran is to access through Netvibes (but I don't know if it works or if it's blocked too), adding Friendfeed, Gmail and so on such as modules
- Roberto
Thanks for sharing this, Bret. It's valuable evidence of what's going on, evidence which wouldn't have been available even a few years ago.
- Michael Nielsen
Very interesting...so much for democracy and voting rights in Iran...
- freedom fighter mom
If anybody in Iran feels up to it, can you temporarily disable your proxy and run a traceroute to friendfeed.com and twitter.com then post the results here?
- EricaJoy
Bret and Paul, can you let us know if the traffic comes back, which would tell us they've unblocked FriendFeed?
- Robert Scoble
Robert: absolutely, we will let everyone know when it comes back up
- Bret Taylor

Steven: You Like that it was posted, not the content of the post.

Yes, Friendfeed is blocked in Iran. Right now the papers and TV channels here are controlled by the government and our access to satellite channels is blocked too. The Iranian websites that people used to exchange information about the election protests in Iran are under cyber-attacks by the government forces and from anonymous sources. Many of them are down right now. These Iranian websites were our few last remaining channels to inform people. What can we do about that? Is there anyone out there who can help us with this?
- emin
i was 53rd active user in friendfeed until this filtering. now i can open FF with proxies and if i can fine. a Vpn but many Vpn here come from companies that have relations with security services, i thunk they allow us to bypass filternig and then, they will arrest who has wrote against their goals

Can't we transfer the data/databases of the sites you, iranian guys, use to any new domain we could buy? I want to help. Not by throwing rocks to "security service" forces, but, at least, by making possible for what YOU have to say to go public, worldwide.

You know, Steven, bunnehs are totally sexy. Haven't you heard of people, um, breeding like bunnehs? You can trade on your bunnehtude and get lots of chicks. :-D

Not a good attitude for a scientist to have :)
- Mo Kargas
if it is not good for a scientist to have that view then if all theories were just taken as fact and not tested, modified and updated then it would always result the same, seems to me that is the view of an Open Minded Scientist who keeps seeking something different, to make something happen otherwise thought not possible.

Who said anything about accepting theory as fact? You don't change the facts, you change the theory
- Mo Kargas
Indeed the point was to simply keep an open mind to not take a theory at face value, not so much as to consider a theory as facts.

I just subscribed, and kept asking myself ?how could I have missed it? I thought all graphic enhancements so far were for Firefox only. Apparently, however, I didn't miss it by more than 2 minutes! Thanks.

