Thought I'd share this album I made of some more recent Maggie pictures. She's starting to give me that "OK, what's with all the pics?" look a lot now, LOL http://imgur.com/a/UcqPd#0
Looking into pet insurance for Maggie and my chihuahua Dixie. Anybody know of any good ones?
I have VPI for Otto, theyve been pretty good for us for teh past 6 years. - ωαřмaiden ❤Marrit Woman❤
Several "yays" today - Yay, staples removed! Yay, no more cone! Yay, no more stuck in cage! Yay, zero balance at vet's office! (IMOM and RedRover payments came in, now just paying off CareCredit.) First thing Maggie did? Catch up on grooming, of course. Followed quickly by a nap. :)

And boy, did she ever groom. I could just imagine her going "OMG I've got almost a MONTH of grooming to catch up on; I'll never finish!" LOL - Viki
Hadn't updated the donations total in a few days because I misplaced my Maggie spreadsheet. Oops! All fixed now. We did get some donations over the last few days in an interesting form - a friend donated some items for me to sell for Maggie, and the proceeds are counted towards the total. Less and less left on that CareCredit bill. Thank you all!
The vet said we could let her have some time outside her crate when the hole from her drainage tube closed up, so she got to have some time hanging out (under close supervision - don't want her pulling on those staples) in her old spots in the apartment yesterday. She sure seemed relieved to be able to curl up in her favorite spot on the couch :)

New Maggie pic! She's lying on the side where they removed the leg, so it must not be hurting her too much now (well, that and I did give her the pain medication a bit before taking this pic).

added this photo to a post in G+ this afternoon https://plus.google.com/1134118... and the ripple for it (though it's currently uninteresting): https://plus.google.com/ripple... - mjc
Woke up to a Maggie meowing this morning. She's getting really bored of her crate. On the one hand, I'm looking forward to letting her wander around the apartment again, but on the other, I'm nervous about her trying to get out the front door.
Just got back from Maggie's follow-up visit at the vet. He said her incision is healing very nicely, and she got to have her drainage tube removed. After the hole from her drainage tube heals, she can start walking outside her crate. Next week she'll have her staples removed. Progress!
As a result of RedRover coming through with their $200 donation, IMOM.org has reduced their donation by that amount in order to be able to help another animal in need. So if you've noticed the donations amount change, that's why. :)
Maggie has started in on the attempts to bolt from the cage while I refill her food and water, lol. Must be a good sign, if you ask me! Meanwhile, we've gotten a few more donations from coworkers and friends. Totals updated. Thank you to all!
Here are some more pictures of Maggie getting settled in at home :) https://plus.google.com/1134118...
I wanted to update you all with a better picture, but ehrm... for some reason she thinks the litter box is a good place to chill out. :/ I hope she figures out what it's for...

This does my heart good! (And cats do, sometimes, like to chill in the litter box.) - Fish Are LIES
Mine is napping in her (freshly-cleaned) litter box as we speak. :) Bless their little feline hearts. - Hookuh Tinypants
Just got home from the vet with Maggie. Good news! The total for her hospital stay came out to be less than expected, so we're now $255.41 over that amount. Since all the feedback I've gotten regarding what to do with overages has been to apply it to the CareCredit balance (her emergency bill), I've updated that in the goals. Thank you all so much!
Just talked to the vet and confirmed: Maggie's coming home today!!!! I'm bringing her home between noon and 2pm EST today. She's doing SOOOO much better, you guys. <3 This would never have been possible without you.
Yay! - Kelli H.
That's wonderful news!!! Welcome home, Maggie! <3 - Fish Are LIES from FFHound!
Yay! That's good news! - Tamara J.

