Re: The FriendFeed Sponge - http://julianbaldwin.com/blog...
""One way FriendFeed will live on is if users take responsibility for their own noise. It may take users several days to identify noise you create." Great point and I think this is key. I honestly try to be aware of what I'm posting and the quality of it, including things such as images when possible. I'm not going to share certain blog posts or other items that I know that others will naturally see by those who most follow. If I'm noisy, I try to make it "good" noise. Maybe not always, but the majority of the time." - Vince DeGeorge
Part of the noise problem is that there are different equivalence classes of users consuming the same friendfeed stream. For instance, there are subscribers who care that I smashed my pinkie toe, that I liked " Let's Dance To Joy Division" and want to know what is going on with my kids, and there are ones that are more interested in entertainment, science and politics. What is noise to one, is not noise to the other, but the way in which life streaming happens is that everyone is on a stage and our pronouncements, no matter how profound or mundane, are broadcast to all. There are solution, but most require additional complexity, and complexity kills systems. - RAPatton
