"While photographing the Michael Jackson memorial on Hollywood Boulevard on June 27th, I came upon a scene where an Andrews International private security guard was ordering a guy who was heckling the gathered reporters to leave the public portion of the boulevard. I took one photo and the guard, Vasquez #782, immediately turned his attention to me and told me to stop and that I couldn’t take pictures specifically of him. " -Discarted

It may have taken me a while to realize it, but I finally came to the conclusion that getting our children to look at the camera and smile, with lights set up, and them in cute outfits, is an exercise in frustration that generally ends in my blood pressure being through the roof and my patience being completely spent.

After Brian Auer’s post offering a chance to win one of his prints, I started thinking how cool it would be to get a print from some of my favorite photographers and even from some friends who have quite an eye for using their camera.

@Melissa - You have GOT to go! :) I actually took this one during an event I was shooting: http://www.flickr.com/photos... I still have yet to process the images I took when I visited on my own!
- Justin Korn
LOL it wouldn't so funny if it wasn't so sadly true
- Jim Goldstein
Robert, clean shaven faces are considered more trustworthy in the modern aesthetic. Hence most heros in movies are clean shaven and villains have facial hair or scruff.

Muttonchops are the best thing ever. I also like how Obama is smiling (very well illustrated I think).
- Will Higgins™
I give him 6 months before he has white hair
- Amit Morson
amit he already has a few shades of grey, which i don't remember him having even a year ago. its incredible what this kind of job does to a person
- Cee Bee
Sad. Unless President Obama and Congress do something about that. Here's to hoping.
- Steven Perez
Thanks for the clarification. I don't live in CA, but I hope it loses, because I'm pro gay marriage. :D
- Mol, Time Warping
Obama and Congress wouldn't have much to do with it since it's being settled on the State level. It would need to come up through the courts and challenged on a federal level at the Supreme Court
- Lindsey is Fierce!
uh-oh. right now it is winning - yes on prop 8 is at 55%...
- edythe
Ugh, I thought this had a better chance of being put down in CA. *sigh*
- jerry
tightening up... 53% yes - 47% no, only 9% reporting... with all that's happened tonight, you kinda feel that 'no' needs to win this...
- .LAG liked that
I think they're both doing a decent job, but I agree that neither is a masterdebater. One thing for sure though, Palin isn't destroying herself like it seemed like she would!
- CJ Millisock
Benjamin, you could set up a wishlist, set the keyword or title to steelers, and restrict the genre to sports. Adding the HD broadcast however: ehhh, maybe add the keyword HD? More info: http://www.tivo.com/mytivo...
- Mark Trapp
E A G L E S Eagles! (Though I have Limas Sweed on my fantasy team!)
- AJ Kohn
He could restrict the channel to the HD Channels, but that may take more than one subscription
- RAPatton
Yes, there is a button called "Suckage!" that you use to record Steelers games. At least that's how the Tivo in Baltimore is set up
- jerry
I wonder how that would work with the leagues "flex" schedule this year. I think Mendenhall may have a shot at rookie of the year.
- Andrew Smith
I used to do this by doing a search and telling it I was interested in anything Steelers. Isn't that feature still there?
- Colin Devroe
Just a couple days!!! Unfortunately I don't think SLC will play many steelers game local... I'm going to be spending a lot of time at the bars...
- Tim Costantino
For the curious: you can accomplish this by setting the keyword search to "Steelers" and limit to the HD: Sports: Football category.
- Benjamin Golub
Hines Ward is my hero! Oh, and Troy Polamalu!
- Josh Haley
this bunny looks like a politician! (hand me the beer and nobody gets hurt!)
- Susan Beebe
Jay, brilliant site! It's about cats. In sinks. Brilliant!
- Michael W. May
Clean in design and purpose. Pays for itself, other people make the content. www.catsinsinks.com -- this is why the internet was created. If they make a widget, I'm going to blow my brains out.
- Oldengrey (Jay)
Antarctica, Africa, Japan, someday I'll get around to all three.
- Thomas Hawk
Now that I think about it, I could do with about 10 more options :)
- Johnny Worthington
I have yet to discover someone who: 1. is passionate about photography 2. lives near me *AND* 3. wouldn't mind teaching me to share their passion. When I do, I think I can revisit this post. Liking to be able to do so.

New Zealand, New Zealand, New Zealand :-D

@jerry Petra is in Jordan. Amazing to walk down the Siq and have the treasury appear from nowhere. I have traveled to lots of the places mentioned and my biggest regret is not doing more people shots. They have so much character but I don't have the confidence to photograph, especially in a Muslim country.

Chernobyl (city), the abandoned V-2 rocket base at Peenemünde, and the reefs around Rotan.
- Chris Baskind
When I worked in the camera store processing photos the best photos came from Alaska and Africa. Those are still the two places I want to visit that I haven't yet visited.
- Robert Scoble
That's tough one...Egypt, Greece, and China...as of now. :)