Maybe a little too twittery but I like it! An easy way to quickly share searches. I would like to see it somehow encompass multiple word searches though.
- Brandon Titus
See! Paul is _SO GOOD_ he just says... "I'll do it later today". Well done, sir.
- Louis Gray
so can we get a combo on the search. .search only "comments" {y/n}; "tag" (y/n") ; "title" {y/n} ? In that manner we can SearchRT in various methods of text in and byitself.. !
- Peter Dawson
Somewhat confusing - some # tags go to FF some go to Twitter.
- Brian Sullivan
@Brian: tags that go to Twitter are posted from Twitter
- LouCypher
so will imported tweets containing hashtags link to twitter search or friendfeed search? in the past I think they linked to twitter
- chrisofspades
LouCypher - yes and I block Twitter (but it does still show up in real time searches/filters) -- that combined with the fact that it is not easy at a glance to identify the source of the posts makes it confusing.
- Brian Sullivan
O.K. I'm impressed. So much for the theory that you guys are releasing things slowly. I think you completely destroyed that today. Nice work!
- Michael Fidler
Shouldn't we be able to tag posts directly - without using a comment to do so? Comment - Like - Share - Hide - Tags? "Tags" should show you existing comment tags - and allow the adding of new ones.
- Tim Tyler
I'm with Tim. Genuine tagging would be a Good Thing.
- Chris Lasher
I'd love 'real' tags, but do I see the utility of leveraging hashtags, especially w/ all the tweets that come into FF. If they linkified twitter hashtags, and then also built their own tags system, it'd a) be more work for little more reward, and b) be confusing for some users, as there would effectively be two tag systems in FF. Lesser evil, and all that. *grin*
- Ken Kennedy
Brilliant! What happens to tags in tweets? Weren't they linked to Twitter searches?
- Kol Tregaskes
Yeah, given that hashtags in tweets link to Twitter Search, hashtags in other types of content should link to FriendFeed search, but WITHOUT the hash sign in the search term. But I agree that "real" FF tags would be even better. Maybe when you type a hashtag, it could get automatically converted into a real tag?
- Grey Drane
Really great improvement guys! It would be i nice feature to see the most popular tags. #improvement
- Jan Friman
Congrats on this awesome new feature Paul but what about #hashtags with hyphens? For example: #real-time only linkifies #real. :(Twitter has the same dilemma)
- Garin Kilpatrick
I think there should be an international investigation into the fact Rahsheen wasn't included until now. :) I always assumed he had been, and that oversight has been rectified.
- Louis Gray
Oh, except on MOST days I'm more active here than my brother. :)
- Alex Scoble
I love that you do this!!! You are awesome Louis. :) Sitting on this list is like being on a REAL SUL! I liked being on it myself (plug, plug) ;-)
- Sheryl
been following lph, bwana, and paul for a while for their tech insight, recently started following alex & rasheen for their interesting comments, thanks for giving us more interesting people to check out on this list :)
- Mike Chelen
Awesome list this month! Everyone there was already on my radar except for MaryAnn - going to check that out right now!
- Laura Norvig
I think I need to give Louis a break next month. Actually Rasheen and Shey were listed way back on the September list, I strayed off the pack that month and profiled 20 people. http://michaelfruchter.com/blog... Outstanding list this month otherwise, great job Louis!

Zoey says: This morning in kitten school I learned to pounce, started working on playing in small open areas and I actually took a chance and snuck up on Miss Indiana and swatted at her tail. She didn't seem happy, but Rachel and Kevin loved it. Maybe I'll try it again soon... #zoeyfosterkitten#foxfosterkittens
Stephen, this is with my iphone even. I think it is using the macro function on the phone. It's from this set of iphone shots I took yesterday: http://friendfeed.com/phoenix...
- Rachel Lea Fox
oh boy I see another spoiled kitty! (I have three) She's precious :)
- BEX
Ah, thanks Rachel, I missed that post from yesterday. All five pics do look good. (How many total did you take to select those 5-best?)
- Stephen Mack
BEX, little zoey is our foster kitten, spoiled kitty in training for someone else's home. She is very timid and needs lots of training as her rough life beginning has set her back a little. but she is doing great and loving lap cat life. We have two very spoiled kitties of our own and then the random slew of kittens that pass through. In my next life I want to be a spoiled house cat - really really spoiled like mine are!!
- Rachel Lea Fox
Stephen, It looks like I had take about 27 at the time that I shared those ones, plus a few of Indiana. A few had some motion blur that I didn't like but when I was posting I was disappointed that I couldn't share more than 5, I really wanted to share 9.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Adorable. So present in the eyes. Great shot!
- Fossil Huntress
I get so excited about zoey doing the littlest things: like instigating her own playing or getting off the couch to go to her condo with her food and litter to eat or whatever and then coming back to the couch and not hiding in her bed, or being interested in what the big kitties are doing rather than just cowering. She is really a very different kitten than she was when she got here. She still has a long way to go, but she is making progress!
- Rachel Lea Fox
Anyone in the bay area, Zoey will be up for adoption, next week most likely (she is our foster kitten). She is looking for a home with no kids (at least for a year or so) and no dogs. Other cats will take adjustment but will be fine.
- Rachel Lea Fox
I've thought it would be great to be foster mom to cats or dogs, but I would seriously not be able to resist keeping every single one.
- Jannifer @wordsforliving
Jannifer, the only way to resist is know that if you keep them all, that you can't keep fostering. And then how do you get all the adorable kitteny goodness?
- Rachel Lea Fox
Aaaawww how true! You must be very strong! I would cry and cry and cry if I had to give one up!
- Jannifer @wordsforliving
Oh I cry every single time. But it's worth it. I love having them all so much, when I don't have them I'm longing for them. And I know they are off to fabulous new homes because we helped them.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Never seen one quite like that - do you know what kind it is? Love those long legs LOL
- martha
If anyone needs me, I'll be rocking myself in a fetal position in the corner. But not the corner under that crapload of spiders.
- Penguin It's Cold Outside
I admit, if I saw this in person, I'd have 2 messes to clean up. But on the other hand, it's kinda neat from this far away.
- Josh Haley
That's just really not FUN! :-( How big is that thing? And how many babies are actually in that picture? 100?
- Mark Aitken
I guess Plan A would be Step 1 - Vacuum cleaner Step 2 - Burn Vacuum cleaner in the parking lot Step 3 - Buy new Vacuum Cleaner.
- Matthew DeVries
Cowboy boots work well for those corner critters from what I hear.
- Bill Heslin
I'm not scared of spiders and I think I just crapped in my pants!
- Jim: Dead Like FF
I once went to flick a large spider off of a picnic table with a small stick... when the stick touched it a thousand *tiny* spiders exploded from its back all over the place. I had not noticed that it was a momma carrying all of its babies; was most unexpected :-)
- W_B_K
from fftogo
Seriously, I suspect it was a scene like this, except on the floor of my parents' home and 2 feet away from me, that caused my fear of spiders. I can remember Mom going after one and little monsters going everywhere. HIDING.

