So far Viki and her roommates have put forward $832.50 for the first day treatment, and $472.70 for her weekend stay at the emergency vet. To have Maggie euthanized tomorrow, and to pay for her stay at a normal vet today, $400 is needed. It's estimated that for Maggie to leave the vet, assuming no complications or surgeries, she will need
$2533.42. :/ - mjc
i'm not sure what part of FL you are in, but there's a list of organizations that can help with emergency medical funds on this page (scroll down a ways): http://www.floridapets.net/petaid... maybe one is in your area? - holly #ravingfangirl
Thanks for the suggestion - Viki's in Miami. some of her other friends have suggested a few other places as well... hope something comes through from somewhere :/ - mjc
Has any advice been given on quality of life if she recovers? Will she be able to be an indoor cat since down one leg will make her less likely to defend herself? What is the vet currently suggesting? - Rachel Lea Fox from iPhone
Hi Rachel. Yes, the vet said that he's not sure if she will definitely need an amputation, she may not, but if she does, he emphasized that three-legged kitties live happy lives. He mentioned one cat that was a patient of his that is still an outdoor cat and frequently leaves mice for her owners, despite the loss of one leg. That aside, my roommates and I are very frightened by this whole incident and have agreed that she will be an indoor cat if we can get her through this. - Viki
