The lua-list thread on 'Go'/goroutines quickly became a discussion on the relative merits of dead languages such as ALGOL68…and Cornish.

In 1675 the King of England banned coffee houses, claiming they were places where people met to conspire against him. - http://verseguru.com/post...
OMG, rum (even with coffee) and programming do not mix. Who'd had thought. Yikes. Not so damn boring these signin functions now though. %-)

@therealsridevi an English shop 7 years ago. It smells like it should work but actually it doesn't. Wikip suggests it kills larvae though.
Ah, Delhi mornings, and the heady aroma of the local rubbish pile being set alight. Nothing quite like inhaling charred particulate plastic.
@teflonliving A friend had a crapheap (Ford Capri) with such holes in the footwells. So convenient for disposing of trash, shoes, feet…!
Dogs have larger footprints than 4x4s. http://www.good.is/post... Pigs are better pets—you can feed them waste, and they're tastier than dogs.
The U.S. dollar is no longer the world’s currency. […] The exceptions to this rule include […] any country that has had a recent war. - http://verseguru.com/post...
There aren’t that many dangerous places in the world. True, Somalia would not make a good vacation spot. But the list of Somalias is short, and the list of amazing places is long. - http://verseguru.com/post...
Thinking about #Obj-C makes me cringe but executing it is fine. Thinking about #Java is okay, but executing it kills me. #Lua is all good :)
By Jove I've been delivered! I blocked a few 2mm holes (and sprayed cinnamon oil)— not a single scurrilous mozzie last night. Bite me, fnar!
I'm fairly certain I'm the only person in Delhi—nay, the entire subcontinent—who enjoys listening to harpsichord music on Sunday.
You can’t very easily invite somebody to your church and then to supper and inform him that he’s marked for perdition. - http://verseguru.com/post...
Only four-ish weeks of murdering mosquitoes to go before I'm back in gloomy wintery London. Not sure if this is any better or worse.

I've been viciously savaged by mosquitoes all night, even under the covers. I feel like a zombie at a roller derby. Mmm, brains…or coffee.

Just ordered myself (second-hand) copies of "How to Worry Friends and Inconvenience People", "Enemy of Chaos"…and "Anathem".
Silly idiot. I was just writing a script that issues a killall [bad] and couldn't figure out why it kept terminating itself. Well…ahem.

@incuna A good cloud deployment should have inherent resilience across multiple nodes *and* providers without a separate backup requirement.
@incuna Of course I mean for a mid-to-large scale app, for general use an incremental backup is essential, if live replication is too much!
For the thirfty, Linode wins with its 4 cores on all plans, whilst VPS.NET starts at 2 but goes up to 8—although a dedi would be cheaper.
Thanks to http://saddler.co.uk I've replaced the burned-out wheels on my Delsey suitcase. No more mad careening on airport concourses.
Flatmate: «Good morning!» thrusts perfume bottle widget at me «Do I just stab it?» (And the answer is «No, you remove that plastic thing.»)
I do rather like this Chateau Indage (Indian) rosé (given a lack of anything else). It has a sort slightly smokey streaky bacon edge to it.