OMG!! If I saw that, I'd definitely be spending the night at a hotel......under the covers!

Serious. These give me the creeps, especially the hand-sized ones we sometimes have in our kitchen in Japan. (supposed to be bad luck to kill them! gaah!) Oh, and don't forget the centipedes.
- Rick Cogley
I like Matthew Devries plan A, B, and C
- Lisa Immekus
You gotta say it is a cool shot though - And spiders are not all that bad, hmm to attach Arachnophobia to Friendfeed or Eight Legged Freaks :) All well thanks for the shot that is cool.
- Ubuntu101
Luv em. I like them to crawl up my arms best.
- pazzer1
EEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww! Hate spiders. Now hiding this post. /me shudders
- EricaJoy
Hey, they eat all the other bugs! Nothing like a cleanup crew!
- Jo Golden PhD
I think I'm gonna have to take a pass on this one. As I've said before, I can deal with one spider. Maybe a half dozen. Tarantulas even. This is all kinds of No. The spiders took it too far. They're supposed to *remove* the vermin, not *become* the vermin.

of course it is always something simple - lately my downloads have been not finishing and I am in the process of figuring that out why, but when I watched what was going on in the terminal as I ended up using wget I noticed the problem was that the download was not completing. Fortunately wget keeps retrying and eventually downloaded a solid copy then using the steps mentioned earliier am installing it now. looks like a great program.

Surprised to see it does not have channels for the USA as the transition to digital happened just recently here, but was interesting to see the other international channels.

I must be lame, I have no clue what this means :(

Yuvi, regarding the animated gif itself? Think of it as an XKCD bit, without a punch line :)

Ah. I personally keep coming back to this post. It draws me in, then I joke about it. Then I see it in My discussions feed as I'm scrolling along, so I stop once again. *loop* :-)

indeed it is a fun one to reference time and again, maybe not perfectly in line with Open Source but interesting nonetheless.

I was thinking more like "Fast and the Furless".

Yes, expect maybe more of a Young Frankenstein meets Cannonball Run II.

Great idea, should have some hollywood buyers for that one...given the shite dribbling out of there of late

"GIMP is a an attempt at answering the call for freely distrusted image editing software. While Photoshop is widely regarded as the industry standard for all kinds of image manipulation, it’s costly and overblown for the average photographers use (ok, so I let in a *little* comparison). Yes, Photoshop has a ton of useful tools, support and plugins available, but it was never available for Linux operating system users until the introduction of Wine. And it was those users of Linux who initially requested something to run on their operating system to manipulate photographs."
