Is anyone really surprised by this? >> Anonymous Hacks Neo-Nazis, Finds Ron Paul | Care2 Causes
"In a document dump that includes private forum messages, emails, organization notes another other information the group found numerous connections between Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and A3P. According to the documents, all hosted here, Paul himself regularly met with many A3P members, engaged in conference calls with their board of directors and engaged in a “bridging tactic” between A3P and the Ron Paul Revolution. Other excerpts show A3P webmaster Jamie Kelso (whose email account was one hacked by the collective) coordinating meeting between Paul and other members of A3P such as corporate lawyer and chairman of the neo-Nazi group Paul. “I’m going to go to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) with Bill Johnson,” reads an email to an A3P member dated January 2011. “Bill and I will be meeting with Ron and Ran Paul. I have a teleconference call with Bill (and Ron Paul) tonight. Much more later. Things are starting to happen (thanks to folks like you).”" - Anika from Bookmarklet
Surprised? Not really. - John (bird whisperer)
Oh, it was from Feb. I am surprised at the muted media reaction since then. - Andrew C (✓)
This is my surprised face. - Adrian
I do find this surprising. - Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
O.o I'm surprised. - Soup in a TARDIS
Considering Paul's long history with white supremacy, why are you surprised, Soup and Stephen? - Anika from FFHound!
I knew of the shady stories in his old rag, and he did seem suspicious, but it's one thing to suspect someone of white supremacy, and another to have it so explicitly proven like this. Perhaps it's naive of me, but I don't expect any active politicians in the U.S. to be so evil as to have current covert relationships with neo-Nazi organizations. - Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
Well, to be honest, I don't know much about Ron Paul. I've seen him in the debates and interviewed on The Daily Show and that's about it. I suppose that I, like Stephen, find it surprising that an active politician would have a current covert relationship with a neo-Nazi organization. Honestly, I find it bewildering that anyone other than survivalists with a screw loose who live "off the grid" would have ANY kind of relationship with neo-Nazis. It's not that I don't believe it, just that it's so outside my experience that it seems like something from a story. - Soup in a TARDIS
He has written racist screeds and has photos and correspondence with known white supremacists. When POC say that Paul is a bigot, this is what we are referring to. Each time it's brought up, he passes it off as he didn't know what was happening and everyone gives him a pass. BUT! When you have correspondence and photos with the same neo-Nazis & white supremacists every year AND they throw fundraisers in your honor, it's kind of hard to believe the ignorance plead. - Anika
Is there a difference, I wonder, between a bigot and someone who is happy to take the money of bigots? Either scenario puts my vote into "no go" territory, but perhaps Paul gets away with his associations (repeatedly, going by the above) because he's taking refuge in inexact language? Or can the "bigot" title be applied equally to those who exhibit bigoted behaviors and those who facilitate them? - Soup in a TARDIS
Soup, it's not just his associations but also the newsletter he published, titled with his own name and running racist screeds written in the first person and including personal details about his family -- given all of that, it was frankly amazing that people believed that those were ghostwritten by someone else and Ron Paul didn't know about all that racist stuff in it. - Andrew C (✓)
O.o He's claiming material with his name on it was ghostwritten? WTF. - Soup in a TARDIS
And not just one thing, but about 20 years of racist stuff. And you know, he keeps associating with white surpremacists who have access a simple supporter doesn't get and then the, "Well, I take a lot of pictures." With the same white supremacists? In private settings? Every year? But you know...he wants to end war and legalize pot so RonPaul20xx! - Anika
I had no idea. O.O - Soup in a TARDIS
