Seriously. I never understood why immigrants are required to know more about history and civics than people who are born here. I guess the problem is, what do you with all the people who won't pass?

That's the sad part, CW. In the three states in which I attended school (Illinois, Alabama and Texas), you do have to pass a test on at least the Constitution and American History. Says volumes about our educational system, no?

And I took these courses back when America's fragmentation was not as pronounced as it is today. I can't imagine what the experience of teaching students about civics is like in a world with Fox News and Rush Limbaugh blaring in the kids' other ear.
