[Show as slideshow] There’s nothing quite as much fun as going to an eatery of some foreign country with a chef who is also of such persuasion. And going to two of them in one night is almost as much fun as shooting monkeys in a barrel. So that’s just what ELV and his staff* did recently with uber-chef [...]
A few weeks ago I wrote an open letter to Vdara General Manager Angela Lester about problems I had during my stay. I'm happy to say that today I got a detailed, point-by-point response from Ms. Lester that covers each specific issue I raised. All service operations have missteps, especially brand new ones. The thoughtful response indicates that they truly want to fix these problems and improve quality. I appreciate her taking the time to respond in full. As for if I will visit Vdara again - certainly. While I prefer gaming properties when in Las Vegas, a Vdara firing on all cylinders could be a nice alternative. Ms. Lester's response is after the jump. Happy New Year!
At a little after 1 a.m. on the first day of a new year in a new decade, dozens of celebrants walked — OK, some stumbled — down Harmon Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard. The smoke from the fireworks long had cleared and the massive street party on the Strip was winding down. The same could not be said about Krave Nightclub. As many of the estimated 315,000 on the Strip headed for cars, cabs or free rides on CAT busses, a line still existed in front of the Strip's only gay bar.
Last year, Staind frontman Aaron Lewis got the most radical tattoo I've ever heard anyone getting in Las Vegas. On Oct. 1, the singer of "It's Been A While" went to the Hard Rock Hotel's Hart & Huntington and got "DON'T TREAD ON ME" inked across his neck.
Another UFC weekend, another stand-up date from Joe Rogan. But wait, what's this? Rogan's comedic nemesis, Carlos Mencia, also on the Strip today? Somebody call the Fertittas, we've got the next cash cow: Ultimate Comedy Smackdown!
In nightlife, as in any industry, success often comes down to hiring the right person for the job. Pure Management Group's programming department should get a pat on the back (or an extra night off) for its hiring choice this New Year's Eve - ghetto-gone-platinum rapper 50 Cent.
Ringing in the New Year at the Fremont Street Experience may not have been free - $10 for locals and $20 for out-of-state visitors - but Downtown revelers were out in full force to enjoy the experience
