Maggie was attacked and needed surgery. PayPal: http://bit.ly/save-maggie Goal: $4533.12 for emergency & vet stay. Donations: $3,721.67 Remaining: $811.45
Aww, she is doing very well indeed. Her fur's getting so much softer now that she's indoors all the time, and she seems to be enjoying all the indoor time. Hasn't even bolted for the door once; I'm shocked!

Thought I'd share this album I made of some more recent Maggie pictures. She's starting to give me that "OK, what's with all the pics?" look a lot now, LOL http://imgur.com/a/UcqPd#0
Now that Maggie's an indoor kitty, can anyone recommend a place to get a cheap cat tree? either that or instructions for making them - y'all have cats and have done this search before, and we value your ideas :) Link goes to random one :P http://www.amazon.com/dp...
Several "yays" today - Yay, staples removed! Yay, no more cone! Yay, no more stuck in cage! Yay, zero balance at vet's office! (IMOM and RedRover payments came in, now just paying off CareCredit.) First thing Maggie did? Catch up on grooming, of course. Followed quickly by a nap. :)
Hadn't updated the donations total in a few days because I misplaced my Maggie spreadsheet. Oops! All fixed now. We did get some donations over the last few days in an interesting form - a friend donated some items for me to sell for Maggie, and the proceeds are counted towards the total. Less and less left on that CareCredit bill. Thank you all!
The vet said we could let her have some time outside her crate when the hole from her drainage tube closed up, so she got to have some time hanging out (under close supervision - don't want her pulling on those staples) in her old spots in the apartment yesterday. She sure seemed relieved to be able to curl up in her favorite spot on the couch :)
New Maggie pic! She's lying on the side where they removed the leg, so it must not be hurting her too much now (well, that and I did give her the pain medication a bit before taking this pic).
Woke up to a Maggie meowing this morning. She's getting really bored of her crate. On the one hand, I'm looking forward to letting her wander around the apartment again, but on the other, I'm nervous about her trying to get out the front door.
Just got back from Maggie's follow-up visit at the vet. He said her incision is healing very nicely, and she got to have her drainage tube removed. After the hole from her drainage tube heals, she can start walking outside her crate. Next week she'll have her staples removed. Progress!
As a result of RedRover coming through with their $200 donation, IMOM.org has reduced their donation by that amount in order to be able to help another animal in need. So if you've noticed the donations amount change, that's why. :)
Maggie has started in on the attempts to bolt from the cage while I refill her food and water, lol. Must be a good sign, if you ask me! Meanwhile, we've gotten a few more donations from coworkers and friends. Totals updated. Thank you to all!
Some more generous donations have come in - we're now making a dent in that emergency bill! I'm utterly amazed at the way this whole thing has come together, and so thankful I've got a kitty on the mend at the end of it all. <3 The words of encouragement have also been hugely helpful - you all made me believe this might be possible, and it was!
I wanted to update you all with a better picture, but ehrm... for some reason she thinks the litter box is a good place to chill out. :/ I hope she figures out what it's for...
Just got home from the vet with Maggie. Good news! The total for her hospital stay came out to be less than expected, so we're now $255.41 over that amount. Since all the feedback I've gotten regarding what to do with overages has been to apply it to the CareCredit balance (her emergency bill), I've updated that in the goals. Thank you all so much!
Just talked to the vet and confirmed: Maggie's coming home today!!!! I'm bringing her home between noon and 2pm EST today. She's doing SOOOO much better, you guys. <3 This would never have been possible without you.
Incredibly, we only have $49.59 to go before Maggie's hospitalization and surgery are totally paid for. RedRover came through with even more than they originally offered, and a couple of very generous donations came through today as well, including one from a friendly neighbor who saw our flyer, recognized Maggie and wanted to help out. Thank you!!
I visited Maggie today for the first time after her amputation surgery. She's looking much better. I was surprised to see her sitting up when I got there (previously she's been lying down until I get out the treat bag). I tried taking pictures of her sitting up, but she was too excited to see me to sit still.
My roommate got a pic of Maggie lying down contentedly after getting lots and lots of pets and neck scratches. It looks disconcerting to see her without that leg, but she seems to be doing much better without it. http://imgur.com/Mw8KK

OK, I've adjusted the goals/totals above. The goal is for Maggie's hospitalization and the amputation she had today, and the donations have been adjusted to reflect IMOM.org's contribution (which will be paid directly to the vet) and a bit of cash donations I've received. I'm considering what to do with any overflow if/when we get there... (cont.)
I was considering possibly applying it to the CareCredit bill for her emergency clinic stay, because that amount is already going to be very difficult to pay off in 6 months, but I wanted to check with you all to get your feedback on it, because the money isn't really mine. Another option would be to donate it to a pet charity, like IMOM.org.

I say use the money to pay CareCredit. That way, in case future vet bills occur, you'll be able to care for Maggie.

I'll be sharing this dilemma on the G+ posts as well and trying to tally up peoples' thoughts, soon as I find some time :/
- mjc
Thanks for the input, Tamara J. That is a good point, as I'm not sure how much follow up care it'll turn out she needs. Ideally just one visit to remove staples, but you never know what might happen. And mjc - thank you, love <3
- Viki
I second what Tamara said. I donated toward Maggie's care and getting breathing room on the CareCredit definitely counts in my book.

IMHO, if CareCredit was the means of borrowing to care for Maggie's injuries, it would stand to reason contributions would legitimately belong there just as if the money was going directly to the vet, since it is just paying off what you had to borrow when you didn't have any other way to pay the vet keep her alive. Our contributions are for Maggie's care, not to be passed along to help someone else's pet when you're paying interest for what you borrowed for Maggie's bill.

Me too. Anything that can be applied to the emergency care bill will help the three of us and Lord knows we need all the help we can get to pay this ;)

My brain's apparently useless after all this. I just realized I posted about bills and stuff and haven't updated you all on Maggie yet! She did successfully go through surgery today. I didn't get to see her awake, but I saw her as the surgery was finishing up (through a window) and the vet showed me the staples and explained what he did. (cont.)
I won't go into the morbidly graphic details, but I will tell you that it was painfully clear just how badly she needed that surgery. I am so glad that people have made that possible, she just would not have survived without it.

Maggie's surgery is today, and thank goodness - that paw looked awful yesterday. :( Well wishes, good thoughts, prayers, etc are muchly appreciated. Her surgery is going to be around 11am or 12pm EST. I'm so grateful for all the people who have made this possible. ♥
Paypal total updated. We are at the end stretch of this thing, and not very much more to pay for her hospitalization. I'm going to keep you all posted throughout her recovery.
Also, I went ahead and deleted the amputation goal. Maggie's thread on IMOM seems at or close to their goal for her surgery, so I won't be fundraising elsewhere for that part. Thank you, IMOM!

Viki's at the vet at the moment. Good news? Maggie's non-surgery time at the vet will be cheaper and shorter than originally estimated (originally was $2533.42.) She'll be going home Wednesday if all goes well with the surgery on Monday, rather than staying for a full week after. Bad news? The cost is only reduced by $260 (to $2273.42.)
