And Josh correct me if I'm wrong, he uploaded to Twitpic the same animated GIF 9 times, then created a friendfeed post and attached all 9 images by URL (instead of choosing images from his hard drive). Images coming from twitpic, soup.io, etc will animate, but photos hosted by friendfeed itself won't.

Why the friendfeed limitation on animated .gifs? It seems arbitrary and odd to me. I could see wanting to limit filesize (animated .gifs can get large) but you can upload huge .jpgs without any trouble.

Sony lie about specs? Never. :) And no, they don't say that the refresh rate is 120hz...Also they get to those rates, not by taking discreet FPS inputs from a source, but rather by taking a 24 or 60hz input and running them through motion smoothing algorithms which cause you to lose detail...not the same as running a PC through a CRT at 120hz with a beefy CPU/GPU capable of playing Quake, etc. at 120FPS.

Not least of which because I think that pen+fingers is an awesome input paradigm (and I can use it -- among other things -- as an infinite sketchbook). I hope that it's got good pressure sensitivity. Stephen, very happy to see new features like this, but I think the "death" part is the major users reducing their activity. I'd love to see some support from Facebook in promoting FriendFeed more to encourage those users to go back. Or maybe they don't want to? Regardless, bonus for me! Thanks Benjamin - you're awesome!

Jesse, fair enough but major users always did come and go. Some of the departees who left said they were doing so because there was no new development. Clearly not all development is halted. Last week Paul hinted that FF may receive a major new feature, and characterized his participation as "20% time" -- I'll take that.

Jesse, I think you should focus where your users are focused. What do SocialToo users want? But if they want Facebook focus, you should still keep an eye on FriendFeed, since the future Facebook will look a lot more like FriendFeed.
