I am sorry to hear that you received bad news... I just wanted to say that I agree with what you said. Don't take people for granted. We should all be thankful for the time that we have here. Life is too short and precious!!

You should try laying on a foam roller to open your back up... or a heating pad.

find yourself a pilates instructor, its a winner for strengthening core to eliminate back pain.
- jcunwired
as much as it hurts, do situps - strengthen your abs/core to alleviate pressure that your back muscles are using

Studies have consistently shown that carrying on as normal is better than complete rest or extra exercise. Don't sit very still for extended periods, you will just get stiff.

As a chronic backpain sufferer with a bulged disc that generates pain off the scale: Get advice from a doc, not FF... but you knew that already :-)

It's a Nike+ clone. A small dongle senses your movement over the course of the a day then uploads the data to their site where they calculate approximate caloric burn/distance traveled, etc. The differentiator is the size of the dongle.

@Ariane, you need to see the demo to do it justice, but you point your iphone camera at a street and it tells you what every store is, what is inside, what your friends recommend. Point at a wall of phones it gives you reviews of the phones on the wall. It was like the iPhone meets Snowcrash. Definitely watch the demo video if you can.
- Andrew Leyden
You aim your iPhone's camera at things and it shows you all sorts of notes and media objects (they call them tags) on top of the images of what your camera is aimed at. It's location based, so if you're in SFO, you'll see notes people left for you at SFO.
- Robert Scoble
those who are at TC50 - do they have working demo? can you play with it?
- Naor Mark
I missed it too. What is all the hype about?
- Roberto Bonini
@Scoble: Rather than "will people use it?" we should ask "will it blend?" My money is on yes.

"On August 8, 2008, ABC News reported that John Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter. In an interview for Nightline, Edwards said that although he was involved with Hunter, he did not love her and was not the father of her child. The interview will air on the August 8 edition of Nightline."

How does his private life exclude him from high office? Not that I mind at all, but wasn't that the party line during the perjury impeachment trials? Double standards at work?
- Jay Wiegmann
while his wife is dealing with cancer? nice touch scum bag!
- Morgan
Personal life and perjury are different. Clinton shouldn't have been on trial for getting a blow job but when he lied, that's a problem. Edwards' personal life matters because it's a reflection on his character. I personally don't put much weight on infidelity but it does have a slight significance and says something about him as a person. And since we are voting for a person to represent us, his personal life matters too.

Damn! Dog house is gonna be crowded tonight.

@the1jay Shouldn't really matter unless you're Obama and you're trying to convince a whole lotta fencesitters and Republicans to come over to your side.
- Ijonas
He wasn't going to be named for VP slot anyway, its just disgusting that we as a society feed disgusting publications like the National Enquirer so they can go after this crap.
- Brad Nickel
these Blue States are so predictable. always the biggest feminazis cheating on their wives. wonder why?
- Noah David Simon
Oh Noah, don't know if you are a Republican, but the hypocrisy in that party is so deep and wide I think we will run out of Internet to cover the gay and sex scandals in that party long before we do with Dems.
- Brad Nickel
yes I am a Republican. and um... ur not objective here. or maybe u think Jim McGreevey is a Republican. What presidential candidate had a sex scandal for the Republicans? none.
- Noah David Simon
LOL I love it when people use criticism of someones objectivity to make their point. That's when you know the conversation is futile to continue.

Rudy Giuliani and John McCain have both cheated on previous wives.

I totally agree. Even Peet's in SF offers free wifi, along with a lot of local coffee houses... Starbuck's coffee is always so acidic tasting...
- Ariane
from Alert Thingy
aw man, peets coffee is the business! and like the rest of you, it bites that you have to pay for starbucks wifi...i mean, DAMN!
- Tofu De la Moore
I was a fan of Starbucks' new Wifi strategy until I started explaining it to my brother-in-law and heard how ridiculously complicated it sounded coming out of my mouth. ("You need a card, and you have to register it online and link it to AT&T. Then you need to keep a minimum balance of $5 on it and use it once every 30 days. Okay. When you get into the store you get an authorization screen... ") Because, of course, it IS too complicated. Free, by which I mean really free and simple to use, is better.
- Bill Barol
not to mention the fact that their coffee sucks ass.