Incredibly, we only have $49.59 to go before Maggie's hospitalization and surgery are totally paid for. RedRover came through with even more than they originally offered, and a couple of very generous donations came through today as well, including one from a friendly neighbor who saw our flyer, recognized Maggie and wanted to help out. Thank you!!
I visited Maggie today for the first time after her amputation surgery. She's looking much better. I was surprised to see her sitting up when I got there (previously she's been lying down until I get out the treat bag). I tried taking pictures of her sitting up, but she was too excited to see me to sit still.
My roommate got a pic of Maggie lying down contentedly after getting lots and lots of pets and neck scratches. It looks disconcerting to see her without that leg, but she seems to be doing much better without it. http://imgur.com/Mw8KK - Viki
OK, I've adjusted the goals/totals above. The goal is for Maggie's hospitalization and the amputation she had today, and the donations have been adjusted to reflect IMOM.org's contribution (which will be paid directly to the vet) and a bit of cash donations I've received. I'm considering what to do with any overflow if/when we get there... (cont.)
I was considering possibly applying it to the CareCredit bill for her emergency clinic stay, because that amount is already going to be very difficult to pay off in 6 months, but I wanted to check with you all to get your feedback on it, because the money isn't really mine. Another option would be to donate it to a pet charity, like IMOM.org. - Viki
I say use the money to pay CareCredit. That way, in case future vet bills occur, you'll be able to care for Maggie. - Tamara J.
I'll be sharing this dilemma on the G+ posts as well and trying to tally up peoples' thoughts, soon as I find some time :/ - mjc
Thanks for the input, Tamara J. That is a good point, as I'm not sure how much follow up care it'll turn out she needs. Ideally just one visit to remove staples, but you never know what might happen. And mjc - thank you, love <3 - Viki
I second what Tamara said. I donated toward Maggie's care and getting breathing room on the CareCredit definitely counts in my book. - Fish Are LIES
IMHO, if CareCredit was the means of borrowing to care for Maggie's injuries, it would stand to reason contributions would legitimately belong there just as if the money was going directly to the vet, since it is just paying off what you had to borrow when you didn't have any other way to pay the vet keep her alive. Our contributions are for Maggie's care, not to be passed along to help someone else's pet when you're paying interest for what you borrowed for Maggie's bill. - MaryAnn Harrod-Hench
I agree. - Rachel Lea Fox
Me too. Anything that can be applied to the emergency care bill will help the three of us and Lord knows we need all the help we can get to pay this ;) - Lucero McGlinchy from iPhone
Can't wait to go visit Maggie after work today. I hope she's feeling as OK as possible under the circumstances, poor thing.
My brain's apparently useless after all this. I just realized I posted about bills and stuff and haven't updated you all on Maggie yet! She did successfully go through surgery today. I didn't get to see her awake, but I saw her as the surgery was finishing up (through a window) and the vet showed me the staples and explained what he did. (cont.)
I won't go into the morbidly graphic details, but I will tell you that it was painfully clear just how badly she needed that surgery. I am so glad that people have made that possible, she just would not have survived without it. - Viki
Yay, go maggie! - mjc
Maggie's surgery is today, and thank goodness - that paw looked awful yesterday. :( Well wishes, good thoughts, prayers, etc are muchly appreciated. Her surgery is going to be around 11am or 12pm EST. I'm so grateful for all the people who have made this possible. ♥
Sending good thoughts. - Fish Are LIES from FFHound!
Sending good kitty healing vibes! - Rachel Lea Fox
Paypal total updated. We are at the end stretch of this thing, and not very much more to pay for her hospitalization. I'm going to keep you all posted throughout her recovery.
I took a couple of cell phone videos of Maggie purring and standing up to eat treats when I visited her at the vet yesterday. She's getting stronger! This is a good sign that she will be strong enough to handle the surgery, I think. http://youtu.be/mSJWU28Ze5s
This one's the one of her purring while I pet her, but warning - there was a dog in the crate next to hers barking, so turn your speakers down! http://youtu.be/f-Qd9jZ9QMU - Viki
Maggie got approved for IMOM this morning, and they've helped to raise an amazing $675 as of 1:45 today. That money will go towards her amputation. I'll remove the amputation goal from here if/when the IMOM thread raises the full $1000 they've approved towards the surgery. Maggie is so lucky there are so many kind people out there.
IMOM link, for anyone who's interested: http://www.imom.org/communi... - Viki
Paypal total updated. Thank you all so much. Off to get more info up on my imom.org application. We're hoping to have a video up soon, too.
7/4/12 Vet Visit - Roommies and I visited Maggie this morning. We gave her lots of pets, including some from you all. The vet said she seems to be in better spirits today. Her appetite isn't very good, but she ate some of the food I brought for her yesterday, and they're giving her some extra stuff for kitties who need extra nutrition or something.
She will definitely need her foot amputated, the vet said they will probably do that on Monday. We took some more pictures and some video, we'll be posting those soon. She purred a lot when we petted her, she was really happy to see us. We decided to try and at least one of us visit her every day while she's in there to remind her we care. What else... Oh one more thing - Viki
The vet had said something about her needing debridement of her paw yesterday, but it turned out that won't be necessary due to the amputation. He said three legged kitties live very happy lives, so even though it will suck to see her with three legs, she should be happy and healthy that way. - Viki
<3 <3 <3 Thank you for the update! She's a trooper. :) - Hookuh Tinypants
I'm so glad to hear this - not about the amputation, but that she can love happily that way and that she was so happy to see you! - ωαřмaiden ❤Marrit Woman❤
Oh, and one more sign that her spirits are good - she perked right up when we opened the treats bag to give her a few treats (with the vet's permission). :) - Viki
I'm so glad to hear that her spirits are good! She is a tough girl! - Fish Are LIES
Is the need for amputation due to the infection or due to the splintered fractures? or both? - MaryAnn Harrod-Hench
I'm so happy she is doing better :) my old coworker has a 3 legged cat and he is an outdoor kitty and lives a normal life. It may be difficult at first but i know Maggie will make the best of it especially cause she has so much love and support. - Lisa Malacrino from iPhone
The amputation is needed due to the infection, the fractures, and the condition of the tissues in the injured area. There is some bone sticking out, and some necrotic tissue. Amputation is not only less expensive, the vet explained that it poses less risk of life-threatening complications like osteomyelitis (infection inside the bone, which is basically fatal since the antibiotics won't be able to reach it). - Viki
Thanks to all of you, I've removed the goal to cover her euthanasia. We've a long way to go, but I'm hoping to get her through to recovery. I can't tell you how grateful I am... if not for you all, I would have had to have her put to sleep this morning. As of now, Maggie owes her life to an unknown number who have helped by donating or reposting.
People are leaving such sweet well wishes and such in PayPal notes. <3 Thank you for those, too. I'll pass them along in the form of pets when I visit Maggie this afternoon.
I'm so glad to help with Maggie's recovery and look forward to seeing her soon! - Lisa Malacrino
Ditto; I'd've been lost without people's help when Otto needed major surgery a few years back; I hope we can help you & Maggie! - ωαřмaiden ❤Marrit Woman❤
In other news, I spoke to the vet briefly this morning. I will have more details this afternoon, but he says that she definitely does need more debridement surgery on her paw.
More donations found in PayPal. Thank you very, very much, and for those expressing concern via notes in PayPal, yes, roommies and I have firmly resolved that Maggie will never be an outdoor cat again. Indoors only, no matter how pissy she is about it.
You can say that again!!! - Lucero McGlinchy from iPhone
